Breaking: ABC renews "Castle'

This just in: ABC has renewedCastle for a 22-episode third season!

Castle has been on a ratings upswing this season, posting double-digit increases over its season 2 average. Last night’s episode — the conclusion of the two-part Dana Delany event — attracted the show’s largest audience to date (14.5 million viewers).

Long story short: Castle’s on fire!

Remember the rules everyone!

1. To be performed when major things happen such as fabulous ratings (like this week) to the renewal of season 3

2. You must use music from the show or songs that really remind you of Castle. Upbeat songs are best. (my preference is One Republic's "Everybody Loves Me")

3. Blast the music on really loud, that way when your neighbors complain you can tell them why you are celebrating. If they are Castle fans then they may join you.

4. The more the merrier, Castle fans can celebrate together

5. Dancing around in your underwear like Tom Cruise is more than acceptable

6. Wearing Castle merchandise is a must, grab your Castle t-shirt, use your dvds as a prop, balance Heat Wave on your head etc

7. Swing your hips, jump around, dance like a crazed disco queen, whatever floats your boat but don't just stand there and sway. We are celebrating not waltzing.

8. Using a hairbrush as a microphone is encouraged. Airguitar is also encouraged

9. End every dance by shouting "Castle Rules!" and thanking TPTB at ABC for giving us our Monday Madness every week

10. When the cops and the guys in the white lab coats show up, run away!

It's about time!!! Lol. I guess ABC was making sure that "Castle" was a asset to the network. Which it clearly was!! I'm soooooo happy!! Laugh I LOVE this show. I haven't been this dedicated to a show since "Friends." Woohoo!!! I love you guys!!! Haha.

ABC gives third-season pickup to "Castle"

What a difference a strong "Dancing with the Stars" lead-in makes.

A growth story for much of this season, "Castle" has benefited big time over the last two weeks, thanks to a surging "Dancing." Now, ABC has given an early third season pickup to the drama.

Pickup comes after Monday night's episode — the second half of a two-parter — landed the No. 1 slot at 10 p.m., and also posted its best ratings ever among adults 18-49 (3.7/10) and total viewers (14.5 million).

According to ABC, "Castle" even gave ABC its largest Monday 10 p.m. audience for a regular scripted series since 1996 (!) and its best adults 18-49 mark there since 2001.

Pickup is for a full 22-episode third season.

"Castle," which launched last midseason, stars Nathan Fillion as a novelist who winds up helping an NYPD detective (Stana Katic) solve crimes. Susan Sullivan, Molly Quinn, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Tamala Jones, Jon Huertas and Seamus Dever also star.

ABC Studios is behind "Castle," which comes from exec producers Andrew Marlowe, Rob Bowman, René Echevarria, Laurie Zaks and Armyan Bernstein.

 Happiness only here, but gotta disagree with the dancing lead-in stuff.  Castle's surge began back in Jan when the Bachelor was in front of it, and I think the smash ratings of the last 2 weeks are due to great promotion by ABC and an exciting 2-parter with the best in acting and writing.  Castle is getting noticed by more and more people finally.  I'd just like credit to be given where credit is due!

I came back from having such a nice lunch from PF Chang's (Yeah, I know it's Chinese Fusion food) and I checked my Twitetr account to find that Castle has been renewed. WooHoo! Happy Dance:)
