The 1956 film "The Court Jester", not so much that it reminds me of Castle, but if they ever have a case of mistaken poisoning, I can see Castle immediately reciting, "The pellet with the poison…" until Beckett explodes… an invective from the detective…

or it could just be that I'm warped….

I can totally see Castle doing the "The pettet with the poison", they could have great fun with "The Court Jester", great idea.

I love that Tracey/Hepburn shot (from "Woman of the Year" their first film together"). Also love our DD's version.

It's so weird seeing this thread. I've often told my husband that Nathan has the same charm and dashingly handsome looks as Cary Grant, who is my favorite actor of all time. I would love to see Nathan in a role like Cary did in Notorious or North by Northwest. And of course, he'd be wonderful in a remake of Father Goose. smile

His Girl Friday, anyone? I just saw it not long ago and was surprised at how much the characters reminded me of Castle. Isn't it also the same movie he was watching in "A Deadly Game" while avoiding Gina's calls? I believe it was with Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell.

Check out this photo. TV Guide cover inspiration?

Yes- it was "His Girl Friday" in "A Deadly Game". Great find! I'm sure there's more out there, just have to look. smile

So if you don't watch promos, skip this post… (it's regarding 4x05)

While watching the newest promo for 4x05 and Castle's reaction as Beckett goes into the interrogation room without him (how he wants to strangle her!), I was instantly reminded of the classic opening scene in "The Philadelphia Story" between Dexter and Tracy, especially at the very end. So much conveyed without a single word- such expressive non-verbal acting- just like "Castle". [Image Can Not Be Found]

Well, just watch (scroll forward to ~ 1:38):

just went through this thread again and thank you all for these parallels!  I seriously need to watch more Hepburn & Tracey and Cary Grant-era movies.  The only one I've seen is Arsenic and Old Lace and that was years ago.  And I do agree Nathan and Stana are very much throwbacks to those types of actors.  Attractive, intelligent, humorous, and talented sure, but there's also an "X-factor" (sorry, couldn't think of a better way to put it) there.  Andrew Marlowe said he's always been a fan of those movies and it really shows!  But I never thought of the parallels in the advertisements!

Brilliant!

Nathan would be great in Arsenic and Old Lace!  He'd look great in new lace too!  (LOL, just can't resist making a Castle-esque pun.)

Stana and Nathan could definitely remake some of the old films. They both have the class, charm and intelligence!

I meant to mention that I really like the photos at the top of the webpage – everyone in their 40's era, film noir garb.  That would make a great poster!  Wave

I agree totally!  Nathan could totally pull off a modern day version of Cary Grant and Stana could pull off a modern version, of…well several actresses from that era.

Indiscreet!  I'm referring to the film starring Cary and Ingrid Bergman.  That would be a great remake for Stana and Nathan! It's so funny, and so witty, so realistic in the portrayal of boy/girl relationships too.
