As someone who was unsilenced, it was really hard to not type, I ended up sitting on my hands most of the time! I think I only responded while the guests were kicked out of the chat and when I thought the questions were done, but I apologize to anyone who thought I talked too much. I did notice that maybe half of the chatters were trying to shut the other chatters up so we could hear from our guests, but after a while, there was no stopping them. A problem that I had was that it was hard to figure out when the question was answered and when I was allowed to respond, so the majority of time, I didn't say anything. Obviously since we didn't know we were going to be unsilenced, there weren't things explicitly spelled out, so the interpretation of the chat rules got a little muddied.

All in all though, Admin and Mods, I wanted to say that it was really fun and to thank you again.

First, a big thank you to admin, the moderators, and especially Terri, Jon, Seamus, Tamala, and Stana for the chat last night. How very generous of Terri and the cast to postpone some rest and relaxation to chat with all of us. It amazes me that they are so generous with their time!

I think the major issue was simply the technical difficulties. If it had not taken so long for things to get going smoothly, I think that everyone would have been more patient with questions getting answered. But nothing could have been done about that. Kudos to the admin and moderators for changing things on the fly at the request of the cast to allow them to interact more spontaneously with the fans. I'm sure it made it more fun for them. Once they requested things be opened up, there wasn't going to be too much control over the situation with the rules out the window.

I had no issue being silenced, and was just happy to be part of it. I only wish that things would have gone smoothly from the get-go so more questions could have been answered by the cast. And as great as it was having so many cast members there, that made for even more limited time with each of them.

For me, one of the best parts of the night was having Terri drop by chat a little later in the evening to let us know how much the cast enjoyed the chat. I hadn't been in chat with her before, and she is really awesome.

Personally, I liked that the cast wanted more interaction with the fans and would like to do a similar chat in the future. I'm thankful for everyone that was involved in making this happen. It was a lot of fun and a unique expeierence for me. Smile

As far as the whole silienced/unsilenced issue I think it was a good move to keep most of silenced. Man could you imagine if all of us would have been able to comment!!? Crazy2 <-that smiley says it all! Although next time I'd like to request that if during the next chat people will be unsilenced that if you aren't the Admin or mod for the chat don't bother asking/telling others to be quiet -just adds more unneeded chatter.

And one other request, I know that it was the "regulars" that were unsilenced but I think it would have been nice if you threw a bone to someone who is a "somewhat regular". Now I don't mean someone that registered on the day of the chat but rather someone who is active in the community but perhaps maybe not as hardcore about posting as others. I'm assuming that the defenition of "regular" was determined mostly by activity on the website as well as twiter and facebook. Some of us love Castle dearly but can't always find the time to follow the forums or jump into the chatroom.

Ok, now this is getting long, sorry! Once again, thanks for the awesome night!ROFL

I would really like to thank Admin for setting this up.

I was very excited that I was unsilenced but I do agree that it was actually difficult speaking, the best part for me was being able to say hi for Lady Brenlis's son, Stana was totally awesome there.LoveLoveLove

Honestly I feel like the people who are complaining about being silent are being a litle rude, I understand that they are upset but after all Admin and the Mods did to set this up, the cast was there by choice and all, we should be gratefull that we even got to have them answer our questions. Not throwing fits because we didn't get to be the 200th person to say hello.

I do have a suggestion that might make things a little fairer,

Perhaps we could have shifts, selecting maybe 10-20 people randomly who get to chat with them for a few minutes, then silencing that group and selecting another 10-20, it might be a little complicated but it will allow other people to speak and not seem like Admin is choosing favorites.

Thank you so much for setting this up Admins I still love you Love2

Great job Admin!  Thanks for taking on the challenge, it turned out great.  You can't really expect something like this to go entirely smoothly and the adjustments on the fly were great.  I think we all have to remember how lucky we are to even get this opportunity, not many cast and crew do these type of things for their fans and generally not at all for a non-network sponsored function.  Thanks Admin, Mods, Terri, Jon, Seamus, Tamala and Stana.

Admin and Mods,

You guys did a great job and don't be to hard on yourself. It was the first of its kind with more than one person and all the fans in the room.

We can talk later on how to improve the process, but all in all everyone is happy about the outcome and that is the most important! Bounce2

Thanks Admin for the chat last night.

I think it was great that that I was silence mode, because I just watched everyone else type to their little heart's content. hehe.

Thanks again for using one of my question. I was squealing the whole time. Bounce

Thanks Tamala for answering my question. It made my night. Bounce2

thanks everyone for putting on a nice chat. Now on to season 3! :)

Castle: Just waiting for my partner. Maybe you've seen her, pretty girl, thinks she can leap tall buildings in a single bound,

carries the weight of the world on her shoulders, yet still manages to laugh at some of my jokes.

Beckett: She sounds like a handful.

Castle: Tell me about it. Anyway…if you do see her, tell her she owns me….about 100 coffees.

I'm not sure how anyone can really complain. I thought the adjustments made on the fly were done as well as anyone could hope for. It was unexpected to have some unsilenced and hopefully any hiccups can be corrected next time.

I'm just thankful to have been a part of it. What a treat for us fans to have some of the cast show up like that and share some time with us.

We should be celebrating that they had a good time and are willing to do it again. That speaks volumes on many levels.

A huge THANK YOU Admin for the chat. You and the mods have done a wonderful job.
I got up at 3.30am just to be part of it and it was awesome! I really don't understand the complaints about being unsilenced or not – it would have been a chaos if all 200 (?) had been able to talk.

Again: Thanks Admin, Mods, Terri, Jon, Seamus, Tamala and Stana.

Thanks for your post, Admin, and your own notes on how the chat went; it really makes things easier for us to understand. Now we're on the same playing field, and there's nothing worse than miscommunication.

Huge thanks to Admin for setting this chat up! It was my highlight of the day. I had so many other things that were stressing me out (including guilt over how I handled something with my mom), so I loved that I could come to the chat and just enjoy myself for the hour and a half with so many Castle fans and the guests.

Thanks again to Terri, Tamala, Seamus, Jon, and Stana for actually doing the chat. Taking time out of their day to be with their fans is simply amazing, and I'm glad they weren't scared by the craziness of the unsilenced people (no offense, you were just chatty, that's all!).

Speaking of the silencing, if it was the guests that asked for the interaction, then I guess I really can't complain. After all, Admin and the mods were just complying to their request. You were just doing your best at controlling as you possibly could, and I truly applaud each and every one of you for making this go as smoothly as it possibly could. We also learned a lot from this chat, so now you know what to expect if this happens in the future. "The only real mistake is the one from which you don't learn." I think we all learned a lot, and crazy as this may sound, I think this needed to happen this way, in a sense, crazy as it was.

Through all the craziness, though, the fact that our guests wouldn't mind doing the chat again is awesome. They were the ones who were sacrificing their time, so as Jamz said, "That speaks volumes on so many levels."

I cannot wait to possibly read the transcript, since I missed out on the first several minutes. Stupid wireless Internet… The one time you give me crappy connection in my room at night, it just had to be that night. Seriously, you should've seen how crazy I was when I wasn't connecting because of the Internet Laugh Least I was able to get a connection in a lounge, which made me feel much better, but I digress.

As an actor, I feel like you’re asked to live life as vibrantly as possible.

Terri did a fantastic job of typing for everyone, I don't know if any of you have ever tried typing responses for another person but it's hard work and tends to be a bit slower than when you're typing for yourself. Terri did great!

She did :) And  yes, I've been typing responses for another people during moderated chats with invited guests in our company (www.wp.pl – one of the biggest Internet portals in Poland) for over 5 years. Politicians, sportsmen, musicians, writers, actors, directors… etc… etc… etc… I'm typing really fast and without looking at the keyboard, but there were times with several people that they were talking definitely too fast for me. So I can confirm that in certain situations it's very, very, very stressful job.

I cannot remotely begin to say how awesome it is to be a member of such a terrific site, non-sponsored by the network, and on which the cast members feel "welcome" and "safe" enough to come visit with their fans.  That speaks VOLUMES about our ADMIN.  If they had an "EMMY" for fan websites, YOU WOULD DEFINITELY RECEIVE IT!!!!!

Unfortunately for me, Monday nights are normally an "unavailable" time for me to participate, so I was not able to be here in time for the chat…I just caught the tail end of Terri returning and saying goodbye.

Therefore, take my "suggestions" with a grain of salt.  If Terri (and the cast) wish to have a more "open" relationship with the chatters, then I think two things are required:  (1) (being a non-techie myself, ADMIN you probably know whether this is doable or not):  if it is not too difficult to "silence and unsilence" folks, then I'd suggest selecting a certain MANAGEABLE number of chatters to be unsilenced (and I'm good with it being PRIMARILY, though not necessarily exclusively, the regulars) and give them a "period of time"–say 20 minutes.  Then silence them and unsilence a different group..so that more folks get to participate, but still limit the numbers at any one time.

(2) Those who are in unsilence mode need to have a set of "rules/requirements" such that they do not overwhelm the guests with idle chatter.  Perhaps limiting them to a comment after the guest has concluded responding to a formal question, or perhaps asking a SINGLE "follow up" question.  However, once ONE of the unsilenced has responded (especially if it is with a follow up question), the others should respectfully be quiet to keep the guests from being overwhelmed…not to mention how difficult it is to read the responses when they start scrolling off the screen rapidly because so MANY OF THEM HIT AT THE SAME TIME.

At any rate, those are my two suggestions…and as I said, take them with a grain of salt, I wasn't even there last night and I am fatally ignorant about the tech requirements.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, GREAT JOB ADMIN AND MODERATORS! I thought it was quite a coup to get ONE cast member, but to have 4 is beyond awesome! And I also give you all credit for keeping your cool during the technical problems. I'd have freaked out completely! It's awesome that Terri and the cast members were so understanding though and wanted to hear from us, and that they all stayed late after what I'm sure was a long work day.

I was a little frustrated that I was silenced, but I got over it quickly (I think my head cold had me on edge) when I thought how hard it was to change on the fly, and was just grateful to have been able to participate and that the chat actually came off as well as it did. Maybe next time Admin or the moderators could put names in a hat and draw those who will not be silenced. Just a suggestion.

But congrats Admin and the moderators and a big thank you to Terri, Seamus, Jon, Tamala, and Stana for participating. YOU GUYS AND GALS ARE AWESOME!

THE CHAT WAS AWESOME! STANA WAS THERE! *IS STILL IN SHOCK*

I don't really care that it took a while to be unsilenced, because it was fun anyways! The only thing that made me go a little nuts was when Stana came in… haha … other than that i tried not to type much, cuz I really prefered having the guests answering questions because with all those excited people, it got a little crazy… But it was still AWESOME!!

THANK YOU SOO MUCH ADMIN! AND THANK YOU TO THE MODS!! THE CHAT ROCKED!

Indeed it was pretty chaotic (to say the least), but I think considering the amount of stuff that was beyond Adminy control (like the unexpected request for un-silencing chatters… yikes), it went pretty well!

Yep, sure, things probably could've gone smoother… but that just means we need to have another one of these… gotta perfect the technique ;)

This fandom with these actors and crew members has now BLOWN past any other fandom I follow. The level of interaction between the cast, writers and crew for Castle is LIGHT YEARS ahead of most every other fandom out there that I know of. Their accessability on Facebook and Twitter and then their willingness to come to our "sandbox", if you will, and interact with us, well I'm 43 years old and I've never seen or heard of anything like it.

Thanks again to Admin and all of her mystery Mods, I know it was like trying to herd cats at times.

And a very special thank you to Seamus Dever, Jon Huertas, Tamala Jones and Stana Katic for allowing the crazies into the peanut gallery, even for only a little while.

And Terri Miller, lady, you're a saint. "Thanks" isn't big enough for your helping out typing all the responses.

Hopefully, we can do this again at a later date. Maybe get Nathan, Susan, Molly and ruben in on the action.

Thanks again, Paladin (Rob Powell)

I've got to agree with you there.  It really makes me enjoy and appreciate the show even more.  And I think it says a lot about everyone involved on all sides.  Especially  the fact that everyone is not only polite and respectful, but genuinely friendly.

Thanks again Admin, for arranging this.
