Just wanted to say how much I enjoy Seamus Dever's deft playing of Det. Ryan.

Among other things seemingly tossed off I recall his in-depth knowledge of the vampire culture, " honeymilk", the 2-week anniversary tie, his infatuation with (or desperate need for ) the get-rich-quick schemes of Johnny Vong….

his whole half-knowing, half-naive innocent demeanor(in a cop) is very endearing.

It's a role that's well-written and quite well-played.

I'd lke to see one of his fabled girlfriends at some point. Or is it the same girl?

At the risk of being accused of disloyalty, Ryan is actually my favorite character. I'm a total Fillion groupie (Waitress, Firefly, and Castle on my IPod), but Seamus' facial expressions just crack me up-especially when you pair him with Esposito and their batting the " knowing look" back and forth. Beckett I think picks up on these, but Castle's oblivious. Way too funny! Laugh

I was actually thinking about Seasmus' portrayal of Ryan on the way home tonight. He does have excellent facial expressions and I love how he's the Sonny to Esposito's Cher – the butt of everyone's jokes, the "new guy", the boob, etc. Yet, everyone there knows he's got your back, just like how he immediately defended Esposito in this past week's episode. He didn't even bat an eye when the IA guy was accussing Esposito of maybe being dirty, and came to his defense. And his relationship with Jenny is soo sweet! Guys, take a lesson – you don't have to be the macho type to get the pretty, sweet girl! Laugh

Oh heck yeah! I'll jump on this band wagon! Ryan is the best. He's just so darn cute and funny. And Seamus does do an absolutely fantastic job with him! Love2 And I, like everyone else, can't wait for more Ryan backstory.

Here's one of my favorite Det. Ryan moments just for fun:

Beckett: "Yeah well, never underestimate the fragility of the male ego."

Ryan: "Oh see? That's just a stereotype!"

Castle: "Don't! Don't. That's…she's baiting us. Alright? Just ignore her, she'll lose her witchy powers."

Beckett: "You wish. Alright, let's go off to Parker's office."

She looks around for her "broom" and gets Castle good.

Castle: "Oh haha! See? I was lookin'"

Ryan: "For the record I did not."

HAHAHA! Gotta love Ryan! Bounce

I'd love to see that. great idea. and hopefully there would be a fair amount of Beckett & Castle looking at each other longingly and thinking about the direction of their lives. ooooh, this is definitely gonna inspire some fan fiction!

even if i'm a male and deeply stanatic, I think ryan is a good character. And I think his character can surely grow more.

"Suspect refuses to cooperate" is a good line, but I loved when ryan and esposito set the wallpaper of KB computer with the tennis ad and when beckett asks he says "we're detectives" and licks the tip of his pencil. His face expression in so upsetting! And the act of licking the tip of the pencil is something I didn't see from my childhood.
