Nice jobs translating everyone! That was a nice interview.

I hope this isn't old news…

a very short interview with Stana http://tvmag.lefigaro.fr/progr…..html#photo

and one short one with Nathan that is really cute. I didn't know that he had cats. http://tvmag.lefigaro.fr/progr…..onfie.html

They are not very exciting but I thought I'd post it anyway. Oh, and it's in French :P

Ah.  I was hoping it would be in German–I can still read a bit of German, though it's been a long while since I took it in university.

Did Nathan elaborate about the cats or just mention them?  Inquiring, cat-loving minds want to know! Laugh

Oh, you're on too? Laugh

I'm going to try to translate that Yen35, but I can't promise I'll make a good job at it.

With Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic shines. "There is a natural chemistry because Nathan is talented and loves what he does. It's easy to act with him. On set he is generous and gives room to his partners." Nathan Fillion also praises his partner "Have you seen Stana? She is so attractive that it's really easy for me to play with her, he jokes. Plus, she knows how to act without doing anything wrong. The pitch, the posture … Everything is always perfect."

Both actors like each other but don't picture any kind of romance between them. Neither behind the scenes nor in the show. (I'm not going to translate the part in italic because it doesn't make any sense from what we know of the show).

Stana says that Nathan Fillion is "adorable". "We have a very good time working together. He kind of became the big brother who gives me advices, we can always count on him. I hope he'll soon find someone great to share his life with."

I don't know if it's the part that you wanted to be translated, but hope it helps.

Do or do not… there is no try. French so forgive my english...

Nice translation. The only word I would amusingly dispute is "seduisante" — I don't thing "attractive" is the right word; "seductive", "alluring" are closer.  Of course that could just be the French way of translating originally from the English!!!!!!! (Those French!).

mayhem, thanks so much for the translation. Thats great that they really enjoy working together. And thanks also for the translation of the other interview where Nathan was talking about British shows.

I find it ironic that all the viewers are clamouring for them to get together on the show and Nathan is strongly opposed to it.

walkind, thanks for translating that part with Nathan where he says he likes to spend time at home with his cats. After watching the last episode, I am surprised he doesn't have a dog!

He claims to be a dog person, actually, so it's just happened that he ended up with a cat — in one of his interviews he tells this story — . He even made a wheel chair for her when her hind legs were paralyzed. After this cat died at the age of 26, he adopted another older cat, Spartacus, and recently he added a second cat to keep Spartacus company, as he feels lonely at home, since Nathan now works very long hours. Now he has two cats and worries that he's "only 4 cats away from 6 cats!", and when he reaches that number, he can be officially considered "a crazy cat lady" (interview with Jimmy Kimmel, you can also find in on Youtube, if you wish). He's a really sweet and kind-hearted guy, Nathan.

That is such a cute story!!! Thank you, I hadn't seen that interview, it's awesome!! Funny thing is – I never liked cats either. At all. And then my sister bribed me into watching her cat for a week while she was on holiday (she never wanted a cat, a boyfriend gave her a kitten as a present!) and the cat and I fell in love and he stayed, he slept in my bed, I took him out for walks on a leash, he licked my hand when I cried over bad breakups, he was so adorable! And when we moved we bought another cat to keep him company, alas, the other cat was pregnant so we ended up with 2 cats and 3 kitten and they occupied almost the whole apartment. We even build them little cat balconys on our balcony so they could sunbathe and watch the street.

And even if he was a dog person with his work hours it would be impossible to keep a dog. We kept the mother and two of her children (my male cat just dropped dead one day Cry) but gave them to a friend recently because we are often away for the whole weekend (going home, visiting family) and even though they had themselves it wasn't fair to leave them alone over the weekend so often. Cry They were very attached to humans. Nicest and kindes cats I've ever seen (Ragdoll with British Shorthair). My daughter didn't really care, she wants a dog!

For those interested I've tried to translate the whole interview with Nathan. Remember that a) I'm definitely not a translator and b) this was translated from English to French to English, by a German :P

Nathan Fillion, how do you explain the success of the show?
Castle is a show that is easy to like. Richard Castle is like anybody else with problems people can relate to. He’s not a perfect person and that turns out to be more entertaining and funnier to watch. People like to laugh. Me too, when I watch TV I want to say: “Thank God I’m not that guy!”

What do you like about your character?
He tries to be cool but he doesn’t manage to be cool at all and he doesn’t even realize it. I like him being an idiot and not even knowing about that. And I appreciate that he’s so childish. Like him, I love gadgets and games but also fantastic and ridiculous things.

You are both famous…
It’s true that, like in the show, I am surrounded by talented people and being treated as well as him in the press (??). That’s also why it’s easy for me feel like that character.

Did you know right away that Stana would be your co-star?
I remember above all that there were a lot of young women at the casting – 120 I believe – and I auditioned with a lot of them. That was quite a difficult process so when we found Stana, that was a true relief. There was a spark with/about her, but to be honest, there were so many young, talented women that there were sparks everywhere!

Is the harmony always there?
For four years we spend almost every day together and and it’s great to know you can count on the person you work with. I admire her because she has a lot of text to learn, long monologues. In fact it’s her who takes a big part of the workload. Castle is always there, but she makes the cop scenes work. We are a very good team.

Do you think that Castle and Beckett should have a romantic relationship?
No, because the people watching the show want that they get together but also like that they don’t because of the circumstances or their personality. For me it’s not necessary that they have a relationship before the show ends. About that we don’t agree with Stana. She thinks that Castle and Beckett should become a couple.

Could that situation last for some while?
I wouldn’t want to have one season too many and that the show dies out. British shows don’t last longer than one season, maybe two, but that doesn’t stop them from being brilliant and much appreciated by the audience. There’s a lesson to learn from that. I’d like for Castle a strong and happy end, with everyone reunited. I don’t want to give the audience the opportunity to get bored.

[he talks about 3x24]

Is it true that like your character you’re writing, especially a script for a pilot?
I did indeed have an idea for a pilot. I wrote it and I tried to sell it. I went quite far during that process but I’ve realized that it’s not my thing, it’s too stressful. It means a lot of responsibility and that was never my strength – a bit like Castle!

Who ist the true Nathan Fillion?
I like to spend my time at home, alone, with my cats. I'm very homely/domestic. I also love to be outside to go for a walk or to go swimming. I'm very close to my familiy and friends. I'm probably the most happy person you know.

***

And I thought a bit about the one season too many thing. He is right, but what would be worse? Let's say they do get together in season 5 (and even I, who doesn't want that to happen, thinks it's inevitable and MUST happen) and let's say that the audience does lose interest around the time in season 6 and the show gets cancelled – that means we had 6 great seasons and we saw them being together. What happens when they are still not together in season 5… or even 6? People will lose interest too, we would maybe get a 7th season and then they'd be together but the show would be cancelled anyway. No, then I'll rather take 6 seasons with them as a couple than 7 seasons with a lot of frustration.

Carrie, thanks so much for posting that great interview. I love this talk show host and I also love 'Desperate housewives'. Not so much as Castle of course but I have watched and enjoyed it for 7 years so much longer than for Castle, NCIS or Criminal Minds.

Waldkind, thanks very much for translating the full interview.

waldkind — yeah, a similar story happened to me as well — I've never considered myself a cat-person, but then I just had to take a temporaly custody over a cat and in the end fall completely in love with the animal. They just know the ways to melt our hearts, these furry little creatures.

Thank you so much for the translation! I tried to read it in French, but I don't know the language that well, so it was nice to be able to check myself and see if I understood it correctly.

You welcome! Yes, I like Ellen Degeneres too, such a smart and funny lady. BTW, I remember that she was mentioned once in Castle — in one of the episodes of the 1st season, when one of the boys, Ryan or Esposito, are saying that there are no examples of lasting happy couples, Castle brings Degeneres/De Rossi as an example (and the hidden joke is that this is a lesbian couple, not a man/woman couple).

And Nathan always gives very funny interviews, and he loves to talk about his animals (well, maybe because it's just a perfectly safe and entertaining subject, after all). He tells more about this cat in another interview that he did about a year ago, which is very long (almost 2 hours) and it's definitely one of the most serious and in-depth interviews with him so far, where he gets enough time to talk about many things, such as his Canadian youth, his earlier career, his work with Joss Whedon, his work on set of Castle and, of course, his cats. I watched it in parts, so it took me several days to finish it, but it was definitely worth it, at least for a Fillion fan. Love2 Just in case someone is interested, here's the link —  Oh, and Nathan appears in the studio only at 17:00, after the clip from Dr. Horrble Sing-Along Blog.

yen: funny that you mention Desperate Housewives because I think that show is a perfect example for "one season too many". In my opinion at least. I loved that show but last season was boring and full with horrible plot ideas. They brought two of the most annoying characters back and what they did to poor Gabby, the whole switched-babys-arc, that was awful. This season (the last) is slightly better but I've realized that there isn't really anything new they could tell us about the characters. They don't even give us a new "secret", instead a person is getting killed accidentally again. Yawn. And why not call the police? Like they did when Dana Delany's ex died in similar circumstances? And that is sad because the show used to be really good.

I did think that the last episode of the person getting accidently killed was remarkably similar to the plot line of an earlier season but I quite liked the mixed up baby arc. However, unlike in Castle, I am not particularly attached to the characters of this show (although I like all of them) so its easy to watch and enjoy instead of sitting and wondering how long it will take for 2 people to get together! Having said that, I am not sorry that DH is ending this season. Definitely another season would have been too much for me also.
