For anyone who missed it, a few days ago Terri challenged Jose to a chat off – you can read it in the comments here http://castletv.net/jose-molin…..transcript
So….. we're looking for ideas on how to conduct The Great Chat Off…
UPDATE: The chat-off will probably take place early Jan to welcome Castle back after the break (subject to change)

Hmmm… Don't want to spread the Mods (or you, Admin) too thin here, but the "Chat-off" implies a contest… so 2 rooms, whoever gets the most people to chat with them wins? :P
Jose in one room, Terri in the other? I have no idea how I'd decide though!

Then I'm not really sure either. Hm, whatever is decided, it's definitely gotta be a contest or something… sounds like a challenge of who can chat the most!

The only solid idea I have so far is to have people submit questions that they both have to answer, the questions can be fun ones, not just the more serious kinda questions we normally have – we know both are writers and both have a good sense of humour so perhaps something to bring that out in them

Of course a "Free for all" would actually show who can "keep up" with all of us together in one room and could be really fun & spontaneous

We could keep track of how many questions each of them can answer in a set amount of time (20 minutes for each writer?), and the writer who can answer the most in that time will win the chat-off! They could be the same questions just so it would be fair. Then we could have a free for all at the end with both writers because that would just be fun (and crazy!).

no that won't work. that would depend on speed of typer, and I think Jose's a faster typer.
i like free for all. maybe a contest with a prize.

out of control, for sure but…
Admin is there any way during chat to count how many times 1 person says anything?
we could set them up in two chat rooms go for the "Free for all" and see who answers more, just have to make sure people know they don't have to be formal questions.

I think separating them may spoil some of the fun… because they won't be able to see how each other is doing – or make digs at each other or anything silly like that

It could be like a dance off.
They get a funny topic to tell a story and one of the two goes first and we keep score who is in the lead.
We then go back and forth on the lead person, since it is such an advantage to go second.
The topics will be light and easy to write about and we can have a scoring method before hand to keep it fair.

I think giving them a set of silly questions beforehand ("What type of bird would you be and why?") and then have a debate! And then after each question is answered we vote on the better answer! :0)

Hmmm, I think I'd want them both in the same chat room for sure. Perhaps we could have a two-part chat off. The First Part with pre-described questions–I like the idea of asking each of them the same question and then having the "fans" vote on the best answer. While I think its great to have a mixture of silly questions with legit questions, I think I'd prefer even the silly questions be minimally about writing or specifically the Castle set/crew/cast since they ARE Castle writers/directors giving us their time. For example, we could ask them who's played the funniest prank on set and describe it; or which cast member is the butt of most of the pranks/jokes; or which of them has written their eposides the fastest and how they did it; or which of them has the goofiest hobby outside of work. You get the idea.
For the Part Two: a wide-open fan directed deluge of questions and we could see which of them could answer the most questions in a set time period.
After all is said and done, we'd have to count the "best answers from the fans" in part ONE with the number of questions answered in part TWO to determine the chat off champion.
