Castle said:spinja – the season two episodes are still being written, Jose just finished writing The Suicide Squeeze a couple of weeks ago, so they're not written long before they're filmed. I think they have a good idea where they want a couple of things to go throughout the whole season well in advance but most of the stuff doesn't get written far in advance at all.

Ok, good.

Thanks Admin.

"I come on boat. And now, I own a boat!!" Castle and Esposito in that scene were hilarious. I replay that scene at least three times before moving on.

Season 2 seems to be about Beckett starting to see what makes Castle great and more importantly, great for her. Castle has always realized how great Beckett is, he just needed to treat their relationship a little better and he is doing that now. He's always going to be a bit of a twelve year old but Beckett is starting to see that is only part of who he is and not everything he is. He does go for real. But then again, Beckett hasn't realized that is why Castle likes her so much. Also, time is proving what Lanie said in episode five last season to be wise. That Castle is fun and that Beckett needs some fun. Beckett has become comfortable enough to tell Castle that having him around makes her job (and thus her life) a little more fun and enjoyable.

"My partner is crazy and may start firing at any moment." – Castle speaking in Chinese about Beckett

Beckett: (about Natalie Rhodes) She took my coffee, Castle!

Beckett: Alakazam, jackass.

Esposito: "Listen to me. You're too late. The cops already know all about…me and your mom."

Beckett: "I put a lot of people in this place. Some of them want to kill me, others never been treated so fairly in their lives – so they form an attachment to me. It’s like I’m their favorite schoolteacher. Some of those people might visit you while you’re in here, like the ghosts that visit Scrooge. And after some time with them, you might find yourself a changed man. So I will be back here, week after week, to ask you who hired you, until that miracle occurs."

Yeah that was funny and cool that they possibly refrenced stilletto… Oh and does anyone think Nathan possibly meant to say Chinese when he said I brought Italian because the food box looked like a chinese food container.

Yeah that was definitely a Chinese food box and other than spaghetti there's not much Italian food that would serve well in a box like that. Bounce

It's interesting to me that everyone is so keyed in on physical contact.

Why hasn't there been physical contact? A shoulder touch. A hug. A kiss. Oh for the love of Pete, SOMETHING!

Whereas I would've said anything more than what they did in 2×13 would've been too much. Beckett's not a touchy-feely sort of girl–apart from perhaps dragging Castle about by the ear or nose. I can almost hear Ryan delivering the line: "Beckett? She's not really a hugger"… because hey, not all women are.

And with Castle's reputation, I'm not surprised that he's keeping his hands to himself. He'll do verbal foreplay til the cows come home, but when it comes to Beckett he's a complete gentleman. To my thinking he's either too scared of messing up what they have and/or has simply decided that Beckett will set the pace.

You want to know when I personally think this mystical hug is going to happen? When it's Castle that needs it. Like the murder of a child or  something that just wallops Castle on the fatherly level where he is at his most vulnerable. Beckett will surprise him by showing her support and it will be that much more meaningful because of all the hugs that haven't happened up to this point.

YES wynnara, I can totally see it happening that way too. I've always had a feeling that it would be KB who would make the first move, so to speak.

Just for fun someone posted early on in the thread about the pigtails pulling on the pig tails.
Some remarks about Anne of Green Gables and how Gil pulled on Anne's hair and pigtails. I was a huge Gables fan still pull them out and watch all three movies.
I loved how boys would show off to get the girls attention. In Anne's case a lot of time she showed off LOL!
Castle loves to show off, he is a man but most men often act like little boys.I have three older brothers and they can sometimes be big little big boys as is my Dad and my three brother in laws.
Anyhow remember someone here said they didn't want Castle or Beckett to act like children but be mature grown ups when dealing with their relationship.
I love that Anne & Gilbert ended up married, also in the books they they had seven kids(one died at birth) so there is hope for our Castle & Beckett yet Love2

The hug thing could also be about Castle worrying over Alexis in some later episode and Beckett comes to his comfort.

Yep that's exactly what I hope will happen, I have been there and been scared silly thinking that i would screw it up Embarassed

The last few seconds of the episode were to me the most enjoyable ( Beckett reaching forwards with the chop sticks wanting to sang some of Castle's food ) that's just priceless. Love2

The Johnny Wong quip "Now i own the boat" assisted by Castle and Espesito was brilliant, cracked me up Bounce
Ryan's loving looks at the DVD was hilarious as was him getting ready to take off his shoes.

This episode was the finest piece of writing/acting that this show has produced to date, just the right amount of heavy under tone's with the comfortable feel we have grown to love, and just a tinge of personal emotion bubbling away inside.

Along with the season one pilot my personal favorites.

Hello! well I just watched this episode.. and I have to admit, I watched it with trepidation! I was nervous about what Kate was going to be put through..

I see what everyone means about it being a 2 part episode.. we knew what this episode was about.. they had been promoting it as the episode where Kate's mum's killer gets caught- well… I spent the whole of the first half just thinking – yada yada… where's the killer? so many names.. that I didn't even care about.. Castle made this first half of the episode better though.. Loved Castle and Esposito's Vong impersonation – Now I own a boat! with the accent and everything.. very well done!! Loved Kate's reaction to it to, she was amused by it I am sure!

I did feel like Kate's dealing with what was happening was all kind of brushed over.. a few times.. a lot like how there is a gap between the end of season 1 and season 2… these very important moments that leave you wondering – what happened in between? I needed to see that!!! ugh!! well.. maybe it is just me who feels this way..

I hated how at the beginning Coonan was talking to Beckett and how Beckett told him she had been on his side of the table (or whatever the expression was). I wanted to yell at the TV- don't tell him that!!!! He is the one that did this to you- and you are offering this guy empathy? ugh!! that was difficult to watch.. alot of this episode was. We were rewarded for putting ourselves through it though! :-)

Well, you guys have gone into the details of this episode so beautifully that I won't add to your observations – oh other than to say yep ! I saw the weird shirt Beckett was wearing with the pins in the back- ha haa.. and how she opened the flask twice..

Montgomery trained Beckett? hmm that's interesting!!

Soooo… the stand out thoughts for me on this episode:

Castle's sincerity with Beckett.. I loved it.. I still can't believe he called her Kate!!! whoa.. I do think NF did a fantastic, understated job in this ep..

In terms of Castle and Beckett's relationship – I found it interesting that in the Tag, Castle came to apologise to Beckett, full of guilt over how he had, in his mind, stuffed up all Beckett's hopes of solving her mother's murder.

When he shows up with all the food – he truly looks like he had a sleepless night agonising over what had happened, and he had come to the conclusion that he was a huge failure and Beckett couldn't possibly want to put up with him being there anymore..

The Tag of the episode is the best part.. Where Kate reassures him that she couldn't have learned what she did without him ( reassuring him in exactly the same way he had been reassuring her earlier in the episode about doing a good job). She hears Castle say he has decided to stop following her – but she knows, all she has to do is tell him the truth- and he will stay.. So she does.. I enjoyed the way she put it, it wasn't overly sentimental(which wouldn't read completely true IMO) – but it was enough for us shippers to enjoy!!

Other than the developments in her mother's murder – this is the biggest development of the episode: Castle- vulnerable, full of guilt and defeated- offers Kate her chance to be free from the 'burdens' of having him around that she has been putting up with since he was foisted on her without her permission by his friendship with the mayor – and what does she do? She reassures him, and admits that she likes having him around now.. wow!!! She is saying – I want you to stay.. that is my choice- I choose for you to stay with me- freely! To my mind, this is a huge development!!! I like that she acknowledges how he helps her to do her job and deal with the darkness of it…. she doesn't just want him to stay because he helped her find her mother's killer – she wants him to stay because of who he is.

I love that the episode ends with the characters looking to the future.. a future together ( whoo hoo!) and.. of finding out who the ' he' is that Coonan said they would never find!! Interesting that it ends with looking forward, when last week – for Castle- the episode ended with letting go of the past.. and this week the episode for Beckett was about finally accepting it is time again for her to address her past.. !!!

Hmmm.. I am going to take a huge stab in the dark ( get it?) and say the guy who ordered the killing was the lawyer of Coonan's who was bargaining on his behalf.. ha haaa.. am I the first to have a guess??!! hehehee..

As always looking forward to next week!! Thanks to everyone for sharing their thoughts!! they are all I have to go with until I get access to the episode a day or two later!! I especially love hearing so many different points of view!! thanks again for sharing!

I just cant see that mate. Until we get some more information about the other four killings, it would be wild speculation Crazy

For my part, i would say someone very high up in the criminal justice system, like maybe the commissioner whom we have yet to meet, or knowing the slyness of the writers it will be someone who has not even been mentioned yet, someone who will appear out of the blue with a flash of lightning and a crash of thunder, but probably someone who will slip under our notice till "they" decide to shine a spotlight on him.Tongue

Elaborating on what pamfromcalif said on the coffee moments; loved the “Negative, Ghostwriter. It’s a small price to pay for a chance to find your mother’s killer”. I definitely liked the ghostwriter reference to Beckett.

And I agree with Tsurwolf: HURRY UP MONDAY!!

I agree wholeheartedly with that statement. The writing staff is most excellent but this episode balanced what could have been a very  heavy-handed emotional angle with just the right amount of levity to balance it out beautifully.

And of course the performances are spot on.

Watching it again last night Beckett's reaction in Capt. Montgomery's office was acted so well it sent a shiver through me. I loved the way Beckett absently took the flask and drank, that moment felt so real you could feel Beckett's inner turmoil…

Like others I could go on and on, but I really, really love this episode.

Unlike the other weeks, I have to say I can wait for Monday simply because I want to continue to savor this episode for a while.

Tons of great insights from everyone.

After watching the episode again on hulu here are my favorite/lines scenes:

1. Beckett showing Castle how to talk to a source after the wake. (progress)
2. Kate's personal/sad moment in the car (with rain) before seeing her dad. Sad
3. No comment (avoiding the question) about liking 'bad boys'. Smile
4. Tasting the drugs in the train station, and Castle comment. The best reply of Beckett saying 'you like that' (I'm shaking my head at home and saying yes)Love
5. The entire ending with the food and personal talk is what I have been waiting to happen for weeks and Beckett came thru! Bounce2

Want to enjoy the episode one more time before Monday because I to want to savor this one just like Nalissa2.

Hooray for Season 3!

They need to search Coonan's office. Chances are they will find a treasure trove of information on a whole lotta of unsolved crimes. Also–Coonan probably wasn't lying about his "buddy" from the Gulf War. Only this "buddy" was the guy who hired Coonan to kill, not the other way around.

Somone (I forget who) mentioned Kate's "No Comment" to the "bad boy" question.  I also liked the very brief sideways glance she gave Castle.  It was quick-but it was there.

when you are looking at the episode again – note the look on KB's face when she's responding to Castle after tasting the drugs at the bus station. Her expression is perfect – both playful and wry. (As someone already said – tasting the drugs in this manner is just plain not done, but it does make for a great scene.)

I noticed the bad boy glance over to Castle in the first viewing it's fast but effective because Castle is Beckett's bad boy.
Also I think the two parter coming up with guest star Dana Delaney is going to be our clues for the next step to the murder of Beckett's Mom I think it is tied in with the Govt. in some way and Beckett & Castle will finds leads that send them in the direction of Delaney's character. Might be way off here but it's going to be some kind of thing her Mom and her other former law student might have stumbled into without knowing until they were faced with their deaths.
I also hope that the writers find something else for Castle & Beckett to get into besides her Mom's murder that bring them together even more as working partners and lovers. I don't know what but something really big that gives all the cast pieces to a puzzle that will take them seasons to crack. The murder of her Mom is what Beckett's character has been evolved around but I think Beckett would be awesome if she and Castle were sent out of town to investigate another murder and find /stumble into something really big and it brings them closer as a team to come out of it alive. Maybe to corny or dramatic but I'd like to see them be borrowed by another town and they go together and help on a case that becomes huge and they must really work together to solve it to save their own lives.

Beckett is always at least somewhat self conscious when it comes to Castle. If he wasn't there, she would probably have no problem answering that question about bad boys.

Once they get the Beckett murder out of the way, I figured they'd bring Castle's unknown father into the fun. There couldn't be that many candidates right? Of course if Martha didn't actually know the man, i.e. one night stands with one or more chance met men? There'd be some detective work involved for sure.

Although perhaps this topic belongs somewhere else?
