halaci : So i will put the same clip in French for Esposito, Lanie and Ryan wink

I love the Hungarian voice of Montgomery, really ! i love it ! Thanks for the videos.

In French, the voice i prefer is Martha, I like her tone. and then Castle ^^ Like i said, for this show, the French version is good, we are lucky.

MissWanderer : i'm totally agree with you about Martha's and Stana's French voices =)

… in Holland they never dub movies or series, unless it's for kids. Original audio all the way! grin

You are lucky, unfortunately in Hungary channels don't dare to take this step and show the films with subtitles. Exceptions are the HBO which offers this sometimes and some smaller science channel, but not the main ones. I'm hoping that with the transitions to the digital broadcast they will offer it at least as an alternative.

I hope we will see other languages too, not just these two ones. I know it was aired in German and I think in Czech (or Slovakian?) too. How is it in Italy and Spain?

No dud movies or series in Holland oO you're lucky ! grin
So you see movies and series much soon than us ?
For exemple, in France, for a TV serie, we must wait (generally) one year before see the season which are actually aired in USA.

When DVD will be release in France, i will buy them and i will put the German and Spanish version. I can't before ^^

Yep, we're really lucky! If it weren't for the subtitles, my English wouldn't be as good as it is now (not bragging or anything, haha, just stating a fact).
AkaBlackNight, well, to be honest I don't know grin I think Castle was aired at the end of 2009, but I'm not sure. I didn't know about it til a month or 2 ago (shame on me!!!). The bastards stopped airing it Holland, tho. Something about low rating points, which is soooo not true.

Halaci, that's really too bad :( My parents are from Turkey and I occasionally watch Turkish TV and it's the same there. Most of the foreign movies and series are dubbed. Also, the percentage of English speakers is pretty low in Turkey, as opposed to Holland. I grew up hearing English all around me and I didn't really have to do anything to learn it. Coincidence? I don't think so! I guess television's not that bad grin

These are not "taylor made" clips for this post, but I found them on the YouTube:

Thanks for the links halaci! How'd you find it?!

Oh wow. Hungarian Alexis sounds like she's 10 years older than she actually is.

In my country we don't have dubbed shows, but the waiting game differs for each show. Castle is currently at 211, Criminal Minds S5 is coming in September, NCIS S7 just started, for example. The real exceptions are shows like FlashForward which is playing pretty much almost non-stop here on Fox. Annoying, really.

MissWanderer: I totally agree with your point on Martha's voice, and if you do find a name, I'd like to know. smile Beckett's voice… is different, but it's still a good interpretation of Beckett, which is why I like it. I can see why others wouldn't as well – Stana's voice is much lower.

Is it just me or do all of the dubbed men sound really really similar within each country's version and across langauges?

Oh, the things you don't know about me can fill a book.

heidigjr: Neighbour country, many people speaks Hungarian and visit Hungarian forums. I remembered that somebody once linked them, just needed the time to search the comments.

Yes, our Alexis is too old to her age, generally the women voices are worse than the male ones, maybe Martha is an exception.

Castle voice: I think the reason is that at first sight Castle is the archetype of the classic heartbreaker amoroso and that kind of character is a must in each theather, so it's not hard to find or choose from.

Thank you Carmensan for the link! I think the voices aren't bad for the characters.

Thanks to youtube hinting I have found a spanish promo too. Castle's voice – unusual, to say the least. But they had no problem with the pace of Beckett's talking. Laugh

Thanks to both of you (and welcome to the boards Carmesan)

Spanish Castle is indeed weird. and the "peh na neh na na na peh na nah ne nah!" bit is just… wrong.

o.0 I don't get the point of changing the DAD! DAD! DAD! ringtone in the German promo.

Which begs the question – when English words are shown onscreen like the text Castle sends to Beckett/Sorensen in 1x09 ("U Guys Making Out?") or the "911 Call me ASAP – Alexis" thing in 1x06, what do the producers of each country do?

Oh, the things you don't know about me can fill a book.

In this case, we have subtitles or voiceover (voix-off).

If only the text is visible it is usually told by the relevant actor (you can not see his mouth, so it's no problem that there is an extra line). If for some reasons silence has to be kept it's subtitle here too.

The same here, usually it's voiceover.
