OfflineAlan is so hysterical! Nathan's attitude towards the autograph seekers bugged me a little, but I guess it's exhausting being hounded wherever you go. At least he didn't refuse everyone, but signed some before having to go.

OfflineI am sorry but I don't know who "ALAN" is — I'm a fairly new Nathan fan (just since "Castle", though since then I've seen a couple of movies he's done). But he didn't seem to be too pleased about the man, anyway. I think it was just taking away from Nathan's moment a little and also almost making fun of the fans and I don't think it seemed like Nathan would want that. Re: fans vs. autograph seekers — good point. When he's signing autographs a mile a minute, there's not much time for interraction, plus the fact, so many autograph seekers these days turn around and sell the autographs, so they're not really fans at all – and it's a little upsetting to the celebrity. Not like a fan gathering, Comic-Con, etc. where people care about the celebrity.

Nathan wasn't bugged by him at all. They are very good friends. They were at the event together (along with @captdope another friend and Halo gamer)
"ALAN" is Alan Tudyk, he played "Wash" in Firefly and Serenity. He also does a voice for the HALO games.
You want to see someone taking away a "moment"–watch the firefly panel from this year's DragonCon; Nathan AND Alan prank called Morena, Jewel and Sean for about 15 minutes into the Q&A part of the panel. (They got him back, though. Took a picture of the fans giving Nathan and Alan "The Bird". Think they emailed that pic right off)
ETA: Link to DragonCon panel. First two vids are teh ones with Nathan and Alan pranking the rest of the "crew"

The fact that he was asking for people's names as he was signing is an indication he was aware some of the people there were collecting autographs to sell – by putting a name on them it makes them less profitable
You know, I was just wondering how one makes sure people wouldn't profit from auctioning off a signed pic. Putting the person's name on it is smart! Good thing I'm not famous. I never would have thought of doing that.

OfflineThat's how my husband knows people are going to sell or try to sell autographs — it doesn't eliminate the possibility but it does make it less profitable. Thanks for the info about Alan. And I see that he and Nathan have a mutual thing about pranks. I learn something all the time here. Sometimes I feel sort of left out or that I'm in the wrong place on this board because so many of you have so much more knowledge about Nathan, Firefly, etc., but I'm trying to get caught up. At least we all love Castle and have that in common!
