Like DVR/Tivo, official site, and Hulu so that could factor in even though it doesn't count in the official ratings. I hate to get excited about a show doing poorly but The Forgotten took a huge dip from last week. Not just in viewers but it fell to a 2.0 in the key demo. I'm sure ABC will give it a few more weeks but Castle already went ahead of it in the index rating. It would be an even bigger boost for Castle if Eastwick took a similiar fall tonight.

From ABC press release:

"Castle" Producing its strongest "DWTS" retention ever, ABC's "Castle" topped NBC's "Jay Leno" by 3.7 million viewers (9.2 million vs. 5.5 million) and by 29% in Adults 18-49 (2.2/6 vs. 1.7/4).

* "Castle" was up from its week-earlier season premiere in Women 18-34 (2.1/6 vs. 2.0/6) and Women 18-49 (3.2/9 vs. 3.1/8).

ABC seems happy with Castle's numbers so that makes me happy. They continue to tout how it's improved in certain areas so that tells me they're not strictly looking at the key demo alone.

The official Nielsen ratings DO include the DVR and Internet numbers for 7 days after the show airs. I'm not sure how much that pulls up the numbers for Castle, as I haven't gone back to compare. (And of course, one can't do that for this week yet anyway.)

Speaking of Television Without Pity, does anyone know why they don't give Castle its own section and do recaps for it? Is there some way to convince them they should?

And shouldn't they also add in the viewership from Minn and Green bay, since those folks don't get the pre-empted Castle episode until this weekend?  That should increase the ratings as well.

I'm not sure how TWoP chooses what shows have their own forum? Some big shows don't even have them while some lesser known ones do.

When did they start including DVR ratings into the Nielsen system? Tvbythenumbers put out a list of the top 25 DVR shows earlier this week and Castle wasn't among them.

Nice ratings on the repeat last night, I think…Castle was getting this for an original episode earlier in the season!

And note that Berman has Castle as a "shoo-in" for renewal for 2010-2011!Smile

It's so great that you posted that link in this thread dmcw,

really, I was looking back at this thread when Double Down first premiered and everyone was all "well maybe things will get better" and wondering if this show would be giving the back 9.

LOL it's so wonderful how things have turned around!! You know Castle is doing well when Bill at tvbythenumbers can't put a negative spin on it!
