Looks like a great studio. Very inspiring! No wonder he composes such great music. And Rob seems to be a really nice guy.

Yeah, I thought that was amazing…the non-instrument things used to create music.  I'll certainly pay a bit more attention now to the types of sounds in the music used for scenes.

His way of working is quite unique compared to the common composer these days. But he proves that getting into the creative process from the start pays off. Most others would use prefab sounds and go from there. He simply creates everything from scratch which is extremely time consuming.
He gathered a lot of instruments but I couldn't help noticing that he miked every one of them separately and that probably costs more than the instruments themselves.

If you ever meet someone called a foley artist, you'd probably have a great time talking to them because they come up with AMAZING ideas for creating sounds.  Such creative people.  For all the technology we have today, you still need a foley artist to capture some sounds that you can't record on set.  I love the things they come up with.

Speaking of Foley artists. At Castle whenever they get a weapon out of their holster you always hear the same sound. That drives me nuts! (Yeah I'm weird.)
