GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!
Must. Calm. Down.
That was way too much fun. Will have to collect my thoughts after 2nd viewing tomorrow, but I just want to post a few questions that popped up during tonight's episode…
1. Neither of those families realized that their kids didn't look like theirs? Blond-haired parents have a dark-haired boy and vice-versa? Guess only one of them thought to look into it and look what happened to her. Very sad. Jose Molina was right- laughing and crying tonight.
2. Beckett knows that Castle had finished the book way before this ep, and she didn't think he was writing more- so why is she not questioning him for still being around? He must not be quite as annoying as she makes him out to be, huh?
Ok, one comment. The dual phone call at the end was just awesome. Too cute and clever.

The dual phone calls were definitely a cute touch. And it helped break the tension, that is until Beckett looked like she was going to kill Castle

I agree!! What can I say: No surprises that I absolutely loved this episode already!! I love that Debi's character was kind of jealous that KB got a full book and she only got a measly chapter!!
The car scene was awesome!! I really do think that RC and KB have their best moments when its just them…and a car!! :P
I will hafta watch the episode again to catch minor details but I hope DWTS and their mention of Castle will help Castle get more viewers!!

Loved tonight's episode. I wanted to smack Castle at the book signing though. They were having a nice heart-to-heart conversation, and then he switches to talking about the case. The disappointment was clear on poor Beckett's face. I had the same feeling of shame with Martha too, with her comment about Beckett possibly not wanting Castle around anymore.
Things I loved:
-The dedication in the book. I love how he put "KB" instead of actually putting her name there. I think that's something that Beckett probably would have appreciated.
-Debi Mazar's character and what she did for Castle and Beckett's relationship. The whole possibility of the british secret agent (who shall not be named) was just the thing needed to give them a little push.
-The scene at the end with the phone calls. Castle looked ecstatic about the news, and even though he had nothing to do with it, he clearly wasn't sorry. And I think Beckett's frustration was mostly about the fact that she's the last person to find out about these things that directly involve her. You can tell that she was really relieved to have Castle sticking around.
The only thing that bothered me: Would it have killed Castle to hug her? A hand shake just won't do after all they've been through. :P

I enjoyed the episode, but was disappointed that they did not spend as much time at the book party. Debi' character was a hoot to watch as well. I also felt that they rushed at the end to have everything work out. Beckett did show so much emotion and was leading Castle to say the right thing, like staying in NY to see her.
Was it me or did Castle quickly decided to leave without considering how it might affect the budding relationship with Beckett. I guess that I wanted to have Castle and Beckett have a little longer serious conversations.

I think the whole issue was that he automatically assumed she didn't want him around because of what Martha said. Her advice when it comes to Beckett is usually pretty helpful, so it makes sense that he'd agree with what Martha said. And he cares about Beckett a lot, so if she wanted them to part ways, he would probably do it because it's what she wanted. We've seen before that he makes decisions that involve Beckett without actually stopping to think what she might have to say about it. The book deal on the side just pushed him to make that decision sooner.

Just wanted to add one more piece of awesome that I noticed before I sleep and forget about it.
When Paula and Rick are talking about the certain British secret agent, listen really closely to the background music. To whomever does the music- Feed the birds.

ooh!! Darn i won't be able to re-watch for a while!! What was the background music?
Also, did anyone else notice that there wasn't the whole "There are 2 types of people who sit around all day thinking about how to murder somebody – psychopaths and mystery writers…I'm the kind that pays better…who am I?…Castle Castle Castle…every artist needs inspiration…Beckett Beckett Beckett" introduction before the episode? OR was it just my tv?

Very British spy who can't be named-sounding. Might rhyme with Old-linger, or something like that

OH… MY… GOD… That was nothing short of electric.
The scene at the book signing. One second you almost expect them to lock lips, the next they look like they're going to draw knives. Just fantastic.
Then the scene at the end, essentially cementing their partnership for the long term… just great.
Even the case was pretty good. I found myself quite moved by the actor who played the immigrant father. All round great, great stuff.
MORE! I want MORE!!

Ah, totally. I didn't even get the reference to 007 until I heard the music! Totally thought "the certain British spy" was one of Castle's past characters or something…
Overall a nice ep, really great. Totally had me guessing on both scenarios: Castle and Beckett's as well as Eliska's murder.
Such a sweet scene at the end, with the Eliska's ex meeting Zane… very cute. I loved that look C/B shared, kinda like "Aw, we helped do that."
And I totally died at the car scene! Kate totally looked like she was going to say something meaningful if the nurse hadn't shown up.
Teaser looks great (as usual) for next week's Can't wait!

I loved this episode, though for different reasons than I loved last week's episode. Last week's episode explored the playful side of their relationship, while this week delved a little deeper into their true feelings. If you'd asked Beckett what she thought about their relationship at the beginning of the episode, she would have said he was an annoying distraction who she'd be much better off without. But that was before she was confronted by the fact that the relationship had an expiration date, and that the date was fast approaching.
Castle's mother did a great job of undermining his self-confidence in this episode, though in a loving fashion. The point she made about Beckett getting along just fine without him clearly hadn't occurred to him until it was said out loud, and that neatly cut away one of his potential reasons for staying where he was. Thinking "I can't leave! She needs me!" doesn't wash when the person in question doesn't actually need you. And once he'd started looking at the problem in that light, he started picking up signs where there weren't any that she really didn't want him around.
As great as this episode was, the scene that made me laugh the hardest and longest was during the previews for next week's episode. If you watch really closely, you'll see his halloween costume…and boy is it a doozy. It made my night.

My favorite episode so far. Stana looked stunning in the dress. I think she wore the dress on purpose. She was practically saying if you leave you'll never see this body again. It's a shame that Castle moved on to another subject and killed the mood. The facial expressions of Beckett were great. You can tell she really didn't want him to leave.

Well said! This episode had so many layers that it's hard to take it all in with one viewing. You knew they couldn't possibly part ways, but it didn't really lessen the anxiety. Such truly excellent writing this year; they are really making these characters jump off the screen.

Another solid episode. They do keep getting better and better.
The murder mystery was emotional. That scene at the end was touching. I admit I got a little tear in my eyes.
Stana has really nailed the facial/body language down this season. We know she's good at the poker face but when she lets her feelings flash across her face it's really something to watch. Castle, you dope. At the book signing she was putty in your hands until you changed the subject. The bickering afterwards and at the station was cute. Did you see the look on his face when she told him not to forget his toys? Awww.
The dual phone call was perfect. I was laughing out loud so much I had to rewind a few times.
"I'm going to kill you … I wasn't talking to you sir."
I loved how Stana walked away after Esposito called with a murder like she was pissed off. She starts to smile then gets serious before turning back to Castle and asking, "Are you coming or not?"
I must watch it again tonight. Then have my mom over for another viewing. I love this show!

I had a mixed reaction to this episode. There were things I liked and things I didn't. When I consider all of them, I'd say it was an okay episode. Here's what I didn't like: Lanie was not in this episode at all. Someone wrote a book about her best friend and she didn't go to the launch party? That's surprising to say the least. I don't know what's going on with Tamala. Maybe she's on break from Castle so that she can work on another project, but I don't like it. Give her a better contract so she's comitted. According to IMDb, Tamala will not be in any more episodes following next week's. That's a shame. I was looking forward to scenes with Lanie & Beckett this season.
After having caught her reading his book in the bathroom, Castle seems to have given up the chase completely. Did anyone else realize that he didn't say anything to Beckett about how she looked at the party? He's now started treating her like one of the guys. This is fine, but now Beckett needs to chase him. And if he's not doing the Bond series, then I guess she won't have to try very hard. I dunno. I thought some time apart would be interesting or maybe if he took more time to make a decision about the Bond thing before the Nikki Heat offer came in. I wanted to see Beckett squirm for more than one episode.
What the heck is Beckett's problem with Karpowski? Every time that poor woman has helped Beckett, she just walks away with the information without saying thank you. Beckett thanks everyone else. It's strange.
What I liked: Stunts! Honey-milk's slide across the countertop and Iceposito's tackle…..NICE! Beckett goes over to the Captain when she arrives at the party. That was awesome. I loved Castle's Czech mate line, but no Beckett eye roll after that? C'mon. No in the whole episode. Castle's other best line, 'Oh c'mon, what man has ever turned you away?' Tables are turning and he doesn't even realize it. This is going to be fun to watch! Funny scene, 'Well that's it then. We hit everyone in the building.' [Lady with suitcase is leaving.] 'Did you?' [shakes head, no] 'Did you?' [shakes head, no] 'Miss!' Again, with multiple shots of the Chrysler building…..luv it.

The only thing that had me wondering after I watched this episode was if Castle was just signed on for three more Nikki Heat books, does that mean we get three more Nikki Heat books as well? Hm, Summer Heat and In Heat were some of the other titles he brainstormed back in season one.

Hey Boston…Your post episode reviews are great, since you think just like me. Overall I enjoyed the show, but from the previews I was hoping for so much more. The comment about the dedication of the book and what he said about her was great, but how can he think of the murder when such a breathtaking woman is right in front you. Can he be that jaded since he has been with so many woman?
Castle other line about 'any man who turned away', and he did not even pay attention to her reaction. We can all see her feelings, but not him. I will watch the show again tonight and see anything else that I missed.
All ready for episode 6

There are still I think 5 eps in this 13 to have cast listed so Lanie may well be in some of the coming episodes.

In the whole I thought this was a really good effort. Best show so far this year. Sadly I think they put too much into one show. The book launch and the case would have been enough. We still didn't get Kate's reaction to the book. We know she is a Castle fan so she is predisposed to like anything he wrote, but a book based on her (generally a very private person) had to have had an effect. She alludes to it, but we don't see it.
I think the book deal for "the other guy" could have been in a separate episode and could have been milked A LOT though out another case. They could have gotten Ryan and Esposito into it which would rub Beckett the wrong way. Of course someone could have commented that Nikki Heat could be the next Bond Girl (that would have been a humorous inside joke for Stana). I also would have preferred the decision to stay with Nikki Heat be more of a harder choice. It was obvious for the money and sales, but what if the book hadn't take off but did well. What if the money was better for the other book. What if Castle CHOSE to stay with Nikki Heat for the STATED reasons of working his creation and an underlying reason of staying with Beckett.
I think the ideas in the ep were GREAT, they just felt rushed.
LOVED Debra Mazar. She needs to stay around more. Funny how the women that Castle KEEPS in his life keep him 'grounded'. Hmmmmm …
Looking forward to more fun and games next week. Thanks to all to put their time effort and energy into an hour of my entertainment.

THAT would've been awesomely clever. Good call! Someone find that writer and tell them they missed a good one!
I wondered about Tamala being gone, too. Seems pretty obvious to me that they brought in Perlmutter because they knew they'd be needing a back-up M.E. Especially considering his 1st ep was The Double Down which was originally supposed to be #4, right? I like Perlmutter- particularly the bit this episode where he's snarking at Ryan and then being completely helpful to Beckett. Little crush, maybe? Not that I don't miss Lanie! I do hope her absence is temporary.
I really liked this episode, all of it. I don't understand why so many of you are expecting Castle and Beckett to get things moving already. How many interviews have gone by saying they are going to take their time? Change your expectations a little, and enjoy the dance…
1. Castle's decision to write Nikki Heat instead of Bond based on $$ instead of feelings? YES, perfect! Neither one of them is about to admit anything in that department for awhile. We're so not going there yet. But we still need to have them working together indefinitely. Brilliant. No doubt, something else will come up somewhere further down the line to force this idea of choosing Beckett over fame/money/success in some way.
2. Castle not fawning all over Beckett at the book release? Or course not! He has it in his head that she wants to be rid of him. Let's not forget that he's self-absorbed and isn't really looking for for what she wants. That's who he is. So because he wants to be around her, he's trying to stop doing those things that have annoyed her in the past, regardless of what she wants right now. Remember, it's almost always about him. Besides, I wouldn't change that scene for the world.

Loved the episode. When Castle went from "You're extraordinary" to talking about work I was like "No! No! No! Don't blow it, man! She's dressed up, thanking you, and smiling – just gorgeous! What more do you need?" And as the conversation went on I was like "Yeah! Their first fight! Their first real – illogical statements – insulting each other – tempers rising – fight!" I'm both very disappointed and very satisfied at the same time.
Also liked how Castle was captivated by Beckett while talking to Paula. The pause when she asked "Do you call her back" – he wasn't paying his full attention to that conversation…
Beckett has a dilemma, though. She's a very private person, and doesn't like having her life invaded and displayed for all to see through the Nikki Heat books. Even she herself said "There's a sex scene in the book? Between us?" in episode 204 – not making the distinction between herself and Nikki for a moment. On the other hand she's enjoying working with Castle, when they solve cases together like figuring out the scam at the end of episode 204 they're on fire. And she's having fun. As far as I remember all her complaints were about the Nikki Heat books in this episode, not about having Castle around. But she can't have one without the other…
