Don't think so. There was math to do, and I clicked the usual button to post. I did notice that instead of taking me to the page where I posted I got dropped over at the main forum, but just assumed other glitches were being worked out. Maybe I just did something strange without even thinking about it.

Oooh, new thought–is it because I did the math wrong? (I think I will crawl in a hole and die a little bit if that's the case Sealed&nbspwink

hmm, could have been, though I don't think you can click the post button if you get the math wrong. Do you get asked the math every time? I think I may need to alter some settings for the new sections I created today.

I was just thinking that, too. As soon as I put in the math, the option to post appears. I don't get asked math every time, but it seems when I do it's for the same threads. Does that help any?

I'm not exactly sure what preparing an ending really means at this point. Do we know what episode they're filming right now? Let's say they film 10 episodes and then ABC decides to pull it after the 13 episode run. I'm assuming the writers might tweak scripts/storyline to give us fans some closure in those last 3 episodes. Or if ABC picks up a full season they need to decide if they wrap up certain storylines in case they don't get a 3rd season renewal. I guess it doesn't mean much until they know either way. Pretty much every where I've read the decision should be made by the end of November at the latest. So we won't have to wait too long to know either way.

They're working on the 7th episode at the moment I would think. I think they finished the Halloween one last week. That's filming anyway, no idea how many of the eps are in pre-production.

If they're filming the 7th episode already then they should have the 13 episodes (on order) done by the time ABC makes a decision. Interesting. Only for the fact that if ABC decides to pull it then we're left with whatever ending the writers have given us in that episode.

Someone on the television without pity board explained in better detail what tvbythenumbers index rating means. The most obvious point is that it's strictly by the numbers (18-49 demo). It doesn't factor in other ratings (DVR, Hulu, ABC site), the cost of production, and the possibility to build an audience over time. It lists the shows by network to show how each is performing. Remember this is very early but out of all the scripted shows for ABC, Castle is last in performance during premiere week. It comes down to whether the network believes it can plug in another show that will peform better.

I think and hope that ABC is looking at all the numbers, not just the live viewing, but also DVR/TiVO numbers and online watching of the show at their website or Hulu. And I hope these are good enough for them to not let this great show die.

I don't know why tvbythenumbers feel the need to speculate like this. What are they trying to achieve? The only thing they're doing is causing anxiety to an already anxious bunch. Yell

As far as I know, ABC and Fox are the two networks that consider other viewing options when it comes to keeping a show. Like DVR/Tivo, official site, and Hulu so that could factor in even though it doesn't count in the official ratings. I think we'll see networks head in that direction eventually but it's going to be a slow transition. As of right now tv is where the money is at.

I hate to get excited about a show doing poorly but The Forgotten took a huge dip from last week. Not just in viewers but it fell to a 2.0 in the key demo. I'm sure ABC will give it a few more weeks but Castle already went ahead of it in the index rating. It would be an even bigger boost for Castle if Eastwick took a similiar fall tonight.

I apologize if I'm hoping for the demise of a show someone likes here but it's just I want Castle to succeed first.

From ABC press release:

"Castle" Producing its strongest "DWTS" retention ever, ABC's "Castle" topped NBC's "Jay Leno" by 3.7 million viewers (9.2 million vs. 5.5 million) and by 29% in Adults 18-49 (2.2/6 vs. 1.7/4).

* "Castle" was up from its week-earlier season premiere in Women 18-34 (2.1/6 vs. 2.0/6) and Women 18-49 (3.2/9 vs. 3.1/8).

ABC seems happy with Castle's numbers so that makes me happy. They continue to tout how it's improved in certain areas so that tells me they're not strictly looking at the key demo alone.

The official Nielsen ratings DO include the DVR and Internet numbers for 7 days after the show airs. I'm not sure how much that pulls up the numbers for Castle, as I haven't gone back to compare. (And of course, one can't do that for this week yet anyway.)

Speaking of Television Without Pity, does anyone know why they don't give Castle its own section and do recaps for it? Is there some way to convince them they should?
