http://www.searchingbones.com/…..v-fathers/
The fun thing in this Buddy TV poll is that two characters played by David Boreanaz ranked in the top 15 out of 50 TV fathers for the fans’ favorite. I added a photo of David Boreanaz with his real life son Jaden.
I think it’s funny that this list includes one drag queen (Chandler Bing’s father on Friends) a couple of animated fathers, and even a couple of real-life fathers including Snoop Dogg, Hulk Hogan & Ozzy Osbourne. What a list!
Here was the competition:
- Keith Mars, Veronica Mars
- Sandy Cohen, The O.C.
- Hank Moody, Californication
- Eric Taylor, Friday Night Lights
- John Winchester, Supernatural
- Nathan Scott, One Tree Hill
- Jack Bristow, Alias
- Christopher Hayden, Gilmore Girls
- Richard Castle, Castle
- Jed Bartlet, The West Wing
- Angel, Angel
- Andy Brown, Everwood
- Seeley Booth, Bones
- Rufus Humphrey, Gossip Girl
- William Adama, Battlestar Galactica
- Jack Bauer, 24
- Snoop Dogg, Snoop Doggs Father Hood
- Brian Darling, Dirty Sexy Money
- Lincoln Burrows, Prison Break
- Jonathan Kent, Smallville
- Peter Griffin, Family Guy
- HRG, Heroes
- Jesse Katsopolis, Full House
- Ozzy Osbourne, The Osbournes
- Tobias Funke, Arrested Development
- Perry Cox, Scrubs
- Emerson Cod, Pushing Daisies
- Mitch Leary, Dawson’s Creek
- Max, United States of Tara
- Jax Teller, Sons of Anarchy
- Steve Bartowski, Chuck
- Walter Bishop, Fringe
- Red Forman, That ’70s Show
- Hulk Hogan, Hogan Knows Best
- Steve Brady, Sex and the City
- Harry Wilson, 90210
- Luke Danes, Gilmore Girls
- Robbie Ray Stewart, Hannah Montana
- Martin Crane, Frasier
- Charles Bing, Friends
- Philip Banks, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
- Tom Scavo, Desperate Housewives
- Sam Bennett, Private Practice
- Jack Carter, Eureka
- Michael Bluth, Arrested Development
- Homer Simpson, The Simpsons
- Hal, Malcolm in the Middle
- Ricky Underwood, The Secret Life of the American Teenager
- Al Bundy, Married…with Children
- Frank Reynolds, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Wow, I'm impressed Castle made the list considering how few people seem to have heard of this show. He portrays a realistic dad, in the sense that he screws up and knows it, but still encourages his daughter to find her own place – even if it means having adventures that lead to "inappropriate stories."
And Seeley Booth should definitely be on it – the scenes with Parker are always awesome. I wish they'd include him in more episodes. Also glad they got Jack Bristow… Alias is another awesome show.
I think they should have included Tom Baldwin from The 4400 (an really good show if you haven't seen it).

Really? I don't think he's a realistic dad at all. In my opinion, he's the dad everyone wants.

I'm pretty sure he would be a grounding father. He can be serious when he wants to. As well as I believe he knows how to not spoil when he wants to.

I thought that was interesting too. I wonder how they put together this list?
Amaranth, I agree with akajb. I don't think you could really say that any tv father is unrealistic, since there very well could be fathers out there that behave that way (the exception would be a character like Peter Griffin of course). And akajb was saying in the sense that he makes mistakes and acknowledges it, and still tries to raise his daughter in the best way that he can. I'd say that's pretty realistic.
