Good catch musiclover.  I had totally forgotten that Castle's middle name would be revealed in this episode!

Well sorry for another post, but I guess I'll post the commentries.

Alexi Hawley's commentary:

Segment 1

00:01

Hi, I’m Alexi Hawley , Co-Producer and writer of
“Wrapped Up In Death.”

01:08

This gargoyle (and the three others on the roof)
were designed by our amazing Production Designer, Alfred Sole.

01:17

The cab driver’s dialogue was my homage to
Midnight Cowboy.

02:06

Flatulent Robot: destined to be the must have
present this Christmas.

04:14

This scene is a good example of what sets our show
apart from other procedurals. We get to have fun while delivering important
information to the audience.

04:37

I did not attend the ’84 Olympics, but I have been
to this museum many times with my kids. They were jealous that I got to spend
the night filming there after the museum closed. (All the museum scenes in the
episode were shot in one night.)

04:45

Coming out of the intensity of our two-parter,
this episode was a nice change of pace for our actors and our crew.

05:07

This is a good example of a writer’s imagination,
as I have never picked up a “chick” at the museum.

05:26

Not to sound like a broken record, but this museum
basement was designed by our Production Designer, Alfred Sole. It was an
incredible set.

06:01

Nathan was originally supposed to take the fedora
off before he went over to the sarcophagus, but as soon as the director and I
saw it on his head, we knew he should keep it on.

08:00

Stana had a hard time keeping a straight face
during this exchange. For some reason, she questioned the normalcy of a Mexican
jaguar attack.

Segment 2

08:53

Bill Roe did a phenomenal job directing this
episode.

09:39

Before anyone heads for Wikipedia, none of the
Mayan names used in this episode are actual historical figures. In fact, I
exercised a fair amount of creative liberty with Mayan history, including the
role mummification played in their culture.

14:05

Nathan’s delivery of “human sacrifice” always
makes me think of Tim Gunn on Project Runway.

Segment 3

16:28

It was only as we were shooting this scene that I
realized how many times Rachel says Stanford’s name (which is not an invitation
to turn that fact into a drinking game).

17:37

Believe it or not, the character of Rupert Bentley
wasn’t in the first draft of this script. Now I can’t imagine the story without
him.

19:34

Stana, Seamus and Jon spent a lot of time trying
to decide what their celebratory display for pulling off the prank would be. As
you can see, they went with the tried and true double high-five.

21:25

Although I would love to take credit, our
Executive Producer Rene Echevarria was actually the one who came up with the
idea of identifying Grimes because he filled out a contest slip at the bank.

22:01

I can vividly remember staring at the page
(computer) trying to figure out how to write this scene. I knew Castle needed
to have a real curse moment, but I also knew that sometimes what you don’t see
is scarier than what you do. Ultimately, I wrote the scene to be funny, not
scary, but I think the fact that you can’t see what’s happening inside the
building actually makes it much funnier than if we showed you everything.

Segment 4

24:06

Many meetings we had about what kind of underwear
Castle should wear.

24:33

This is one of two scenes that were not in the
production draft of the script. When our Script Coordinator, Trish, timed out
the episode (before we started filming) it came in two minutes short.
Therefore, I was asked to write an additional scene. Given that the script
worked well as it was, the challenge was to come up with something that was (a)
funny and (b) didn’t sidetrack the story. So I wrote this, which contains one
of my favorite jokes in the whole show.

28:40

It was Bill Roe’s idea that Beckett never stop
walking. I think it gave the scene great energy.

29:15

Bill kept up the energy by having everyone walking
here as well. What you don’t see is that the room actually ended right where
Beckett finishes talking so all the actors ended up piled up together against a
stack of crates.

Segment 5

30:31

It was also Bill’s idea to have Nathan react to
the news that a K-9 unit was coming. I thought it might be too far of a
call-back to the dog attack, but I was wrong. It works great.

31:00

I have long felt that most investigative shows
are, at their heart, simply Scooby Doo. But where every other cop show runs
away from that idea, I love that our show can actually recognize it and have
fun with it.

31:14

This elevator scene is the second scene that was
not in the production draft. In fact, it was actually shot a week after we had
wrapped the episode. Why? Because the episode was still over a minute short. I
immediately thought of having Castle experience another curse moment, as I felt
it was the one thing we still needed to propel the curse through the rest of
the episode. I thought it was funny on the page, but Nathan took it to a whole
‘nother level.

33:30

I love that the curse becomes grounded in Castle’s
fears about his mortality and his daughter, and that it generates this intimate
moment with Beckett.

34:53

Steve is a rock star. He gave what could have been
a very dry scene such great intensity and personality. And his rapid fire
delivery was infectious. Check out how fast Stana talks in this scene, compared
to the scene with Norton Grimes.

36:04

When we were shooting this scene, I asked Nathan
and Stana to be “decisive in their uncertainty.”

36:22

Four hundred ninety nine years and eight months.

Segment 6

37:51

Which is a book I would totally read.

38:27

Nathan’s eyebrows are the eighth wonder of the
world.

38:42

Navi does a great job with her realization in this
scene.

39:30

This scene makes me happy every time I see it.

39:58

That is actually my shoulder and hand. We grabbed
this shot just before we ran out of time for the night, and Jon Huertas had
already gone home.

40:21

When Stana read this script, she accused me of
reading her mind because she had recently been comparing the show to Scooby
Doo. I knew she did a mean “ruh roh” and asked her to do it on the last take we
shot (which is this one).

42:40

Thanks for watching. I hope you had as fun a time
watching it as we had making it.

I'm not his/her friend, but I could still view it!

But for those who can't see it (or watch it on ABC.com):

Here's Seamus':

Segment 1

00:01

Hi, I’m Seamus Dever, aka Detective Kevin Ryan

01:06

This is on the Paramount back lot. We shot some off “Tick, Tick Tick” and “Boom! ” here as well as the second murder scene in “The Double Down.”

01:59

Molly’s earnestness in this scene is very cute. I’m amazed that Castle lets Alexis do that at the apartment.

02:55

This is only four weeks after I broke my ankle. It’s a fun game in the episode to see how well I cover up my limp. Some scenes I do it better than others.

03:40

I think it’s really funny how we all accept that this is Eat Pray Love due to the color of the book, despite the fact that we never show the cover.

03:54

Alexi Hawley, the writer of this episode, added my line on the day as a tag to the whole Eat, Pray, Love joke. It was a great wrap up of the discussion about the book.

04:35

This scene was filmed at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles in Exposition Park. The last time I was there was the ’84 Olympic Games.

05:12

Currie Graham reminds me a lot of John Laroquette, whom I worked with a few years ago. Currie’s got the same dry sense of comedy as Laroquette.

05:23

We built this entire set on one of our soundstages. It was huge and incredibly detailed – they did some amazing work here that you unfortunately never get a chance to see.

06:05

This obviously an allusion to Raiders of the Lost Ark, one of the best films ever.

06:45

I think Nathan may actually have broken something when he tossed that hat.

07:08

This is Erick Avari, another example of the fantastic guest cast that we get on this show. He has experience working with mummies… You might remember him from the very appropriate The Mummy.

07:57

Thus begins Castle’s extreme paranoia about the curse, which continues throughout the rest of this episode. It’s a very funny throughline.

08:51

This episode is the directorial debut of Bill Roe. Normally he is our director of photography and very much responsible for the way that Castle looks every week. And by the way, he’s a very good director.

09:27

During one take of this scene, Nathan accidentally said “Would have been better than the first one.” I pointed this out to him and he was horrified at the sacrilege.

09:39

I wanted my prop here, the coffee cup, to act as a storytelling device to explain how I bought coffee to aid in my canvassing.

10:04

I loved how earnestly Stana delivers the line here. It would have been so easy to overplay, but we wanted to play it very honestly.

10:52

I nod here, because I play that Ryan speaks Spanish from his years in Harlem.

11:14

It’s been long time, since “The Double Down” in fact, since Esposito and Ryan were in the morgue.

12:15

Real book about Mayan civilization. Fake cover, though.

12:50

Nathan’s plan is to have Castle buy a more comfortable chair now that the old one’s broken.

12:58

Cacaw Te – yet another in a line of difficult to pronounce suspect names. We all have to be on the same page with how to pronounce these names.

14:43

I love the way Gil Birmingham, who plays Cacaw Te, looks into Castle’s soul when he delivers that final line.

16:59

Our costume designer Eduardo used a lot of earth tones in this episode and I love how it reflects the nature of the world we’re investigating. By the way, my mother’s an archeologist – it’s a very dusty world.

17:50

This could be a reference to the recent King Tut exhibit in Los Angeles and its ubiquitous marketing campaign.

18:02

Any guesses as to who Bill is?

19:02

Jon Huertas laughs like air escaping a tire – I’m not sure how he does that and it hurts when I try.

19:30

Great adlib at the end there by Nathan.

19:51

I once had to run three times around the Mark Taper forum in Los Angeles for quoting the Scottish play. Some people are so superstitious that you’re not even allowed to quote it.

21:05

Sound effects by me!

21:38

This is the same location where I shot an episode of Charmed. Fans of that show will recall that it was my mechanic’s shop.

22:13

That dog was the best trained animal I’ve ever seen. It would kill or cuddle on command. By the way, Beckett’s car got a paint job after this episode.

24:29

After years of the theater, nobody knows how to do a monologue like Ruben Santiago-Hudson.

25:15

I call this jacket Beckett’s “Peter Pan on a Safari” jacket.

27:18

Ruben recently started wearing a Captain’s lapel pin that I tracked down and bought for him.

28:33

Ryan is holding his hands behind his back because I noticed that’s the way I walk around museums. I think it’s a psychological gesture to reassure security guards that I won’t touch anything.

28:44

This is Nathan and my ad lib here at the end of the scene.

30:13

When I talk about a K-9 unit, Castle’s reaction was Bill Roe’s idea.

30:59

Welcome to Nathan Fillion’s one man show.

31:40

This is a perfect example of Bill Roe’s cinematic eye.

32:10

Fans of the show may recognize the extras as our regulars – they’ve been on the show since the beginning. They love when they get to help out in scenes like this.

32:53

This reveal and rack-focus is another example of Bill Roe’s skill in telling a story through images.

34:50

Steve Cell, who plays Charles Taylor, had a massive amount of information to convey and handles it with a great sense of urgency.

39:12

This is the probably the funniest catching of a killer that we’ve ever done.

39:36

Bill Roe didn’t want to make me run on my broken ankle. I think it’s funnier

this way – the world’s laziest police chase.

40:01

Third and final Scooby Doo reference, completing the hat trick.

41:48

Our Music Supervisor has a knack for finding the perfect music to close (and open) our episodes. This song in particular is pretty catchy.

42:16

It was an honor to be a part of Bill Roe’s directorial debut. Most of our crew has worked with him for decades and they were very happy to see Bill get his shot at the helm.

And here’s Alexi’s:

Beckett probably has the best jackets/coats on TV.  Well, her and Ellen of Damages.  I love the brown one with the belt, and zipper instead of buttons that she wore last night.  Anyone know where I could get one of those? I'm planning on buying one anyway for a trip.

I think this is the one that Seamus refers to in the commentary as  the "Peter Pan on a safari" jacket!  Laugh  I liked it, too.

I'm sure the Castle fashion site could be pursuaded to look for it!

Yeah, I did noticed last night in one of the scenes, Stana was talking fast. I was like "Whoah, that was fast!"

Thanks for the commentaries shutthefrontdoor and mollylittlecastle.  I really need to wait for generous fans to post these rather than suffer through them out of sync on the abc site!  But I am impatient.

It was the elevator scene that was an add-in, right?  I can't imagine the episode without that.  Nathan was stellar in that.

I loved the references to the world's laziest police chase by Seamus…that may have been the funniest thing in the episode to me.  Stana was hilarious!

SO funny, loved it! Just what I needed after a hard day.
The serious episodes are great, but the comedy is one of the major reasons I love this show smile

EVERYONE did a great job, no idea how they were able to make it through the scenes without busting out laughing! Laugh
