Offline2.5 is kind of the ideal number, right? I mean, anything higher is great, but 2.5 is the number shows have to at least have to stay on the air I thought. I remember when Castle was getting 2.2 and 2.3, reading something like, "2.0 is canceled and 2.5 is what keeps shows on the air, so 2.3 is too low to keep but too high to axe…etc etc." I ask because once again TVBytheNumbers has put Castle on cancel watch. I swear, that site just hates us or something! *grumble grumble* …I've been feeling pretty positive since we got the back nine, and even better with this week's ratings.

OfflineIt's my understanding a 2.5 was the lowest a network would allow a show to stay on the air. If a network is rebuilding or the network thinks a show can grow then they might give it a chance. Castle is a good example where ABC felt strongly that it could build an audience despite the low demo numbers. We got off to a shaky start but we've slowly built up. ABC has to be happy with that since it gave it the full season this year. Will it be enough to get it renewed next year if we're pulling similiar numbers? I don't know. It depends on what shows ABC has in the wings and whether they think those shows can do better than what Castle is doing.
Even with our numbers going up the average for our 6 episodes is still a 2.3 so the best we can hope for is that we stabalize around a 2.5 the rest of the year or get better yet.
