OfflineSo, everyone's buzzing about this upcoming season finale. Beckett and Castle finally realize their true feelings for one another, and there are decisions to be made. However, I keep finding too many theories and statements that have them NOT getting together and not enough that have them becoming a couple. That being said, I just have to do something about it.
MY TAKE ON THEM BEING A COUPLE: I am a rarity in that I don't think it's too soon for Castle and Beckett to get together. I also don't believe that it will ruin the show–I mean, a crime-fighting power couple is classic stuff, and it works. Another thing I don't believe is that they would lose their banter. Couples argue all the time. Kind of like how Van and Cheyenne on Reba always fight, but they're still madly in love at the end of the day (their situation is different, but take that concept and turn it into the Castle/Beckett version).
MY TAKE ON THE SEASON FINALE: Logic and reason have C and B choosing each other in the end. A few points…
- The last five episodes of the season ("The Late Shaft" included) are setting the stage for this decision. Why would the writers go through the trouble of doing this only to have C and B decide not to pursue a relationship? And, let's face it, a storyline on this show that lasts that long has to mean something important. It's not Desperate Housewives where you have the same thing going on for half a season.
- Why would they realize their attraction to one another if it wasn't going to lead to something for them? It would be pointless–you might as well just continue with the usual dance instead of ruining it.
- For Beckett to choose Demming, knowing that she has feelings for Castle, would be a pretty lame move. Could a heartbroken Castle bear to work with her after that? And, if he did continue to work with her (which has to happen for there to even be a show), it would be very awkward and the chemistry would be lost.
- As for Castle, his ex-wife (Gina, not Meredith) is supposed to come back into his life. I don't see him actually getting back together with her, since their relationship was never good in the first place. That was made pretty clear in the pilot episode. And, in "Tick, Tick, Tick…" he said, "Aside from my second wife, this is the most sexless relationship I've ever been in." Does that sound like a happy marriage to you? So, it's safe to say that he won't be choosing her over Beckett.
Anyway, that's what I have to say on the matter. I though the shippers needed some optimism. Feedback, please.

OfflineI LOVE YOU FOR ADDING REBA INTO THE MIX!!! lol Not only do I LOVE that show, Reba McEntire is one of my biggest idols!
I, like you do not believe that the show would be ruined by making them an official couple. However, I do not think they'll be getting together this season, it is more likely that it could happen nearing the end of season 3….
I want to see them together as badly as any other Castle/Beckett shipper, and I'd be over the moon with joy IF they did get together by the finale, but the chances of that, to me, seem slim. And honestly, I am happy with the way they have persued the relationship so far, it's obvious they'll end up together at some point, but the question is always, when and how. I am glad they didn't rush into the relationship, Beckett doesn't seem like that type of girl, sure she took on Demming quickly, but Demming wasn't married and divorced two times (that we know of, seeing as not much is actually known about the guy). The only relationship I couldn't stand AT ALL was Castle with Ellie….yuck! Still can't believe she's gonna be Nikki in 'the movie'….if we're lucky, that'll change (but i doubt we'd like who they chose anyways cause no one compares to Stana…but I still say it would have been funny if Castle was like "oh u know who'd make a good Nikki Heat? Stana Katic…She's hot" LOL)
Alrighty, so I may have gone a little off topic, or just wrote too much…lol so I'm gonna leave it at that

Kudos! Love the post and I'm right there with you on everything. I really, really hope that TPTB don't chicken out and decide that C&B don't need to be a couple after all. That would just ruin TV for me.

OfflineThanks for the post HeatXWave10. I agree with your take on them being a couple. I just think they aren't going to go there quite yet…although I'd be more than happy if they did. But I think the Castle team has always steered the relationship in the right direction, and I think that whatever happens in the finale, it will result in something positive for C/B in the beginning of season 3…even if it's just that they have realized their feelings and it changes the dynamic between them…and takes them into a new phase of their relationship. I don't see Season 3 being filled with angst or a huge leap backward for them…you're right…why would they have built things to this point if not to carry their relationship forward? I am hopeful…maybe not for the end of this season…but definitely for Season 3.

OfflineThis may just be me but I have the feeling that the season ends with an enormous cliff. Either Castle bails because he can't take Beckett with Demming or the resolution waits till ep 1 season 3. I think however it ends it will be well written and make sense. The writers have surprised me often enough that I don't see the hack kneed cliches coming from them. I hope Castle tells Gina where to go. I would really be disapointed if he went there. In the pilot she was well if unsimpatheticly played and Castle's description in Tick Tick Tick just reinforced that that image. I see castle and Beckett realizing how they feel but not sure of what to do for fear of messing with what they have. I agree that somewhere in season 3 things will start to heat up. I just glad this isn't Bones or they would be in a holding pattern for another 3 years.
