Hey there – I'm the writer of that interview with Mr. Santiago-Hudson. 
Looking at it, I'm not 100% sure that his comment was for this current
season or next season.  He could have meant that he had to back out of
performing with Al Pacino in The Merchant of Venice because he had two
more episodes to film for this season or that he had to come back
earlier for next season.

I didn't even consider it when I spoke to him, so I apologize if any
hopes were answered by the interview.

If I hear back definitively I'll post.

My fave part of the interview…

I don’t think I’ve met a more gracious star than Nathan Filion. And Stana’s wonderful to work with. Her process is really, really strong. It’s a blessing to me. I’ve been in a lot of things. I’ve been around 35 years doing this. I’ve seen a lot of very smug actors and very arrogant actors and I’ve seen some genuinely beautiful actors and Nathan falls into the latter category. He’s really wonderful to work with year round. He instills a tremendous joy on the set and it’s infectious.
