Some insight into the business side of a show like Castle: budget constraints, product placement, casting guest stars, social media, etc.

Thanks for the link.  It's interesting to get a "peak" behind the scenes of how things get done and why they do what they do.

Well, if he looks at twitter following when casting, then I guess it's just a matter of time before Penny and Captain Hammer is reunited… Felicia Day has close to 2 million followers. Alyssa Milano isn't far behind, she probably brought in a lot of new viewers for ep 212.

I wish I knew how to quit you.

Thank you so much for sharing, what a great read!

Thank you, it was an interesting article. Poor actors and actresses who are not in the twitterverse, they don't know what they miss [Image Can Not Be Found] . It was strange though that the idea was surprising to the other showrunners.

I don't want to make a separate topic for this, but I thought it was an interesting article (as a regular viewer of Bones myself), given how Marlowe has stated in interviews and panels that he has valued Twitter as a means to promote the show, cast guest stars, and hear from fans (although he did say he'd stay off it for the finale in fear of fan reaction and clearly changed his mind).  This article includes a recent interview with Bones' Hart Hanson about Twitter and fan interaction: http://blogcritics.org/video/a…..flects-on/

I'm sure fan feedback can get maddening at times, but Hanson has some pretty strong things to say here.

Hm, interesting interview, and though his words are really strong, I think there are a lot of value in them, mainly in two fields, the top-twittering superfans and the often hysterical reactions.

You're right, interesting article, and to a certain extent I find that I agree with Hart Hanson.  But, on the other hand, having read some of his twitter comments and commentary throughout the past year, I think that he certainly could have handled the whole twitter situation with a bit more panache and diplomacy.  It's interesting to compare and contrast the different styles of Andrew Marlowe and Hart Hanson in their dealing with the public.

Having read AWM's & TEM's Twitter comments, I think our writers 'get it' better, and are doing a superb job of filtering out the comments of those who think they have better ideas.

"Evangelizing" your viewers?  I never thought of myself as an evangelical Castle viewer, but if that's what Marlowe considers me, I'm guilty!

Thank you for that article, it really was interesting!
But wth does "evangelizing your viewers" mean? Does he mean praising us? lol.

About the whole twitter thing, I do get where HH is coming from. Now don't get me wrong, of all showrunners from shows I've ever watched, he's the only one that I really, really don't like (that's putting it mildly), but I do believe him when he says he feels insulted on Twitter all the time. Hell, back in the day, the only thing I wanted to do was go rant at him on the internet (I didn't). But I agree with Letfield, maybe it wouldn't be the case if he played nice with the fans; I swear he gets out of his ways to find the exact thing to say to fans to anger them.

That's why I put Marlowe and and TM on a pedestal, and get incredibly annoyed at the Castle fandom when "fans" go all stupid, ranty and disrespectful on their Twitter accounts.

In its most basic sense, it is "to spread the word".
