OfflineI was reading a small article on Bones, and Hart mentioned Castle:
"I was originally planning to say something this week about why Bones has managed to survive and thrive when most lighthearted crime dramas don’t do well on major networks. However, Castle, which is sort of a gender-reversed version of Bones, did well enough after Dancing With the Stars that it, too, might become successful. So bang goes that theory."
I (and the rest of us here) already know that Castle is successful, but I smiled a little when I heard that Hanson thinks so too! If you're a Bones fan, the rest of the article can be found here.

The reason why Bones is so successful is becasue of the two leads, David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel. They are so likable and have such a great chemistry.
As for the storklines, let just say they seriously messed up with last season's finale. But I don think it's getting to a point that they seriously need to get Bones and Booth together. It's silly to not get them together now. Whether they do it now or later, the show will end its run somehow. I would never want Castle to take the Bones oute.
I do think that before season 3 ends, Castle and Beckett should have gone out on their first "official" date. And by mi season 4, it should be a real relationship.

Thanks for the Castle mention. I think we're a little further along the "might" become successful stage.
Yeah… that kind of annoyed me. Might? I think 12.94 million viewers is a little past "might"… just sayin'!

OfflineGeez, what's he going to say next? That his show laid the groundwork for Castle to become successful? Because Bones is 100% original?

I'd go further and say they seriously messed up season 3's finale, too. And yeah, without Boreanaz & Deschanel, Hanson would have nothing because he's made it all about B&B.

OfflineI used to really love Bones, but it's become a little mundane. B/B are getting a little annoying, and I agree that it's high time they get together, because the chase is well beyond drawn out.
I don't think he intended it as an insult, at all. I'm not quite sure how to phrase what I think he really meant, so I will post it later when I think of it. I really enjoy Castle because it's fresh, and that's what keeps it enjoyable. That's what I liked about Bones at the beginning. Castle is highly successful to its hardcore followers, but it doesn't quite have the wide fanbase across the board. It's done a great job of holding its own, but we just need to work harder to get everyone watching it. Once it stops following a big show, that's when other producers tend to see something as "successful". ABC is proving that point by (somehow) splitting up Tick Tick Tick and Boom. They know we'll follow, and anyone who happens to catch it somewhere else will definitely want to watch the conclusion on Monday.
I was in the minority that liked the Season 3 finale, for everyone that said Bones was getting too mundane and "typical", he threw in something different. Yes, it could be seen as a cop out, but it was unexpected. I personally just don't like that Bones (the character) has regressed in her embracing the "real world". But that's just me.
I would find it a great thing that Hart Hanson believes in Castle. If the competition believes in us, what's stopping us now?

OfflineBones started to fall apart for me this season. I think that the writing has really been lacking, I don't even recognise Brennan anymore. It's like she's a whole different, kinda boring, person. They have dragged their relationship out way too long and the cases are leaning toward Scooby Doo. It's sad, its been one of my favorite shows for years. I hope they really step it up for the rest of the season.
Castle I just discovered a couple of months ago. I love it. The writting is fantastic and the relationship between Beckett and Castle is amazing. Every episode just gets better and better. I'm hooked, definitely a success.

You mind expanding on what you meant by this? I'm a little confused as to whether you enjoyed her completely different outlook on life that she had in the earlier seasons, or whether you think she hasn't "grown" enough through her interactions with Booth.
(I had no problem with the Season 3 finale being unexpected, I just thought it was extremely badly written and rushed.)

In the beginning of the show, I liked her being "ignorant" and not understand the real world. It was cute and well done, but not overbearing. It was pretty funny at times. Through Season 2-3, she started to show an understanding towards what Booth feels and how he and other people see the world. It was great to see her grow as a person, and to watch it help her relationship (both professionally and personally) with Booth. Now, it seems after Booths surgery, she's back to her old self, and much worse. It's like they are trying too hard to make her herself again, and it's gone too far. It's not helping her with Booth, and they don't have that charisma that they used to.

Castle I just discovered a couple of months ago. I love it. The writting is fantastic and the relationship between Beckett and Castle is amazing. Every episode just gets better and better. I'm hooked, definitely a success.
One thing I LOVE about Beckett is that she's never too proud to admit when she's wrong. She's willing to listen to Castle's theories or others for that matter. She never has this attitude that she's better than Castle or Ryan or Esposito. She respects those she works with. This is proven even more so from the last episode. The way she worked with the FBI and she accepted that the FBI had jurisdiction.
That's the problem I have with Brennan. She's so damn intelligent and yes, she let's everyone know about it and that's better than all of them. Although she does respect the people she works with, she would never admit than they are smarter than her. She bluntly says it. And she makes you feel dumb. And that's horrible, you know.
Another thing I love about Beckett is that although in the beginning, she would just make fun of Castle but I do think that's her way of not letting the fan girl in her show (hehehe) she respects and defend Castle who thinks of Castle as a joke. Like with Will, I love how she defended Castle to him. And you can see Kate's dilema and really felt for Castle when Will made his snarky remarks.
Beckett is such a multi-dimensional character. She's tough and yet, you see her with the victim's family, and you see that other side of her. She's controlling and serious and yet, you see her play along with Castle and the boys.
The writers have done a wonderful job in how they have developed Beckett's character and how they have slowly unravel who she is and most importantly, the development of Castle and Beckett's relationship.
I think season 3 will be a really big test for the writers of the show. How will they keep it fresh and how will they keep the relationship of Beckett and Castle progressing without the angst that we often see in shows between the male and female lead. I can handle angst but let's leave that to Beckett and Castle's pursuit of the person behind her mother's murder.

OfflineYou forgot one thing about Beckett. She's also pretty classy!
I agree with you about season 3, it's going to be a bit of a make or break as far as their relationship is concerned. There is plenty of ways to inject angst and tension into a relationship besides keeping them apart.
Yeah, very classy. She showed so much class in the last episode.

OfflineI don't think he meant it as an insult either.
I like how the ABC president wants Castle to be their version of Bones. In terms of the tone and how there different from the other procedurals out there. But here's hoping that Castle gets it right where Bones has failed.
