I liked it ….. kinda wished that the "Explosive secret" was more… well, explosive!!! Although I didn't have much hopes that it was going to be shocking.  After all, Alexis is the same girl who in season 1 felt so bad about not swiping her card to take the subway!! Also wished they had shown her talk with BEckett – could've been a real bonding moment.

Kinda glad that the kiss wasn't on Castle's part and that Castle pulled away quickly!!

Some cute moments between Castle and Beckett … I liked that Castle stood up for the locksmith-wannabe guy!! Them in the car with Beckett was awesome … and then Castle learning how to pick the handcuff lock!! lol.

Didn't see the murderer coming.  Really did feel bad for the call-girl!! I trust wayyyyy too easily!!

That's all for now, will re-watch soon!!

I was somewhat disappointed with this episode. It seemed that Beckett's character is overly calm and seemed to have the case of the "blah" in the beginning, as if Stana was having an off day. Granted, it picked up as the episode progressed but the beginning sentiment left an impression with me. Also, the interactions between the characters did not gel and sparkle as it usually did, at least to me it didn't. Perhaps there were more long takes than short takes and jump cuts, presenting an elongated rhythm to the filming… I don't know. And come on, all the hype and Alexis's big secret was a foreign exchange program? And she decided not to do it because she would miss Castle's birthday; as if there aren't a hundred other programs with different time tables that she could try out. I still love the characters, but it felt as if this was a filler rather than another big episode that moved the story along. Yes, it was nice to see Beckett and Alexis build a relationship outside of Castle's purview, but it was more let down than a lift up, an issue that is more pedestrian compared to the big expectation laid out.

It did strike me funny when I saw Det. Ryan in a short sleeve…nice biceps, buddy.

This is just my opinion after just one viewing and I'd love to discuss this further. It is likely that I psyched myself up too much for this episode and I ruined it by watching too much of the sneak peaks.

Please, don't hate me. I just thought to stir the pot with my mind bugs.

^ Yeah, generally if I'm ever disappointed in this show, it's because I went after the spoilers too much.  We ruin it for ourselves sometimes, don't we?

I sure didn't expect Scarlet to be pulling some of the strings either!! Shock  Castle, you totally got played man.  'Mata Hari.  Shady lady.'

I thoroughly enjoyed this episode!  Not disappointed in the secret- Alexis is right to think that her daddy would be crushed were she to be out of the country on his birthday.  He's such a- what is the opposite of daddy's girl… girlie's dad?  Whatever, you know what I mean. (Sure would like to see him open his present, too!)

I also would've liked to be witness to the Alexis and Beckett conversation.  Guess that's my only gripe, then.

Loved Jessup and the handcuffs, and the locksmith school, and the barfight.  All of it, really.  He's a wordsmith!!  Love it.

OMG, Ryan is 'Honey-Milk' around the Dept?  SO FUNNY!!  Castle would be so proud to know his nickname has stuck. ROFL

Definitely watching this one AGAIN! Love

I summed up my general thoughts over at LJ, so *cuts & pastes*

Another "quiet" episode without so much comedy, which I must confess I'm kind of missing. I did love the character development, again, very subtle. I like how this is moving along, how they (Castle & Beckett) are far more a part of each other's lives than they will even admit to themselves. And Castle's scene at the end with Alexis was so adorable I very nearly lost an ovary from sheer squee.

ADDITIONALLY: I have to agree with everyone who said they didn't see Scarlett coming, as the killer. I do admit, though, that it finally hit me when she showed up at Rick's apartment. Too many coincidences and frankly, he should have been more suspicious of her. He's too quick to trust a pretty face (perhaps this is the hint of season 1 Rick still left over).

…but, yeah. PLEASE bring the laughs back! I miss 'em! The "locksmith" perp was hilarious. He was a highlight of this ep, for me. xoxox

I'm still stuck on Honey-milk XD followed by the awesome exchange of expressions between Ryan and Esposito.

Though I also agree with everyone I really wish that we could have seen Beckett and Alexis talking together. Although I see why they didn't show that, because that would have spoiled the hype they were keeping on her 'secret.' But with Alexis' character I must say I wasn't suprised, I figured it wouldn't be something that big. And quite a few people weren't surprised by it as well. Maybe something dramatic should happen with Alexis to throw the fans off. :D

But this did feel like a 'filler' episode. Nothing really happened exciting. Though the writing of the case was really well done. I did not expect how it ended. It had a bunch of twists and turns. That was well done.

Overall I didn't think it was that bad. A rating of 8 out of 10 for me.

Oh and the locksmith perp was indeed AWESOME.

I'm usually dumb as a post when figuring out who the killer is but this episode I pegged her the first scene she was in. ROFL Don't know why, but she gave me "killer" vibes.

one of my fave scenes was when castle was asking beckett about what alexis told her, and beckett said 'and put you out of your misery'. hahaha loved that part. Bounce

i also loved beckett's reaction when castle told her she met scarlet, and then beckett dropping it off as a date. haha :D

and the last part with beckett saying 'that  starts tomorrow'. haha love it :D

Some of my fave moments in this ep

  • Beckett making Castle sit in the back seat of the car after he backed Jessup up when he said Beckett was mean.
  • It was a funny turnabout seeing Castle tell someone else to wait in the car while she and Castle went and did stuff.
  • "Isn't that the girl from Buckley's office…. did she look like that before?"
  • Castle "Can I come?" Beckett "No." Castle "But I want to!"
  • "Honey Milk" particuarly Esposito's little smirk great call back
  • Esposito & Ryan teasing Castle about Alexis
  • I fluctuate between liking and not liking the whole YoSafBridge feel of the scene in Castle's apartment with the call girl
  • Alexis running and hugging Castle when she's ready to tell him about her decision
  • Castle restraining himself in the closing scene

Really enjoyed the ep

Admin I agree…I thought that was a very funny part.  I actually thought there were many funny parts in this episode.  I found myself laughing outloud.  Beckett's face was hiliarious when Castle asked the asian man if he liked "fat girls" and the relief on their faces when he finally said he liked "call girls".  I thought Beckett's one liners were funnier than usual in this episode.  Plus she seemed concerned (becuase I won't use the word jealous yet) about what Castle is up too.  At the beginning when she asked if they interrupted him with something or somebody or when she shoots back at Castle with the line of "at least I didn't go on a date with him" as if Castle and the call girl had a date.  I liked those moments.  I really enjoyed this episode.  Already watched three times…lolBounce

good episode, the Jessop character was refreshingly brash and in-your-face.  Some fun C-B moments this week, and the crime was perhaps more fully developed than usual (IMO).  I was expecting something a bit more interesting out of Alexis, like maybe a juicy predicament, but oh welll, maybe next time, now that Alexis and Kate are such pals.  Next week's story sounds promising for some C-B interaction.  Love triangle indeed, those two need something to get them together.

It was hilarious…Loved how Castle and Beckett kept drifting very close to each other, or when she got right in his face saying "we'll talk about this later" haha she was so jeleous! Castle sweatin bullets through the whole episode to find out what his daughter's secret was was hilarious specially when he finds out it's really nothing! THo I did hope for more…and more effect on Castle and Beckett's relationship…

While it was probably considered a filler episode I still found a lot of moments funny.

I felt bad for Castle getting played like that. I didn't peg her as the killer right away but I got some weird vibes from her from the start. They kept me guessing until the shooting though.

Castle getting bumped to the backseat was hilarious. So unexpected.

Honey milk was funny. I love when they bring stuff back like that at random times.

My only disappointment was that we didn't get to see a scene between Beckett and Alexis. I'm glad I was spoiled of that before I watched the episode. Of course I understand why they didn't show us the scene since they wanted us guessing along with Castle about what the secret was.

I'll have to watch again later.

Honey-Milk was high-larious! I was laughing so hard! I had to pause the episode because my husband didn't get it. I has to explain where it came from.

I loved when Castle got kicked to the backseat. Very funny moment.

I noticed that Beckett seems to be invading Castle's personal space more then she used to. She also seemed to get very jealous of Castle and the Call Girl (and not just in the "You shouldn't be working the case without me" jealously).

When they were going to "save" the Call Girl and Beckett said "Wait here" and Castle stood up to her and said he was coming too and the look in his eyes… And then Beckett gave in… I turned to my husband and said "That's new." It was a great moment of showing how much more Beckett trusts him and how much Castle cares about people.

Another great episode!

I have a slightly different take on the Alexis story: Alexis has been thinking about studying abroad – Oxford no less. That is a big move, for a loooong time, and I would say pretty explosive considering how close Castle and Alexis are. Remember, it's been just the two of them for long periods of time, and he's already dreading the day she leaves for college. Now she has to figure out a way to tell him. Talking to Beckett about studying abroad was clarifying for her. But I also think it was part of a strategy. First make daddy worry. Next "you're so great, dad", softening him up. Then spring the "three weeks in France, missing your birthday" – which is no big deal, and making him agree that studying abroad is a good idea. Then saying, "I won't go, but stay with you, for your birthday" getting him relaxed and get him all "thank you, you're so kind, I owe you one". And then springing the Oxford idea… how can he protest now? Don't think Alexis is that sneaky? Remember she started the episode lying to Castle!

I wish I knew how to quit you.

Good take.

I wouldn't put it past Alexis, but I wouldn't put it past Kate to suggest easing Castle into the idea of her leaving for Oxford either. It's tough when you're surrounded by smart women. Love

My favorite scenes were Beckett putting Castle in the backseat of the car for backing up the "wordsmith". I'm still laughing because I'm certain Beckett wouldn't do that with anyone else except Castle. No one else is that capable of getting under her skin. The other was the scene where Beckett gets upset about Castle and Scarlett while at the precinct. The second that she classified Castle's run in with Scarlett as a "date", that's when you could tell she was jealous on top of being rightfully upset.

Nicely stated by the way unniw.

"My partner is crazy and may start firing at any moment." – Castle speaking in Chinese about Beckett

Beckett: (about Natalie Rhodes) She took my coffee, Castle!

Beckett: Alakazam, jackass.

Esposito: "Listen to me. You're too late. The cops already know all about…me and your mom."

Beckett: "I put a lot of people in this place. Some of them want to kill me, others never been treated so fairly in their lives – so they form an attachment to me. It’s like I’m their favorite schoolteacher. Some of those people might visit you while you’re in here, like the ghosts that visit Scrooge. And after some time with them, you might find yourself a changed man. So I will be back here, week after week, to ask you who hired you, until that miracle occurs."

I liked this episode my fave parts when Jessup taught Castle how to unlock himself the end scene w/Alexis and Castle. I was kinda dissapointed that Beckett and Alexis didnt get an on screen moment *too much wishful thinking I guess* I figured it was the call girl who killed the lawyer when the episode was almost over. All in all it was a good episode.

I liked this episode better on the 2nd viewing.  I guess I was too caught up in the moment during the first run to notice extra things.  I liked that the physical space of both Castle and Beckett keep getting intermixed…ie. they get in each other's space a lot.  The Locksmith was totally hysterical and I hope we see him back in another episode.  I was disappointed on first viewing with the Alexis secret.  But, by the 2nd viewing, I saw how it worked into the mix of things and why it would have been considered an "explosive" secret, considering Castle's relationship with his daughter–and her possibly going overseas.

The dialogue between Castle and Beckett when he first shows her the compromising photo's of the Reverend which he got from the call girl "at his apartment" made for an extremely interesting relationship conversation.  They kind of "talked around" the REAL issue (Beckett and jealousy and why a Call Girl would be going to Castle's apartment in the first place) with Beckett "verbally clipping him" for not having called her immediately and him making excuses for not having done so.  That was followed up later with Beckett's comment about her not "dating" the suspect, referencing the Call Girl and Castle.  And then a third follow on where Castle thanks her for not saying "I told you so" to her response (paraphrased) that that begins tomorrow.   Those jokes linked through several scenes, which was well done by the writers and it added dimension to the Castle-Beckett relationship.

I love after he said that he was coming how she was all protective of him with the "stay behind me" clearly she was worried about his safty! She could have easily said stay behind everyone. If you notice he was right behind her not the uniforms that where also behind her. Very protective lol!
