OK I'm starting to stress over booking my flight. The cheapest I can find right now is $420, which I am completely willing to pay, and I can get a rental car for less than $200. But I'm afraid if I book the flight today the price will go down and I'll be stuck with it. But then again, if I don't book today, it may go up.

UGH ok this was just a pointless vent but I can't decide whether I should just go ahead and book. Blah

Is that with Virgin America? I doubt it will go lower than $400 at that time of year- peak season. But flying VA is definitely worth it though and by far the best option.

The good thing is that VA always has sales or offer 20% off fares.

Yeah Sandy, I feel your pain, I'm trying to book travel back to NYC and it's always hard to know when to jump on a fare or wait it out. In my experience, the fares rarely go down, and I've actually waited a few days and had them go up even over 2 – 3 days, so if you find a decent rate, I'd grab it.

Also, keep in mind that you might want to try other smaller airports like Burbank or Long Beach. Burbank isn't that far and Long Beach is maybe 35-45 mins from LA, depending on time of day. When I fly to the DC area, I take the JetBlue non-stop route between Dulles and Long Beach (LGB), so check out those fares too.

And Orange County/Santa Ana (SNA) aka John Wayne airport is also an option, but has very few direct flights. It's about an hour south of LA, not a bad drive, worth it if you can get some kind of sale rate.

Yeah, VA had the best fare, and even with a checked bag fee each way it's only $20 more than Southwest, and both flights would be nonstop. I should just stop stressing and book it already… Bounce

Yeah thanks Admin. I decided to go ahead and book it, it's within my budget for the trip and I found a good deal on a car rental through Orbitz.

So ya'll are stuck with me now! Laugh

Wow, this sounds like fun, don't know if I can make it, but will sure keep the idea open.

For anyone that's a little "Scared" to go out without knowing anyone, I did a few years ago for a Soap event for a group I belong to. We are all part of a chat group and met up. I felt like I had known those girls all my life. Truly a wonderful experience.

IMW, I want you to know I had no part in excluding anyone from the aforementioned list. :) I'm excited to see all of you too!

Kara, I am arriving Wednesday morning and leaving Sunday. I can't take a whole week off of work but since it's a longish flight for me I wanted to make it more than a weekend. With the awesome hotel rate I found I was able to do it.

We are doing about the same thing- we are leaving on Thursday and won't get into LA till late, but we are staying until the following Tuesday and then driving to Las Vegas and staying a night in Vegas and flying out of there home. We are lucking out because Boy's brother lives in LA and we can stay there. Plus we are squeezing in a day at Disneyland too.
