OfflineNathan looked great!
I was also disappointed in the only one viewer question. I wish the live audience was nearby….love hearing the crowd cheer for him.
However, maybe it is good they toned it down with all the unfortunate stuff that happened yesterday in NYC. It was hard for me to watch the interview with the news running at the bottom of the TV screen regarding the tornado.

Couple of comments.
First, he's such a personable, gracious, nice guy, what a nice interview.
This is the second time I've heard his stand on the "will they, won't they" stated as his opinion or as a difference in opinions. Is an effort being made to make a distinction between his opinion and the opinion of the show runners, so that we know the TPTB don't feel the same way? Is he trying to take it down a notch? Is his stand on the matter softening a little? I can't decide what to make of it.
Lastly, I have to disagree with Nathan. I don't like to see people fail over and over again. I like to see them try, and try, and try again until they get what they want. To never give up. The struggle isn't worth it if you don't get the payoff.

Thank you for the link Leftfield!
I think he stresses that this is his opinion because of three reasons:
a) he really believes this curse and really think that it is not for the benefit of the show if the main couple is together,
b) other interviews from decisive staff members indicates that in this question the show will not go on his way
c) previously his remarks about the relationship were never countered but now they are and he doesn't want to imply that there are any cracks in the team.
I very much hope that when the script will bring them together – hopefully in this year but in this season anyhow – the ratings will show that his fears had no ground and he will also be convinced. The reason of his fears can be that previously there were two options: will they or won't they. I think in Castle the writers will cut the gordian knot and their answer is "they will if they want". Previously the staging was like this: hiding the feelings – confessing love – happy together, so there was one definite turning point.
In Castle I feel a different approach, mainly from Andrew Marlowe's recent interviews: hiding the feelings – admitting them – working on to make it possible. There are not one turning point, more like a series of checkpoints on a marathon race. In this way the audience can invest emotionally into the show with the certainity of the payoff.
I agree with you Leftfield: failing is only cathartic if you try again and than you win. Two different people meet, fall in love but realize that they are different and part – that's a cliché what most shows follow. Two different people meet, fall in love, realize that they are different, but feel their love worthy to try to change – that's something new.

OfflineLeftfield, thanks for the link! Now I don't have to search for the segment on the DVR.
As usual, I personally disagree with Nathan's perspective on the will they/won't they, but it was nice to see him make it very clear- a couple times- that it is his personal opinion. It was interesting to hear him describe that yearning for the characters to be together as a sense that you know what's best for the characters. I hadn't really thought of it that way before. I wouldn't be surprised if the cast and crew have been encouraged to state answers on that particular subject clearly as opinion to avoid some negative comments from viewers.
Ahhh! I didn't want to see the start of that interrogation scene! I couldn't pause fast enough. Three days can't pass quickly enough!
It's too bad there wasn't more time for viewer questions, but it was a nice interview as usual. It's always nice to watch and listen to Nathan…he's charming.

OfflineI was dismayed to hear Nathan talk about how he thinks viewers will stop watching once Castle & Beckett get together, but I agree with everyone else – it was interesting to hear him say that it's only his opinion. I suspect TPTB got to him after the interview with him and Stana where they disagreed, and suggested that he soften his position a little to show that everyone's still on the same team, so to speak. Not that I think it'll cause any kind of rift, but TPTB are concerned about perception, I'm sure.
Personally, I do agree with Nathan in that it's refreshing to see TV show characters who aren't perfect – who screw up sometimes and where things don't end mice and tidily when the hour or season ends. I like seeing the obstacles put in their way and how they get past them. It's painful for us fans, but that's life really. Relationships aren't always easy. Of course, the flip side is that if you put too many obstacles in the characters' paths it becomes tiresome and ridiculous (like some have said Bones has become, I don't watch that show, so I'm just going by what others have posted here). So there's a happy medium that has to be struck. I think so far, the producers, writers, etc. have done well with that on Castle.

OfflineLoved the clip – thanks for posting it! He looked great. I still disagree about bringing Castle and Beckett together, but I kind of understand what he was saying. I didn't get so much that he likes to see people fail, as the fact that audiences like to feel they know what's going on better than the characters do. I've watched shows where that's true – where there's a murder and you want to scream at the tv set "It's him! Be careful!" etc. So maybe Nathan feels that viewers want to feel they know Castle and Beckett better than they themselves do. But after awhile? We need something!

OfflineI'm sure that after the ComicCon interview he gave Aussiello, tptb had a firm chat with him. he was so emphatic and absolute in stating his opinion about that blasted moonlighting curse, there was a tremendous backlash on the ABC boards. They immediately released another spoiler about Alexis and her boyfriend to give it a boost. There were some really unhappy fans. I don't know what it was like around here though.

OfflineWhat I think is sad is that Fillion seems to be assumming that we're all only invested in getting C/B together and nothing more. IMHO, he couldn't be further from the truth! I know I'm super interested in seeing how Kate and Rick are together. What will they be like? Will they try and keep it a secret from the precinct? What will it be like after the first time they "make love"? I know after my first time with my husband, we couldn't keep our hands off each other. Can you imagine the scenes at the precinct if they are trying to keep it a secret?
There's also the fact that Kate's small social circle will open up in a HUGE way when she's together with Rick, I'm curious to see her in that world. Will they end up stumbling upon some murders (in a "Hart to Hart", "Murder She Wrote"kind of way)?
Then there's Rick. Will he become (as I predict) more protective of Kate, balking at the possibility of her having to go undercover in a skimpy outfit (whereas before they got together he would have been all for THAT)?
There are a lot of ways and places to take the characters that would keep the fun, keep the sexy banter and keep the tension long after they finally "do the deed"!
Come on, Fillion (and producers and writers)! I'm invested in the characters, not the "will they/won't they" plot point!

OfflineGreat comments! It's so true – there are so many things to find out after a relationship starts — I think it's immature to think that a relationship is over once you admit there's a relationship. I thought that, too, when I was about 12. Nothing more to add – maryc, your comments were brilliant, in my opinion.
