http://www.searchingbones.com/…..v-fathers/

The fun thing in this Buddy TV poll is that two characters played by David Boreanaz ranked in the top 15 out of 50 TV fathers for the fans’ favorite. I added a photo of David Boreanaz with his real life son Jaden.

I think it’s funny that this list includes one drag queen (Chandler Bing’s father on Friends) a couple of animated fathers, and even a couple of real-life fathers including Snoop Dogg, Hulk Hogan & Ozzy Osbourne. What a list!

Here was the competition:

  1. Keith Mars, Veronica Mars
  2. Sandy Cohen, The O.C.
  3. Hank Moody, Californication
  4. Eric Taylor, Friday Night Lights
  5. John Winchester, Supernatural
  6. Nathan Scott, One Tree Hill
  7. Jack Bristow, Alias
  8. Christopher Hayden, Gilmore Girls
  9. Richard Castle, Castle
  10. Jed Bartlet, The West Wing
  11. Angel, Angel
  12. Andy Brown, Everwood
  13. Seeley Booth, Bones
  14. Rufus Humphrey, Gossip Girl
  15. William Adama, Battlestar Galactica
  16. Jack Bauer, 24
  17. Snoop Dogg, Snoop Doggs Father Hood
  18. Brian Darling, Dirty Sexy Money
  19. Lincoln Burrows, Prison Break
  20. Jonathan Kent, Smallville
  21. Peter Griffin, Family Guy
  22. HRG, Heroes
  23. Jesse Katsopolis, Full House
  24. Ozzy Osbourne, The Osbournes
  25. Tobias Funke, Arrested Development
  26. Perry Cox, Scrubs
  27. Emerson Cod, Pushing Daisies
  28. Mitch Leary, Dawson’s Creek
  29. Max, United States of Tara
  30. Jax Teller, Sons of Anarchy
  31. Steve Bartowski, Chuck
  32. Walter Bishop, Fringe
  33. Red Forman, That ’70s Show
  34. Hulk Hogan, Hogan Knows Best
  35. Steve Brady, Sex and the City
  36. Harry Wilson, 90210
  37. Luke Danes, Gilmore Girls
  38. Robbie Ray Stewart, Hannah Montana
  39. Martin Crane, Frasier
  40. Charles Bing, Friends
  41. Philip Banks, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
  42. Tom Scavo, Desperate Housewives
  43. Sam Bennett, Private Practice
  44. Jack Carter, Eureka
  45. Michael Bluth, Arrested Development
  46. Homer Simpson, The Simpsons
  47. Hal, Malcolm in the Middle
  48. Ricky Underwood, The Secret Life of the American Teenager
  49. Al Bundy, Married…with Children
  50. Frank Reynolds, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Wow, I'm impressed Castle made the list considering how few people seem to have heard of this show. He portrays a realistic dad, in the sense that he screws up and knows it, but still encourages his daughter to find her own place – even if it means having adventures that lead to "inappropriate stories."

And Seeley Booth should definitely be on it – the scenes with Parker are always awesome. I wish they'd include him in more episodes. Also glad they got Jack Bristow… Alias is another awesome show.

I think they should have included Tom Baldwin from The 4400 (an really good show if you haven't seen it).

Really? I don't think he's a realistic dad at all. In my opinion, he's the dad everyone wants.

I'm pretty sure he would be a grounding father. He can be serious when he wants to. As well as I believe he knows how to not spoil when he wants to.

I thought that was interesting too. I wonder how they put together this list?

Amaranth, I agree with akajb. I don't think you could really say that any tv father is unrealistic, since there very well could be fathers out there that behave that way (the exception would be a character like Peter Griffin of course). And akajb was saying in the sense that he makes mistakes and acknowledges it, and still tries to raise his daughter in the best way that he can. I'd say that's pretty realistic.
