OfflineThe thought occurred to me the other day to put a Castle-a-day calendar together, perhaps for Stana's Fan of the Week, but i haven't started it and have no idea how to put one together. In another week or two, I'll have a lot more free time, so maybe I'll head to the craft store and see what I can come up with. Suggestions are welcome.

Ooooh, I had this idea too, Nev! I'd actually started a collection of Castle quotes (going back and rewatched starting at the pilot). I know you can create traditional calendars (12 months) at shutterfly.com and other sites- they turn out really well and aren't that expensive. I even found one site http://www.printedowl.com that will do customized page-a-day calendars. I'm gonna email them to check on prices.
There's also this website I found a while back http://www.ehow.com/how_512275…..endar.html, but I haven't actually tried to do it yet
I don't think that we can use images and come to think of it, if we do anything "en masse", it's probably not kosher since it violates copyrights… hmm.
I guess we should email ABC and tell them to make a calendar, but it's probably not gonna happen in time for 2011. If we make our own individually, then it's probably ok.
I'm happy to help out in anyway I can- I will try and work on my word processor and see if I can get the formatting right in order to print in a way in which you could easily do several quotes on a page and then use a paper cutter to separate them. Lemme know what you think (feel free to PM if you want).

Not when you're using screencaps from your own DVDs or screencaps from TV. I made a Castle Calendar last year using my own screencaps from season 1 DVDs and some screencaps from one of Castle photo galleries and my calendar was chosen mid-February as "Castle Fan of The Week" by Stana at her website. The moderator of ABC Advisory Panel website also put it in their media gallery
I'm currently doing screencaps from season 2 DVDs for 2011 edition (traditional full 12 months calendar, which I'm making with MS Publisher and MS Power Point. And Word for the Legal Note.)

Good to know, katban. I won't be able to start on anything until next week because i'm busy with other commitments, (and trying to catch up on screencapping and episode summaries for the wiki). I appreciate your wanting to help. I'm not expert on copyright law and intellectual property, but I always thought that as long as we don't SELL the calendars with the pictures and quotes for profit, we won't be in violation. Of course, the copyright info will be in small print next to every picture. But it never hurts to ask ABC to safe or to price out things on other sites. It's also possible that if we go through a website service (like the one you suggested), they will refuse because of copyright concerns. I've collected so many quotes and so many pictures that I'm sure it won't take me long to put this together. The problem will be choosing which quotes to go with which pictures and the formatting and assembly.
But good to know I have someone willing to help me with this!

I think Nev is right. As long as you don't SELL the calendar, just share with friends/fans there shouldn't be a problem with rights.
I did collect pictures yesterday and sorted them out and started to sort them into the months. I haven't found a layout I'd like to use. I will try my best on PhotoFilter and Photoshop. I think I will start now… let u know when I finished my first month!
Thanks to Always!!!

OfflineI know from last year that we can make our own calendar, post it, and allow people to print it out on their own as long as no one charges anything.
