Aside from Castle all viewer numbers seemed to drop this week.
Castle placed only a smidge behind CSI:Miami in the key demographic this week as it returns to new episodes after a repeat last week. Castle did come out tops for total viewers for the hour with over a million more viewers than CSI:Miami.
Perhaps the most significant thing to note is that Castle picked up viewers in both 18-49 demo and overall numbers from the lead-in, unfortunate news for ABC's comedy Romantically Challenged.

Not bad. Was hoping for a little higher but considering it's following RC which is not that good, it's a good sign that it ticked up instead of down. I wonder if RC will tick down because of DWTS.

I would like it if ABC moved RC to another night. DWTS and Castle seemed like such a win-win combination. RC is just kind of wedged in there and seems out of place to me. Doesn't ABC have a comedy night?

I don't know what ABC is doing with RC but it won't air on Monday the next two weeks. Castle will be back to airing directly after DWTS for the final two episodes.
Marc Berman put Castle in the winners section again.
RC will definitely tick down because of the DWTS overrun. Castle has ticked down .1 the last two weeks so it'll be interesting to see if it does the same this week. Since it was up over RC I wouldn't think so but we'll see. Also of interest is that CSI: Miami has been ticking down .2 the last couple episodes. So it's quite possible that Castle will over take CSI or at the very least tie in the finals.
ABC has to be happy that Castle was flat in the key demo and up in viewers on a night that all shows were down. Castle even had more viewers this year than it did last year despite having DWTS as its lead in last year. Not to mention that Castle grew out of RC last night.
While I wish the key demo was up we have plenty to be happy about with the ratings last night.

First – My family loves Castle (the college aged son even has his buddies at school watching
)
Second – the ratings are going the right direction
Third – I do not think that Castle can "stand on its own yet" – meaning that DWTS gives it a big boost. After next season (3) it should be able to anchor a night without DWTS. Also the "let's find your family" and "Romantically Challenged" filler shows - both caused Castles ratings to not be as high / strong as they could have been.
Fourth – I am not a prude (FAR from it) but Romantically Challenged is a drag on Castle – I have to turn it off, then remember to turn on the TV before 10pm (yea thats not hard to do – its Castle after all). You would think that ABC would learn from Castle – RC is just about totally opposit – there is NO "dance", "sword play", or charm. It's mostly about the wam bam thank you (or NOT) mam – no story, no build up. It embarassing.
Fifth – I saw on the DWTS page last weeks "behind the scene with Sabrina(?)" that they went into Tom Bergeron's room and he has a directors chair from Bobby Mann Live (he does not talk about it) – the bit with Tom starts around 2:00 and you get a good view of the chair @ 3:20

The finals are in. Castle dropped down a tick while CSI: Miami did not. We still beat them in total viewers though.

As long as the ratings stay in the double digits, I'm not worried. It shows that while Castle may not be the top show every week, it's still got a core base of 9 or 10 million very loyal viewers. Plus, lots of well known actors and actresses seem to want to be on the show because of its welcoming atmosphere and its fun storylines which bodes well, and I talk to friends and family all the time who say they either have liked for the show for some time and watch every week or they just started, so it has good buzz going too. Plus, the Nikki Heat books give it a good bump too.
Great ratings! I can't wait to see the ratings for the last two weeks of the season.

We need the demo ratings to stay up and increase, getting back up to the 2.8-3.0+ would be the best. The networks don't really care about the total viewers because advertising dollars are almost solely based on the 18-49 demo. While they like to pump up the total viewers in press releases, it is really the 18-49 they are concerned with, that's how they make their money, so to speak. What I don't understand is how this show doesn't have a great demo rating, it seems that most folks on this site, on twitter, on other boards etc are in the demo. It would seem, statistically, that it would translate into high demo ratings. So get your demo friendly friends who are nielsen viewers to watch Castle! and especially for the next two episodes and the repeats, this is when the Advertisers set their ad rates for next year so higher demo ratings for Castle, more ad dollars for Castle, happier it makes ABC.

That's my only concern in the ratings recently. The total viewers show a loyal following but it really needs to get back up there in the key demo to continue.
Just a little over a month ago we logged our highest demo with a 3.5 along with a 3.3, 3.0 and 2.9 so it's a little disappointing to see the demo's closer to the beginining of the season.
Like m_hanh, I don't understand why we don't have a more consistent demo.

Kind of a disappointing demo, but at least we're keeping up the double digit viewers.
It will never stop being weird to me that a TV show can easily get twice as many viewers as there are people in my country Finland. 
We are so very small.
