OfflineThis thread is dedicated to your favorite theories for episode 2.18, Boom! It will undoubtedly include discussion of sneek peek videos and photos as well as lots of ideas, and maybe a few will be right on.
So be prepared for spoilers below!
Can anyone confirm, did someone say that fans could figure out what's going to happen from the clues in Tick tick tick? Cuz if that's true, I've got a doozy of a theory:
WARNING: I have the murder mystery of Boom! all worked out and I'm laying it out below. If you're not sure you want to know, then you'd best turn back now.
The Puzzle and it's missing piece:
The murder victims. The Rottie gets away from the Dog Walker (murder victim 2) and kills Fido. Fido's owner (Ben Carlton, who just might be a 4th murder victim) gets him stuffed. Ben wants to bring a civil suit
against… ??? Peterman, the attourney, (Murder vic 1) refuses to take the case on. Conrad can't cough up the dough to bring Fido's precious carcass home, so Ben fights with the taxidermist, (murder vic 3) and Fido is stolen along with the embalming fluid necessary to make bombs.
The missing piece of the puzzle is the rottweiler owner. The owner who had to have his precious dog put down. Why should that vicious dog's owners escape the murderer's wrath? He could have been manipulating Carlton. All we know is the rottweiler was owned by a couple whom had to put their pet down. They also lost a beloved pet. Maybe it's a loose end, or maybe the man feeds on Ben's instability and urges him on, manipulating him somehow?
The Sneak Peaks:
It appears from the sneak peeks, that this second killer's name is Scott, and he wrote a manuscript which is the story these episodes are based on.
Remaining Questions:
A witness saw Carlton leaving Grand Central and got his description, so it seems like he was cooperating with the killer in that. This Ben guy would have to be pretty unstable to pushed into multiple murders.
I'm baffled how the killer pulled off Ben's murder. It seems like Shaw hears the gunshot from the hall and is almost instantly in the door, which would not leave time to position the body and then hide. But that doesn't mean that didn't happen. The FBI wasn't looking for a second person, and the killer is very clever. He could have pulled it off. Maybe even through a bedroom window?
Conclusions:
I'm going to guess Ben might have tried to kill Scott, but Scott is a writer and is gifted with words. He convinced Ben that the ones he really wanted revenge on were the dog walker, the attorney, the taxidermist. And Nikki Heat. (The link to Beckett they gave us on the show feels a bit weak to me.) But the killer, Scott, is really after Shaw. I still think he is probably the Hudson Valley Strangler. Scott is after revenge on the woman responsible for him being taken down all those years ago.
Except why would Scott write a book called "Dead Heat" unless it's because Nikki Heat reminds him of J. Shaw. Maybe. We'll see. And then the fact they said the Rottie was owned by a "couple."
It *almost* all fits in my mind. What do you guys think?

OfflineMy theory is that Shaw has been after this guy for some time and unable to catch him. Why else would she turn up on a murder scene in central park and it's only the second victim. That's damn fast work even for the FBI. So…… she knows this guy or his pattern. From the promo of boom we(I) believe he's someone that knows her as well.(Blue eyed clean shaven guy) I don't believe she is letting Beckett or Castle in on the whole case. Now Beckett and Castle know that the guy is not a newbe serial killer and has been at it a long time.(back to 2004) again per promo. Not sure of his and Shaw'sconnection but think they must have one.Beckett and Castle track down this guy and the deuce hits the fan. Castle has to arm himself and looks like he might get to shoot the perp in the warehouse scene.( I hope) Perp gets hold of Shaw,Beckett and maybe Castle save her and at the same time catch / kill perp. All is revealed. Castle asks Beckett to marry him,she says, are you out of your rabid ass mind Castle but accepts anyway. They marry immediately and start having children like no tomorrow.Live happy ever after.
I'm just sayin…..anything is possible.

You have a point about the Hudson valley case but didn't that guy go to jail? I'm thinking Scott and shaw were involved somehow maybe she screwed him over and he's out for revenge
Yep, he went to jail. This was the guy who was arrested while driving a Yugo with a girl tied up in back.
But don't you think after 19 years, even a serial killer might be able to get some parole? It gives him a motive to want revenge against Shaw, and he's had 19 years to plan how he'd pull it off.
We shall see! Three days left, and three episodes!!!

in one of the spoilers, where castle/beckett/shaw are looking at the killer's wall mural, castle and beckett are reading the dead heat manuscript and it says something like "arrange the bullets like scrabble"… as we saw in the beginning of part one shaw said she played a mean game of scrabble, so the theory that shaw is involved and not telling the whole truth fits.
I noticed that too! I forgot to include it when I copied my post over from ABC.go.com But yes, it confirmation that real target, as one of the first things she says to Castle is that she plays a mean game of scrabble.

To part one of the quote – exactly. I wondered what they were doing there…because it was a cop threatened? because it was a serial killing?
Not explained.
As for part 2 of your quote – …."but accepts anyway"….
Good one!

OfflineHere is something else that "bugs" me about Jordan Shaw – she is a "mommy". In 1991 she is 25 years old, therefore in 2010 she is 44. Granted in this day and age women are having children later in life, but when she was talking on the phone to her "child" she says "mommy has to go arrest someone now" – and to say "mommy" implies a younger child – but maybe up to a 10 year old (she would have been 34). OK so now that I have written it down it does not sound so far fetched.
I think she is involved in the case somehow – even though in the ABC preview it showed her tied up and duct taped up — I think it's a "staged" event to throw Beckett and Castle off her track. And when the stranger says "Hi Jordan" it is because she has tried to change the rules with him and their deal, and he's there to threaten her to keep her side of the bargan.
I KNOW the killer is NOT the "pinky guy" because he was cast only in Tick, Tick, Tick…
Watching the show, looking for/at the same clues the cast is and using outside resources (from the real world not Castle's world) trying to solve the mystery here is fun and frustrating.
Like others have said — the cast and crew do a terrific job on this show!!

Maybe she had a her daughter when she was like in her late 30s.
highly possible as we all know. But ….it's pushing the envelope for complications. Beckett on the other hand is absolutely enthralled with the possibility of being a career woman and having a family. Castle being the smart worldly man that he is picks up on that immediately and starts to formulate his plan for him and Beckett………..thus my theory. Beckett being in her natural prime and seeing Castle as the love of her life, even as she closely guards her secret starts thinking hmmmmmm…. My clock is ticking at 31 and I love Castle,he's rich and loves me.We could make some really beautiful babies together……….just sayin………. anything is possible. Open yourself up to the possibilities
I live for the day when Beckett finally says those three magic words to Castle………………….."It's your baby"

OfflineSorry for me being negative, but I have to agree with Nathan and Stana, that caution is important and when you cross certain bridges there is no turning back…
but the stories are great, they have to get to know each other and learn to repect each other before going any further… the reason they do that is probably because they know they are going to end up together no matter what…. and so do we ^^
