Have you booked a flight already? If not, I recommend checking packages on Expedia and similar sites. There seem to be some pretty good ones fwiw.

No, I haven't booked a flight, but without a recommendation I have no idea if the hotel I'm booking is anywhere near where we're going to meet up.

Sandy,

I just got back from my L.A. trip yesterday.  I had no clue where to stay either, it had been forever since I've been to L.A., but went for a long weekend with a friend for my birthday.  I ended up booking the Ramada Hollywood on N. Vermont Ave. /Santa Monica (close to everything).  Actually it was about 5 minutes away from the Raleigh Studios on Melrose.  The area where the hotel was seemed okay to me and it had a fenced in parking lot for your car.  The room was nice (updated) and for the price and location I couldn't beat it.  I'm obvioulsy not from L.A. and maybe some people who are might know this area better, but it seemed fine to me and I would stay there again and might if I can make the L.A. trip in July…going to try.  They do charge a daily rate for parking (I think it was like $16.75/per day).  Only downfall was my room was on the first floor and I could hear the traffic off of N. Vermont Ave. from my room.

 

So much…Castle…….so very, very much!!

Thanks CastleFan66, I'll keep that in mind. I'm actually in the process of figuring something out with a friend so I think it will work out.

And also sorry if I sounded whiny this morning IMW. I was not having a good morning. It's gotten better now though. :)

Here are some recommendations on hotels by area:

Westside:
Custom Hotel (very close to LAX, boutique but very affordable)
Hotel Angeleno (in Brentwood, but also right off the freeway)
Hotel Ambrose (in Santa Monica)
Hotel Erwin (right off the beach in Venice but can be a bit busy due to proximity to the boardwalk, parking is not free)

Beverly Hills:
Maison 140 (a really good deal for this area- right now at $124 a night)

Downtown:
Standard Hotel (parking is definitely not free in the Downtown area but right now, they have rooms for $95- a steal for a hotel like the Standard)

For those wanting to stay in the Hollywood area, The Roosevelt has rooms for $150 a night. Pretty good price considering it's right off the Walk of Fame and the hotel itself is rich in history.

I definitely recommend The Roosevelt. Very nice, classic hotel. Plus, if there are any movie premiere while you're in town they usually do some press in the hotel, giving you a chance to see some awesome celebs!

OK gang, you can change me to YES! I booked my room at the Custom Hotel (thanks for the recommendation mon, I got an AWESOME rate from their web site). I'll be arriving Wednesday the 14th and leaving Sunday the 18th. Now just have to wait for flights to come down in price and ya'll will be stuck with me!!!! Bounce2
