When the explanation for the baby swap was rolled out during Monday's episode I saw an interesting episode crash and burn.  That explanation was so weak my 9 year old grandson could have picked it apart.  First,  swapping tags on newborns is very difficult without cutting the tape (which someone would have noticed).  Second,  the obstetrician would have had a discussion with the mother (at sometime during her pregnancy) on the difficulties of having a child with a terminal illness.  If the obstetrician had been asked by the husband not to say anything then he would have certainly noticed the change in the records when he did the followup.  All in all, the writer(s) blew this one.

The dad was the doctor. That's the only way he got away with it. Listen again a little more closely- he says that he discovered it while she was pregnant and didn't know how to tell her.

Of course stuff like this could be picked apart by people who do the real thing for a living (or I guess even people who don't)… my aunt used to go on and on about how "ER" was totally unrealistic to what really goes on in an emergency room, and yet she owns every season on DVD :)

It's just good TV :) But I agree, kinda weak there.

You can find similar "holes" in every TV show. Every Castle episode has a couple of "issues" that are equally implausible.  Start with the fact the only way a report/writer would be allowed to sit in on an interrogation would be if that person was the suspect being interrogated. 

We watch shows like Castle for entertainment, not for reality.   You want a "workable" explanation.  Anticipating an issue with the amnio the doctor ordered the amnio and had the results sent to him and not to the ob gyn. Or the results came to him electronically, he altered the results then forwarded them to the ob gyn.

Clubs use hospital style wrist bands to differentiate between customers old enough to drink and younger customers. I understand some people are able to remove the bracelets by stretching them.  You have to suspend belief enough to think the bracelets were put on loose enough to slide off after being stretched.
