She hears the glass as he puts it down on the counter next to hers. She can feel the heat from his body as he moves closer to her. He reaches over and touches one of the diamond stud earrings she is wearing. He then runs a finger along her jaw line and he drops his hand down and pushes against her hip to turn her towards him. He watches her, her eyes closed and takes in the flush of her cheeks and the goosebumps that have appeared on her arms. He has a slight grin on his face as he says to her, “Cold, Detective?” She opens her eyes, and the grin from his face disappears and he takes a deep breath. She looks at him, while shaking her head, her eyes darker then normal, and her gaze travels to his mouth as she reaches up to pull him down to her waiting mouth.

The warning bells are going off in her head, but she ignores them. He's pulled her closer, his arms around her waist and turns them so that she is between his body and the counter. He pulls on her bottom lip with his mouth and she opens her mouth to him. Her body trembles and she hears a moan and tugs on the lapels of his jacket to pull him closer. She feels him pull away slightly, kissing his way along her jaw line, she moans again and tips her head back to give him easier access. He finds the spot behind her ear and she feels her body weaken against him. “Rick …..”, she moans again, as he nips at that same spot with his teeth. He kisses his way back along her neck and stops as he hovers above her mouth again. “Kate ….?” She opens her eyes and looks up at him and he groans out loud. She tucks again on the lapels on his jacket and whispers, “Don't stop…”

He lowers his mouth to hers again, and all thoughts about Alexis, his mother and the play completely forgotten about. They both stop suddenly and pull away from each other, startled by the vibration from his cell phone. He steps back and pulls the phone from his pocket. Kate watches as she tries to catch her breath and smiles as he swears out loud. He looks up at her, “Alexis and Owen are downstairs waiting.” Kate nods as she moves past him to the couch, picking up her black purse and steps over to the mirror to check herself before they head out the door.

She watches him, in the mirror, as he walks up behind her and turning around, kisses him gently on the lips, “Lucky for you, Alexis has great timing”, she smiles up at him as she runs her hand down the front of his jacket. He smiles back at her, making her stomach do that all too familiar flip again, and pulling her against him says, “I'm going to need a moment here Kate. I can't walk downstairs and get into the car right now.” She looks up at him, clearly understanding why, “I'm sorry Rick,” a small smile tucking at the corner of her mouth. He groans out loud and looks at her, “You're not helping me,” he says to her. She tucks her bottom lip between her teeth; thinking. Again, she hears him groan out loud, “Damn it Kate.” She steps back, putting distance between them. “Sorry,” she says softly and continues, “Well, we better get going or we are going to be late. Plus, Alexis and Owen are in the back of that limo, alone.” She can tell by the way he starts to move towards the door, that did the trick. He opens the door and steps back to let her go first. He stops her as he puts his hand on her upper arm, “Did you bring your gun?” She laughs out loud as they walk out of the apartment and head down the stairs.
