OfflineWell I got Nathan's movie Water's Edge from Amazon last week and well…he's about the only decent thing in it.
It was OK and lots of lovely shirtless Nathan shots and I didn't see the end coming. It was filmed in Canada, very pretty area.
Has anyone else seen it? What did you think?

OfflineI have not seen it. Showtime keeps suggesting that I watch Trucker though… Everyday I yell at it and tell it I'm not interested!
Thanks for the review!

I am a fan from Firefly and Serenity and, Castle, of course. So, when I started watching some of Nathan’s other work, I was disappointed at first because I wanted to see ‘Mal’ again. I found that I need to watch some of his other work a couple of times before I can appreciate the character he is portraying.
I purchased Water’s Edge a while ago ( actually, I’ve bought almost all of Nathan’s work now…at least what I can find that is published).
As I mentioned, the first time I watched it, I was disappointed, I wanted Mal…anyway, I’ve watched it 3-4 times now and there are a couple of scenes that I really like…not counting the shirtless scenes, because we all know we like those!
• Nathan’s character, ‘Robert’, and his wife are at dinner and he makes a joke to get her to laugh, which she ignores…I loved his expression and how he responded to her then. I’ll watch the movie just to see Nathan’s subtle acting in this scene, which I love and which he does so well!
• Robert goes into town the first time for an auction and is confronted by a man. Nathan again handles this scene well…he reminds me of Mal here. Remember the scene with ‘Badger’ from the ‘Serenity’ pilot episode where Mal is being talked down to and insulted? The scene in this movie is similar.

As I mentioned above re: Water’s Edge, I’m a Firefly/Serenity fan. So, when I started watching some of Nathan’s other work, including Castle, I was disappointed at first because I wanted to see Nathan play ‘Mal’ again.
I think Trucker is a much better movie than Water’s Edge and Nathan gives a really great performance in it. I’ve seen it at the theater, rented it and watched it about three times and then bought it from Amazon.
When I saw it at the theater, I liked it but didn’t like the main character, ‘Diane’. I wasn’t sympathetic to her and, ‘Runner’ (Nathan’s character) isn’t ‘Mal’, but he is a sweet guy.
The more I see this movie the more I like it. I didn’t know if I wanted to buy it, so I rented it. My husband & I watched it and he really liked it. Then, the next day, while doing things around the house, I watched it about 2-3 more times. I have to say, it is now one of my favorites of Nathan’s work.
I know the drunk scene is funny, but Nathan’s scenes with ‘Diane’s’ son are really great and I loved how sweet he was when they went dancing. He was great in the make out scene (yes, for the obvious reasons) but really great when he said “Diane I’m sorry”.
I even like the character of ‘Diane’ much better than I did. Of course, Jimmy Bennett (Star Trek), who plays her son is fantastic in this.
On the whole, I loved Nathan’s performance in this movie…each scene of his has a lot more to notice than can be appreciated in one viewing, in my opinion. BTW, Trucker was named one of the Top 10 independent Films of 2009 by Roger Ebert (Chicago).

OfflineI, too would encourage people to give Trucker a look. I originally dismissed it as 'not my type of picture' but finally gave in and rented it over the long holiday break when there were no new episodes. I watched it 3 times and, soon after, ordered myself a copy. Because it's such a contrast to the other roles he has played, it really shows what a great actor Nathan is.
