Art by the numbers…. ick…
This whole concept of mucking around with a finely-tuned piece of art based on a poorly worded questionnaire is enough to make me want to throw something.
Keep the bean counters out of my favorite story!
I hear you…but the bean counters of the world often pay the bills. Sad but true. It's always been like that. Even Shakespeare, Marlowe (Philip, that is) and others had to sometimes bow to the ones with the money purses. On the other hand many works of art would never have been made without them
Like I said above I don't know why they even have this questionnaire…but clearly for a reason.

It's odd the question what you would to if they didn't get romantically involved has only three answers, all positive or neutral. I think the answer I hope everyone gives, that continuing to delay their relationship will mean I'll stop watching eventually was missed in the making of the article as all other questions have four answers.
I was able to successfully join and did the survey. I saw that odd question choice, too, and actually commented on it in the comment section. In a very nice polite way, I said, "Don't screw with the loyal viewers." I was very polite.
I also in a couple of the comment section pointed out how much I like the way Andrew Marlowe is telling Castle and Beckett's story with the hope that it would be allowed to play out naturally according to his plan and not artificial constraints. I said I would like to see them together by the end of this season. It wasn't one of the choices so I wrote it in the comments.
There was seriously no other choice to answer that question other then 'I'll keep watching the same or even more' ? That's pretty terrible. I'm sure AM will pull this survey out later to explain why even at the end of season 8 they're not together: Everybody Wanted It Like This !
Yes. They were definitely looking for an "atta-boy" on not getting them together. On the poll, I gave an example of how I had watched Grey's Anatomy since Season 5 because I was captivated by Owen and Christina's story. But this season, Shonda Rimes has taken their story in horrible directions (and frankly, out-of-character), particularly with the stupid abortion story arc. Because Christina decided her only choice was to abort her husband's baby since she never wanted to be a mother–why the heck didn't you get your tubes tied the first time you got pregnant?! You're a doctor fer-pete's-sake! Hello, I get that some people don't want to be parents, but to make Ms. Hyper-Type-A too stupid to take responsibility for her own birth control? It is stretching belief too far to think the current scenario is in character, and their marriage has gone to hell in a handbasket. I quit watching because I don't have time to waste on poor story-telling.
Castle has great story-telling–I don't want TPTB at ABC messing with that. I'd rather they went and messed with Grey's and Shonda Rimes.

OfflineI'm with you in regards to the relationship; I think the end of this season would be perfect, yet that wasn't an option. I just emphasized how I want it to happen naturally and shouldn't be dragged out for too much longer, as it will feel like more artificial objects are being thrown in the way.
In regards to Lanie and Esposito, I don't care much what happens, but I also noted how I want to see Lanie and Kate's relationship explored more. I'm really missing that from previous seasons, and felt that was an appropriate place to bring it up.
In the end, I just hope Marlowe does what he wants to see happen, and not let polls like this hugely influence the storyline. While Sucker Punch was the ep that got me hooked on the series, because I wanted to understand Beckett's character, I think that plotline is being dragged out too much for my taste. And Beckett is my favorite character.
Marlowe, please follow your original intentions for the show! That's all I want to see, and I'm sure I'm not the only fan who feels that way.

OfflineI was glad to see I wasn't the only person bothered by that question.
And my first remark was, "you didn't give us an option that said "I would watch less or stop watching" if Castle and Beckett were never allowed to get together."
I then nicely reminded them that we've already been promised, via the TVguide cover last February, that "They Will" eventually get together and that we have held on to that promise in times of frustration and angst. I then went on to say that the "Moonlighting Curse" was ridiculous and that AWM & Co. have done a fantastic job or setting up this story and will still have an incredible story to tell once the two are allowed to be together. And that Castle fans are loyal and some have been with this for 3 years, and to continue to frustrate the audience (new and established) would probably cost them viewers. We don't want to be jerked around.

Offlinewhat exactly was the question and the answers for the caskett relationship, does anyone remember? I won't even try to apply because I'm not a US citizen
wasn't there another poll about what Castle song you would put on your playlist? Are they really going to release a soundtrack?
PrettyFloral: I agree 100% with you about Grey's. My friend made me watch it, and I liked Cristina and Owen but I'm not even going to watch the new season for exactly the reasons you mentioned.

OfflineI was allowed to join the advisory board too… Answered all the current surveys.
Keep in mind that this is the advisory board for ABC Studies. It is not for the ABC network. So they talk about shows that they make even if they are on other networks.

Maybe some of you already are. I'd never heard of it, so in case you're interested you can try and join.

OfflineLast year, around this time, they did the same poll. Only the question was: which character is not so important?
I did not take part in the poll as i did not lk that question but then again i was not surprised when monty was bumped off!!! Did everybody vote for monty then??? I hope not!!
I hope monty's dealth was completely from AM's storytellin and not ABC's interfering!!!

I was about to mention a similar poll last year, but you beat me to it. I also remember some of the same-sounding fears expressed then.
Chill.
There was a lot of fear that we would lose one or more cast members in a cost-cutting move then. What we got was the loss of one character who was immediately replaced by another. That's not exactly cost-cutting.
What we found out at the end of the season was that one of the writers (Beals?) had pitched the idea to AWM around mid-season as a natural consequence of the developments in Knockdown. But we didn't know that yet. For all we know, ABC was gauging the reaction from the fans before giving AWM the green light for it.
So far, it seems our writers have been relatively free in pursuing their desired storylines too much heavy handed interference from the network.
So let's just take a chill pill and wait for the next twist in the ride.

OfflineThanks to everybody in this thread who answered the questionnaire so far and therewith represented our interests!
Can I say that I find this whole questionnaire-thing really strange? Itself and the style. But I`ve never been a friend of the MC-answers-style anyway (not even in university). I just don`t like it, when the answers are given. In these cases, they mostly try to drag you into a certain direction. I prefer to word my answers on my own.

OfflineI definitely agree. If picked the best choice for each question, then made a comment that qualified the answer to try and represent what I really wished I could have answered.

Oh, rats! I shouldn't have said so much–I forgot y'all have not seen this season of Grey's yet. Yes, if you like Cristina and Owen together, you probably would be very frustrated/upset with their story arc this season.

OfflineI was able to get registered. I think they were interesting questions, but not THAT hard to answer. The key points that I mentioned were that, yes I want them to get together this season (all the other options were too broad for me), but that I wanted them to flesh out their secrets. I also said that while I want them to be a happy couple, I don't want them to be a "perfect" couple. That would be completely unrealistic and become very boring. I would HATE it if they turned into a "break-up/make-up" couple, but they are very different people and there will be times when the butt heads. I said that I would like the JB case solved by the middle of next season, but that I would love to see the trial. I think it would be interesting to see that case go to trial b/c you know they would all be called to the stand and that is probably when Monty's secrets would come out.
