OfflineThanks for the futoncritic link. I think I'll try stopping by there from now on.
I agree with you that they should post an increase as it is instead of focusing on the tick down. We know it's always going to be that way since ABC shows run over the hour.
I'm hopeful the word of mouth from last nights episode and the surge in book sales improve the numbers even more.

OfflineI'm afraid I'm not familiar with the sites others are mentioning re: ratings. But I do watch the Nielsens, and it's very encouraging that Castle was #28 this week overall – a very respectable number considering that other shows that are considered "successful" scored much lower. It also did #2 in its time period — could be better, but could be worse, too. Believe me, the networks pay as much, if not more, attention to how a show does in its time period than they do to its overall slot or anything else. So the fact that it's beating Jay Leno in the time period is great (sorry Jay!). I wrote to ABC again this week to tell them that I loved the episode — did anyone else do that, too? Let's just hold good thoughts! Next week's show sounds fantastic, too.
Excellent points. A lot of things are taken into consideration when looking at the ratings. Views by hulu and feedback also definately make a dfference – I have that on good authority. Castle is doing fine and writercastle "himself" posted that it's doing fine. Nobody knows better than those directly involved with the show so we can trust what they say -this is their baby and you can bet they keep a very close eye on everything!
That said, while it's doing fine it can certainly do better and the more we show support now by encouraging others to watch and rewatch via hulu and respond positively to the ABC the more chance we'll have castle well into the future -and we all want that!!
Just remember when you're spreading the word that your enthusiastic love of the show will want to make people tune in more than doom and gloom will.

*** Question: Where did you find the Nielsens rating of #28? (I looked all over and can only get the top 10)

As of now the Castle repeat won its hour last night. It's worth noting that CSI: Miami and L+O were repeats as well but what an accomplishment for Castle. Again.
Good grief, look at those numbers for a repeat.
2.0 in the key demo and just over 8 million viewers. Way to go Castle fans.

Thanks Jamz! I know, isn't it awesome? Someone on the Berman site made the point that even though there was a tie in the demo between Castle and CSI, Castle had the lower lead-in and the episode is in it's third repeat this season…and it pulled those great numbers and more viewers. That makes it even more amazing news.
Curious what will happen next week…just one more week with the RC lead-in for now?
