Just to be fair.. I've had polls without end dates before, BUT you can only ever vote in them once.. AND with the exception of the most recent one they've been with the intention of gaining valuable viewer data…
With only one vote for each person it has an individual end date: as soon as you've voted once it's done and over with. One vote per person is the best by far.
The wetpaint pages have at least four polls going on between Castle and Bones, and Bones have a big lead in the three others, so obvioulsy they have some very dedicated fans on those pages. But since only fans of Castle and Bones will ever see these results, the impact is minimal. And those people already know about Castle, it's not like we'll gain new viewers from them. We were in the lead for some time, the writers got to see that, now I would just let the poll die in silence. Save our polling energy for more important future polls.

I know…makes complete sense, and I certainly let the others go by the wayside. I think I just got a bit invested in this one becase Terri tweeted about it (I'm sure because it was specific to writing which is unusual…it's generally acting, couple, or show polls). I agree it has minimal impact, especially without an end date.

It's when my friend introduced me to Castle and thank God to her..
Just found what i've been looking for a tv series, now im totally OCD…

Agreed on both counts.
That site is just a competition between two fan bases. It's not going to attract new viewers there. Our efforts are better served on other sites that will attract more eyes.

OfflineNev, oh no. You misunderstand. Don't apologize for posting about it. We'd all love to see the writers win this one. It's much more important than the who's hotter polls they posted previously.
The concern is that the polls never end and no winner is ever announced. It's directed at two fan bases and comes down to which side wants to click more.

Offlineyeah, I would love to win this for the writers too, but I guess I'm just fed up with polls for the moment. If people want to go on voting – the best of luck to you. But compared with how the other Bones-Castle polls there went, I just can't summon the energy. I just hope the writers saw that we did have the lead for a while.

Exactly. Wetpaint should do it another way – let's say for 30 days period of time with a limited possiibility of voting, once a day per IP. This would be much more fair. 'cause the polls that never end are only for generating clicks for the website, nothing else.
