New Andrew
interview!! No spoilers… but… some very interesting things, about
Bones vs Castle. I love his point of view. Makes me even more optimistic
about C&B's future [Image Can Not Be Found] :http://www.tvline.com/2011/04/…..-spoilers/
I hope it's ok that I moved this to a separate topic MissWanderer…I started commenting and realized I'd be going way off topic for the pre-24 thread.
That was interesting. I'm actually surprised that he was discussing the topic in this way. He certainly has referenced Hart Hanson and Bones quite a bit in the past; even when he's not specifically mentioning the name of the show or Hanson, it's fairly obvious what he's talking about. Well, now that he's gone on record, I'd say that Castle fans can expect Castle and Beckett to get together before season 6 ends…he's got that deadline to beat now.[Image Can Not Be Found]
I personally just hope he sticks to what he really wants to write and continues to encourage the ABC execs to trust his timetable. It's unfortunate that people are looking at shows like House and Bones for proof of success or failure in the will they/won't they game though.
Putting House and Cuddy together on House is being looked at by many as a failure (in dealing with UST) since the show's ratings are lower this season, but the ratings were on the way down before they put them together, many did not support the pairing (since there have been a number of 'ships on the show), and the show is older anyway with many more seasons than a show like Castle (and dwindling storyline potential). Not to mention the fact that the character of House is so dysfunctional.
With Bones (and I say this as a regular viewer), it is too late to put Booth and Brennan together in my opinion. The chemistry has already expired, and putting them in a relationship will not increase (or decrease) my enjoyment of the show. I watch for the stories and characters, but not for the B/B relationship. The ratings have been very strong this season due to American Idol as a lead-in, and it will be difficult to tell what effect a Booth/Brennan hook-up will have had on the audience or the success of the show due to the variables in play (including the real-life pregnancy of the actress who plays Brennan and a possible effect on next season's shooting schedule).

OfflineYou were right to move it to a separate topic dmcw. It's not really an interview about ep.24. I didn't think about that when I posted the link. [Image Can Not Be Found]
Me too, I really hope Andrew will stick to his plans. That's my only real concern. ABC will probably have doubts and a lot of concerns too. That's why Andrew will have to be very convincing and make them understand that it's time. But I'm pretty confident that he will succeed.

OfflineThanks for posting it here! I'm not following the pre-24 thread (trying to go kinda spoiler free for this one! For the first time ever!! I's been REALLY hard) so I have to spend the never ending free time between episodes with non-spoiler interviews!
Great to be reassured that Castle isn't gonna turn into Bones all over again. I mean, I never doubted TPTB, and from day one I thought that the tone, the pace and the intentions on Castle weren't the same as on Bones… but Bones once was a good series too…
I just imagine how must the reaction of Hart Hanson and the Bones crew must be once they read this stuff.. sure they still got great ratings, but they've long lost the loyal and obsessive fans…
Anyway, thanks for the post and lets all hope he sticks to his plans! (and that the network let him do the job he's proven to be great at!)

OfflineInteresting, I was surprised that he openly discussed in a disapproving way the storytelling of another show, I don't think it's usual (no matter whether he is right or wrong). I hope that the new "deadline" (I mean the before the end of 6th season) won't be played out fully…
I agree with dmcw, it will be hard to tell how much a real B/B relationship will count in the popularity of Bones (if it woud happen). Beside I have the feeling, that the real pregnacy of ED was also a factor in this decision (though we don't know whether it will be written into the story or not). In case of House I think it's a quite different question and not only because House's character is so much not a "relationship material". That show is in its 7th season, but AFAIK during the first 3 sesons there was no signs that they could be a couple. Yes, the innuendos were always present, but at first Cameron, next time Sela Ward's character was the potential SO, not Cuddy. So if we count, their relationship reached the fullfillment in 3-3,5 seasons, Castle has to hurry to catch up! [Image Can Not Be Found]
One more thing. AM said:
So I feel like I can afford to get to the point where these two
actually sleep together and have a relationship, I just don’t feel
instinctively that we’re there yet at the end of season 3.
I completely agree with the part that sleeping together after what happened during the S3 would be very soon. At the same time I hope that they won't play it like keeping them apart as long as possible and then bang, jump into bed and sleeping together. I mean hopefully "having a relationship" is not equal to AM with "sleep together". According to the Big Book of Hollywood Clichés that's the surest way to the "it seemed nice but it won't work" kind of talks a few episode later.

Wow, color me surprised. Never though I would see such direct comments. Although, it's always been pretty obvious who he's talking about in previous interviews without him ever having to say the word "Bones". And, as a long time Bone's fan who no longer watches, I gotta agree with him. If Andrew Marlowe is now actually publicly stating his opinion of the Booth and Brennan dynamic, that really speaks to me about his confidence about his plans for Castle. Why else would he put himself out there like that? I'm not sure why he would make these comments, at this time, if he was planning on waiting multiple seasons before getting Caskett into a relationship. If that were the case, he's put himself in the position of getting a lot of criticism for the pot calling the kettle black in regards to HH. So….my confidence is soaring that when the time is right, he will pull the trigger and take that leap, and it's going to be sooner rather than later. Now, I have always been confident that it's going to happen, but it's always nice to get that extra reassurance. And, we've had so much reassurance lately.

If the ratings stay the way they are, I'd like to think ABC will trust him and leave him alone to follow through on his plan. And it's a bonus that he has one at all.

OfflineWell that is a very encouraging little article. I gave up on Bones and agree the fact that AWM is so open with his comments seems to indicate he feels he is standing on steady ground. Either that or he is trying to keep the pressure on the ABC suits, like the comments in the TV Guide article. I hope it's the former.

OfflineI´m really happy that AM will not go down the same road as Hanson. Bones is a great series but as AM says, there´s a lot of quality storytelling after people begin a relationship. AM is playing out the CB relationship wonderfully but HH has waited way to long with bring B/B together (not that there are indicators they´ll finally start dating soon).

OfflineIt occurred to me today at work that Marlowe mentioned a "game changer" in the season finale of Castle and the season finale of Bones is called "The Change in the Game." Coincidence? I'm sure it is, but one never knows…Marlowe may be sending Hart Hanson a subtle message.

maybe its here is how you set up the gateway for a couple to get into a relationship?
