I really like Castle but tonight's show just annoyed me from almost the beginning. A city council member is murdered. They dig his wallet out of the dumpster, taking care to give us a clear view of his driver's license. He lives in Garden City, NY. That is in Nassau County, on Long Island. You can't be a member of the NEW YORK CITY council if you live in Long Island. Long Island is not part of NYC. Sloppy and stupid. Clearly this show is not written by NYers. Which is okay, but it means they need to work harder to get it right. And so far they need to work harder.

I think Castle is a really great show. As far as it being realistic or factually correct ….. it isn't that kind of show. It's completely fictional FUN. Not based on facts or any of the dull, somber stuff thats so over taken the airwaves of late. You are not supposed to think 'would that really happen?' while your watching this show. You are allowed to go 'oh, thats so crazy', 'funny', etc., without having to add it up in relation to reality. I Love that about it and don't want them to over research fact based subjects. There is enough of that on TV already! The emphasis of this show is the characters and their interaction. The 'plot' of the murder mystery is more a subplot to give the characters something to do while your watching THEM. So in short, it doesn't really matter where the guy lived who got killed.

Except, even though I enjoy the show and the interacting between the characters, it does matter to ME where the guy lived. It annoyed me. It made me stop focusing on the action between the characters. Someone had to make up the prop of the driver's license, so someone had to choose where he lived. And they chose to show up the driver's license long enough so we could clearly see the address. So they made it an issue where they didn't have to and having done so, they got it wrong. And it wouldn't have required research to get it right. Generally elective officials have to live in the area they represent. I'm just sick of shows that set themselves in New York City but don't really care about being in NYC. At least this time they aren't having a car chase down a busy midtown street while whizzing by cars with Toronto license plates.
So I'll try harder to suspend my disbelief, and hopefully they will do better at not being so lazy and sloppy.

Actually, what I really had to suspend my disbelief for was the opening scene. Here are two guys, who pick up a throw rug that is about what – 10x10? – and carry it from the dumpster out of the alley, into their building, and up to their apartment. Even giving them the fact that they didn't notice that there was a large, body shaped bulge in the carpet, how did they not notice that the thing weight about 200 lbs more than it should have?
That bothered me much more than the drivers license :)

While I love the characters and the interactions and chemistry between them all…..the writers need to be replaced. A man is killed who is cheating on his wife and the title of the episode is “Hell Hath no fury”? Seriously?!? Wow – it was so hard to connect the dots and I was left open mouthed in shock at the end.
Why are there so many atrociously bad TV writers? You would think the competition would ensure only the best make it. Are they related to the TV execs?
I’ll still be watching every week.

I think you are so right about the writers. Here you have a show with a really good regular cast and some seriously qualified guest cast members(loved the wife who got cheated on by her husband..iwasn't she on My So Called Life?) and you've got these okay writers that give everything away. Let's hope they improve to the level of their on-camera talent….
