I didn't notice that cut on her head before.
But I have thought about all the personal stuff from her mom that she probably loses. That will be some tough scenes to watch if they show that.

The pictures with Alexis, the one with her Grams and also with her Dad, she looks sad and so devastated. I wodner if it was right after she heard about Kate's apt being blown up and she thought that Kate had either been hurt or died.
I really do hope to see more Alexis and Kate scenes. I mean, she's at that age where she seeks a woman's opinion and sicne ehr Mom is away somewhere, and I think Kate is at the age where she can relate to Alexis.
I think that cooking for them is her way of thanking them. She's not the kind to take handouts, so she would probably want to do something for them to show her appreciation, for the accomodations….and the t-shirt she's borrowing
I agree
And plus, cooking can be therapeutic. Also, maybe her cooking breakfast, it makes her feel like it's a routine for her.

sunshine_minx: i started giving what you said some thought…
am i correct in assuming that the only time she takes off her dad's watch and her mom's wedding ring is when she is at home and is done for the day (ie. in the bathtub reading a castle book or going to bed)?
i can't see the pictures too well, but in the post-explosion pics i do not see her wearing the chain/wedding ring around her neck, and i although i see the bandages around her wrist, i do not see her father's watch.
…. so am i jumping to conclusions in assuming that she may have been inside her apartment at the time of the explosion, and may be lost in the wreckage?

thumper – isn't she wearing the chain in the "on the phone at breakfast time"-picture? No sign of the watch, but it could be that she's not wearing it because of the bandage…

I didn't notice before but thank goodness she is wearing the chain. Most likely she still had the watch on too. It'll be interesting to see if it was damaged since the wrist she wears it on is bandaged.
unniw, this picture shows her head bleeding. It's right where her part is and you can see it dripping down her forehead a little bit.

now that i'm finally home after work i can see you are all correct; what i mistook for a strand of hair is her chain.
i really need to clean my monitor at the office…. CSI would have a field day with everything on my desk 
i'm still skeptical on the watch… she could wear it on her other wrist (yes i'm being stubborn from waiting so damn long for something that isn't a rerun)

Ooo thanks for posting these! I was never really able to see the bandage on her wrist but I def see it now. I really hope her dad's watch wasn't damaged BUT I'd rather her lose the watch than the necklace. At least her dad is still around, ya know?

I wasn't really sure which thread I wanted to put this in, but since my comments deal with some spoilers from this episode I have decided this is the place.
Did anyone notice what shows the used to describe the sort of show Castle is for the Paley center PR.
The description of Castle was this:
"Equal parts The Thin Man and McMilan and Wife but with a twenty-first century vibe all it's own"
For me this is interesting because it seems they are working to define the show just a bit different than before, in prior press releases they used shows like Moonlighting meets Murder she wrote.
So this had me thinking, havig Castle & Beckett under the same roof in this eipisode is really a way for TPTB to test that dynamic and see how it will play for the viewer and not actually do it, just like the date episode in The THird Man. At this point the network and TPTB have seen the finished version of this episode and they must have loved how it came out. I cannot help but think that the show has a plan and we are going to see a sneak at the future in episode 18, see how the show may look nearing the 2nd half of season 3.

Mention of Moonlighting and Murder She Wrote gave the potential viewers something with which they could identify, but over time TPTB may have realized that comparisons to Moonlighting in particular might get viewers worried about a similar negative path with Castle in terms of handling the leads' relationship.
It's interesting to think epsiodes like 17/18 might be testing the waters of a C/B relationship in the future, and consider how they might be trying to refine the vision for the show.
