I just found out: Castle Season One is to air in Switzerland from 23.11.2009 on the channel SF2, so Mondays 20:45 local time.
For Germany no defined air date so far. I read that they are keeping it back because they want to air Season One and Two at one time. But knowing German television I think that was a bad joke. SO it IS said to air "season 2009 / 2010" on the channel "Kabel 1".
As soon as I know the air dates I let you know. Love

(Grüße auch zurück in die Pfalz… dann bin ich also nicht die einzige Deutsche hier ^^ )

But I have seen the first episode and thought: OMG what a strange sync voice…

it's true. but I always have to say I had some much worse dubbings ( Bones / Moonlight) so I'm quite happy and am completely used to the German voices by now. Smile

I can't get used to the german voices, stana's is the same as lynette's from desperate housewives this is too distracting ;) I prefer watching it in english.

And I'm totally gonna buy the dvd when it comes out :)

You do remind me a little..

I haven't been watching a lot of German dubbed Castle, I mostly watched the original English OV Version. But just pm me and I will try to help you.

They are still airing season 2 here. Switzerland is finished with it for some weeks. Kabel 1 is really slow.

Does anyone know if they already bought season 3? and when they will begin to show it?

I'm amazed at the international popularity of the show. The show deals a lot with American culture and I was wondering if the jokes and comments are understood by those across the pond. Can anyone chime in?

Can you give an example?

When i watch the episodes in english i don´t understand every word at the first viewing but i get an overview what the episode is about. I can watch the episode another time or just push the review button to hear it another time on most occasions i get it on the second or third try.

The german translation is not word for word, they have to look what fit in the lip movements.  But it got much better in the years and they try hard to translate what is really said.

Yeah but next week Tick Tick Tick AND Boom are airing at Kabel1. Awesome! But I don't like the german version. It's so weird to see Beckett having the same voice like Lynette from DH Crazy2

Concerning Season 3… SF2 still doesn't know when Season 3 will be available. I think they'll start in summer/fall at the earliest

For example, in episode 3x5, all the comments about "McDreamy," McSteamy,"etc. This references another doctor tv show called Greys Anatomy in which the doctors have a propensity to sleep with one another. If you haven't seen the show, the significant of it will be totally lost on you. Or the reference about Andre the Giant in 3x4 where the guy goes all Hulk Hogan on Esposito. This comment refers to American wrestling back in the 80's where Hulk Hogan battled Andre the Giant. They were really big wrestlers.

Another question, do you watch it with subtitle or is the episode dubbed in your native language?

If you know where, you can download german subtitles.

Let me give an example from episode 1x1. Castle is asking for the pictures of the copycat crime scenes and he mentioned to Beckett about it being the "criminals Cooperstown." Cooperstown in America is where our Baseball Hall of Fame is located. By acquiring those pictures, Castle can brag to the other writers about how famous and popular he and his books have become.

I see what you mean now, i don´t watch Greys Anatomy although it is aired here too. So i don´t know if they will relate to that show in the synchronisation too. The problem with mentioning special places or events is occurring in many series. And personally i think i don´t have to understand every word of an episode.

Here in germany we usually don´t watch with subtitles on TV we watch a german synchronisation with voices of german actors/actresses. Sometimes it´s a little irritating when you hear the same voice with different persons. When you buy the DVD Set you can watch with subtitles in different languages, the english original or the german synch.

Here in the forum is a topic where users added links with Castle/Beckett speaking with other voices in different languages. Take a look then you know how it´s done.

Actually I do watch Grey's Anatomy and at least McDreamy is used in german television as well. But I think it's McSexy instead of McSteamy. So this won't be a problem^^

I just watched 5 minutes of the german version of "the mistress always spanks twice" yesterday… I gave up when they translated "Sam-I-am in a box with a fox. We're gonna need popcorn." with the really lame line "OMG this is gonna be great she's gonna tear him apart, we're gonna need popcorn!"

It was especially disappointing since they translated "Sam-i-am" with "der widerspenstige" (which happens to be part of the title of the translation of Shakespeare's "the taming of the shrew") so i really don't understand why they didn't go with something like "the shrew is about to get tamed" or "the shrew is gonna tame the shrew" (in German of course)… and the voices… yeah let's just say there's a reason why I'm so amused about Kabel 1 calling Tick-tick-tick/Boom "new" episodes and leave it at that ;)

I agree with you, german translation sometimes is horrible, but for me as a non-native speaker it's better to watch it again in german because sometimes I can't understand what they say.
