From Media release for week beginning 10/26

ABC's "Castle" outperformed NBC's "Jay Leno" in the 10 o'clock hour with its largest margins to date in both Total Viewers (+5.3 million viewers – 10.0 million vs. 4.7 million) and Adults 18-49 (+92% – 2.5/7 vs. 1.3/4). In addition, the sophomore drama registered season highs in Total Viewers (10.0 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.5/7), attracting the show's largest audience in 7 months (since 3/16/09) and the series' 3rd largest Total Viewer count overall.

* One of TV's biggest gainers in the 10 o'clock hour this season, ABC's "Castle" is generating substantial increases over its first-reported numbers through DVR playback, picking up an average 1.6 million viewers and an additional 6-tenths of an Adult 18-49 rating point (+26%) from the initially reported Live + Same Day Numbers to the Live + 7 Day DVR finals.

* On average, "Castle" is improving the time period year to year for ABC, growing its hour over the same nights last year with "Boston Legal" in both Total Viewers (+1.1 million – 10.3 million vs. 9.2 million) and Adults 18-49 (+8% – 2.6/7 vs. 2.4/6).

I love reading the ABC press releases because they're always so positive. Downside is that they even talk up the shows that are obviously not doing so well like Hank and Eastwick for example.

I think it's really good to see that Castle posted the 3rd best overall numbers last week. And that it had it's best numbers since last season. If they can keep posting the numbers that got them renewed last season I like our chances for a season 3. Still a ways to go, I know, but Castle is improving in other areas such as DVR, women, 18-34 demo, all the while getting the key demo back up to last year. Would love for it to climb higher but at least we're moving in the right direction compared to the beginning of the season.
