Sailor Neptune, eh? Maybe he should talk Stana into going as Sailor Mars…   I haven't thought of (or seen) this anime in a long while. Either way, to those who are attending Comic-Con, pictures and details please? Thanks so much!

Since I didn't see it upstream, thought I'd point out that the Comic-Con schedule is up on their website, and the Sunday listing has:

10:30-11:30 ABC's Castle: Nathan Fillion & Stana Katic— Up close and personal with actors Nathan Fillion (Firefly) and Stana Katic (Quantum of Solace), creator Andrew Marlowe (Air Force One), and executive producers Rob Bowman (X-Files) and Laurie Zaks. BE sure to be on hand for the Q&A session, filled with exclusive videos and fun surprises. Whether you're a fan of the show or a fan of Nathan Fillion, you won't want to miss this panel! The panel will feature stars Nathan Fillion (Richard Castle), Stana Katic (Detective Kate Beckett), Tamala Jones (Medical Examiner Lanie Parish), Jon Huertas (NYPD Detective Javier Esposito), Seamus Dever (NYPD Detective Kevin Ryan), Molly Quinn (Alexis Castle) and Susan Sullivan (Martha Rodgers); plus executive producers Andrew MarloweRob Bowman and Laurie ZaksRoom 6BCF

Chances are good that other members of the writing/producing staff will be seated in the audience. If I make it (hard to tell–by Sunday I'm usually completely fried, and I'm driving in from a half hour away)–I'm really hoping to see if Moira Kirland shows up. She writes all my favorite episodes of Castle.

For anyone who's coming that's a newbie, 6BCF is not one of the big-big rooms (it's part of a big-big room; they generally only group 6CDEF together for something like Futurama :-),  so I'd assume at least an hour's wait ahead of time, but since we're talking about being close to opening of the day, maybe make it two hours to get a seat in the room–none of the old "just get into the panel ahead of the one you want" maneuvering [which, hand-on-heart was the ONLY way to get a seat when Pushing Daisies was in that same room. (sigh)].  Just me, but I think they should've stuck Smallville in 6, and Castle in Ballroom 20, since all we ever see at Comic-Con these days are media fans, not comics fans, but hey.  You take what you can get.

And yeah, Hollywood gave up even pretending they were bringing SF-related stuff years ago.  It's just a marketing fest for them, now.  Still, it's not as if Comic-Con hasn't always been the all-nations pow-wow of fandom–that's how it got so damn big. ;)

For those of you coming, I would also make a plea if you feel yourself burning out, that you give yourself a break from all the big-media programming and hit the older con that's underneath–y'know, the comic-book one. Any panel where the name "Mark Evanier" appears as a moderator is going to be worth your while, even if it's a spotlight for some geezer of the golden age you think you don't know. I highly highly recommend the Quick Draw and Cartoon Voice Actors I & II panels if you can make them. Just a thought.  Either that, or go out back and contemplate the Coronado Bridge and the Pacific Ocean for a minute or so.  Sensory overload is a real danger at this show.

I would flip out if they gave out something like the Castle Season 2 DVD this far in advance. Really far off but it is Comic-Con after all.

I'm guessing a poster or the paperback of Heat Wave.  But we'll see.

Uh… I think you guys may be overly optimistic about the freebies at  Con. You get things like buttons, postcards, flyers, or a comic book. Maybe one of those excerpt booklets for the paperback of Heat Wave.  But chances are also good whatever freebie they give may just be ABC-related, and not even Castle-related. This is Comic-Con, not Cannes. ;) Hall H (movie presentations) is where they hand on the tix for one-sheets and t-shirts, and those have become a lot rarer these days.  If there are t-shirts, they'll probably throw out 10 to the audience, or just to the folks brave enough to step up to the mike to ask a question.

Whatever you get is most likely going to be in the $1 and under price range. Adjust expectations accordingly.

There will be (I'm confident though not 100% sure) Castle related giveaways, there's an auto session after the panel, but only for 100 people, not sure how they're deciding who those people are, likely some kind of random drawing, and also… for those that can't go, watch Twitter for a Twitter Mystery!! Details here http://castletv.net/full-comic…..on-details

OK!  So my husband and I have Comic Con passes for Sunday!  We are flying out from Atlanta either Friday night or Saturday morning.  I know there is no guarantee that we will be able to attend the Castle panel (which is the whole reason we are going) but we are willing to risk it.  I need tips and advice on what to do to better our chances of getting in, such as what time to get there etc.  We have never been to a Comic Con before so we have no idea what to expect.  Any help is greatly appreciated!

Wow, you know how I said the gift would likely be Castle related – I was just given a pic to post -http://castletv.net/full-comic-con-details

As for comic con – tips are, arrive as early as you can, as long as you're prepared to sit on the ground in line and wait, the earlier the better. If you're just going Sunday you will need to be in line to pick up your pass first, after you get your pass then you have to find your way to room 6BCF (find it on the map posted above so you can get your bearings) and then you will be waiting in line again. If you get lost, there will be volunteers around you can ask questions of. I think the doors to the convention center open at 8:30 (check the comic con website to confirm) so you'll want to be there well be fore then to get in line for your pass.

Carry water, you'll get dehydrated and you might want to take some snacks too, getting food will involve a lengthy wait and the food isn't very good and on the expensive site, so snacks like trail mix are helpful.

Be sure to bring a camera because usually you're allowed to take photos and film video (just not of anything they show on screen).

Wear comfortable clothes/footwear.

Yep, actual slices of apple pie in little plastic boxes with the Pushing Daisies logo on it.  When we saw a "Pushing Daisies" screening at the Hollywood Forever cemetary, they gave out little personal apple pies in gift boxes, very cute, and they also passed out single daisies with PD logo tags.  ABC does know how to do the promos for sure.

I'm already prepping both of my cameras and I'll be wearing my very comfy walking shoes :)
