She had come into the city this morning to meet her step daughter for lunch.She smiled at that as she strolled down the street towords the cafe' where she was to meet Alexis.Ah ! Alexis was more like a little sister to her and they had always gotten along perfectly together.

She smiled again as she held the tiny hand of her and Castle's first born. Johanna was 3 now and had her mother's eyes and her fathers personality which ment she had to be watched every minute.She was a gorgeous child and the apple of her fathers eye.

She had been concieved almost instantly when she and Castle had finally gotten together.She blushed at the thought as Johanna pulled her along the street.She thought back of her relationship with Rick Castle.She had always loved him she now thought.He had been a big part of her life for over ten years before she had actually met him.He had saved her at a major crossroad in her life through his books.She had read his books after her mother had been murdered and he had saved her.She loved him for that.

He had saved her again when at another crossroad when he had told her he loved her.That had been nearly 4 years ago now.She had been staring at her mothers killer through the oneway mirror of "the box'.She was near break point and afraid she would let her mother down.She had turned her head and said to him,what if I let her down and Castle had thought a moment and said the three magic words to her to pull her back from the brink."I love you".

He had actually said "Do you know why I chose you as my inspiration for Niki Heat" and she had said "No why" he replied "because your tall" but she had heard "I love you".

She was captain Kate Castle now.She had been given the position when Roy Montgomery had been promoted to assistant commissioner shortly after she had killed her mothers killer in the station house as he had tried to excape.The bastard had his gun trained on her man and she didn't think twice about blowing him to hell.

Of course she had lost her link to the ones who had hired him to kill her mother and that was probably why she remained a cop.

She didn't have to work,Rick was incredibly wealthy with his book sales still through the roof and climbing everyday.After their wedding she felt she had to stay on the job.She had to stay for the very reason she had become a cop.

She wouldn't think about that today though.She was heavy with their second child.God,she blushed again just at the thought.She and Castle had been like a couple of hungry wolves with each other,deep fried twinkie my ass she thought.Their passion showed no sigh of abating anytime soon.They made love almost everyday,sometimes more she thought with a sly grin.

She stooped to pick up Johanna as a black limo pulled up beside her and two masked men jumped out with guns trained on her.She had johanna in her arms as she was jerked into the back of the limo.

She tried to focus.Panic was trying to take over as she feared for the child in her arms and the one inside her.

This was another crossroad.

Where are you Castle? She knew he would come for her as she looked into the eyes of the man that had had her mother killed……………
