This episode was amazing! I especially loved all the Firefly references (Shindig is my favorite episode!)!
Some excellent banter at the firing range. But my favorite part was Castle goofing around in the car at the end, telling the murderer he wasn't allowed to get out of the car, and apologizing to kate for getting out of the car! HA HA!
Also, I really liked Powell, the jewel thief. I hope we see more of him.

Fantastic episode! Kate had some really great lines this week. Castle too! The hour really flew by. I like how Castle totally played Beckett at the firing range and this weeks case was an interesting parallel to Beckett's past. I liked the Powell character also.
One thing I was unclear about was the stunning dress Beckett wore to the fundraiser. Castle's mom seemed a little match makery to me this episode and she knew where they were going because she was scheduled to auction stuff off, including a date with Castle. It was also handy that her jewelry went with Kate's dress perfectly. I wonder if Mom or Alexis sent the dress and not Castle? It just seems like something a woman would think of.
All in all a truly great episode!

The name of the victim, Susan Delgado, sounded so familiar that it was driving me nuts trying to place it. Then I Googled it, and it's the name of Roland the Gunslinger's dead girlfriend from Stephen King's Dark Tower series. I wonder if that was a deliberate homage to King or just a coincidence.

ha, what was the song Castle was singing in the car after they caught the bad guy and Beckett and Castle where driving back. I think he also sang it while he was in the drivers seat "acting like a cop". It sounds sooo familiar.
Also, why is it soo hard to find pictures of the show?

Enjoyed the episode very much, but I don't like seeing what always seems like dead *women* in nasty positions in the beginning of the show. I DON"T watch CSI and other autopsy porn shows for this reason. My husband and I both look away and consider shutting it off, but can resist Nathan.

Powell? Patick Bauchau. I remember him from Pretender series.
He also was dr. Chase father in House M.D.

I AGREE… liked the feather CG when it went into the blood puddle. That should have been enough gore. Did not need to see the women all stuffed in the safe. I realize you gotta please different types of people. When I saw the feather floating down into the blood I thought to myself."HOW MUCH DID THAT LITTLE SCENE COST THEM" I AM so jaded about the special effects. It was well done but was it necessary? Love all the music they are choosing for the Episodes…. DO NOT CHANGE A THING…. LOVE EVERYTHING… JUST LIKE TO SHARE MY JADED THOUGHTS.

I wouldn't consider anything I've seen on Castle to be gory. But then, I'm a fan of Bones.

I would consider it purposeful—not a coinkydink. I think Castle really is paying homage to all of the best selling crime novelists a bit. I think Laney, the female coroner or M.E. is a hat tip to Patterson's Murder Club Series coroner, especially since she is best friends with Beckett and in Patterson they were best friends as well. For crime novelist fans, there are many ways this shows tickles the brain.

I only know it as the "action scene" sound for this sound–not sure it is music from anywhere else. So Castle is singing the song as he plays in the car, PAA-nann-naaa=nana (can't do it justice), then when the Bad guy orders him out of the car and they fight…that is the music! It is cute.
Love this show. glad it is coming back.

The card with the box had "Bibbity Bobbity Boo" from Cinderella–that is Castle for sure. I think he sent the dress. Plus the dress looks like a dress Nikki Heat would wear, too. I don't think the Mom knew where they were going because Castle wouldn't tell her, but then Beckett wound up telling her. I love the ending, when Beckett comes in and says "Pretty Butch, Castle" about his black eye and the way he looks at her when she first walks in, lovingly and so happy to see her. Great episode.

I am also a fan of Bones but some how when I watch Castle I am in the mood for a more light programing when it comes to the Gore factor. In Bones I am prepared for the gore. Not used to it in Castle. I wonder which way they will go next season?

You know the woman in the safe was a real live actor don't you? Freaky what some people can do with their bodies.

I was suspicious of that! She just looked too real to me. But I was also doubtful, since artists have gotten so realistic with their bodies. But then again, I'm a fan of Bones too and have seen the making-of with their corpses, which looks SO real. Amazing.

So I was just watching this episode again this morning and have started to realize that the Castle production team have a really hard time with continuity. The episodes always seem to fly by which allows them to get away with mentioning facts that on a second pass don't make any sense, or actions that the characters take.
In this episode when Castle gets into the fight after being pulled out of the car the guy punches him in the face "hitting" his right eye (left if you are looking at him). And after getting punched Castle flinches and covers his right eye with his arm. Yet after that when Beckett goes to see if he's okay, he's squinting his left eye as it's the one that faces the camera. And finaly, when Beckett shows up at his place, he has a black left eye. :(
You know, I'd watch for errors like this for free. :P

Haha wow, good eye! I would never have caught that, but you're right, you'd think they'd have someone there who takes care of those sorts of details. Maybe they don't pay as much attention to continuity for tv as they do for film because most people only watch a TV episode once or twice, whereas people tend to see a movie, and if they like it they buy it on DVD etc and rewatch.
Now I'm going to be on the lookout for more details like that, though I'll probably forget as soon as the episode starts haha.

Actually I don't think that he was hit in his right eye. I think that Nathan was just rolling over so he could be in position for when Stana comes by to talk with him. Since he didn't really get punched, I think it was just a slip of where the bad threw his fist. It looks as if it hit Nathan's right eye because he was a split second off on his timing to turn his head.
