As I first teased earlier this month, Castle is introducing a new love interest for Beckett later this season. Well, I now have the deets on said role…

Yeah, I hope they'll wrap it up before the end of the season too. The only romantic cliffhanger they can let me hanging on is between Castle and Beckett.
Not between Beckett and a mid-30s a attractive and charismatic, NYPD cop in the homicide division. I am curious about who's going to play the role though. Because I hope he'll be nothing like Will, because well… His head was almost really like a square. I thought he looked kind of weird.
But I guess we'll just have to wait… Too bad I hate waiting.

Hmm, I just realized… if it's a four episode arc and Beckett's got a new love interest who will leave after that… She must need some comforting, I mean I would be pretty bummed if my love interest lust left after a couple of weeks.

And I know just the guy who can cheer Beckett up

Poor Castle. I wonder how he deals with seeing Kate with another man.

This is going to kill him. I think that Castle will take a step back. I think this will give him a chance to ponder about how he feels about Kate and then decide if he will just be a friend to her or pursue her. But this is also a great chance for her to maybe see how she truly feels for Castle once he does take a step back, if that's the route Castle takes.

I just hope that in this arc, she realizes that Castle might be a 12 year old child on a sugar rush but he means well and that he will do anything for her.

Looks like they have not found the actor to play this character yet, filming ends in April, so I'm assuming that he will be in the last four episodes thus maybe bring us to another cliff hanger.

I only hope she dates the guy but doesn't sleep with him. I just don't see Kate as the type to just jump into bed.

Actors I have in mind to play this NYPH homicide detective:

- Damien Lewis (Cuz I just LOVE him)
- Colin Ferguson (if he sin't filming "Eureka")
- Eric Close
- Craig Bierko
- Nicholas Bishop

I think this is also a great opportunity to bring up the question "Does he really need to still be shadowing her?" It's a question that both Kate and Castle need to think about and also be addressed. Where does castle really fit into her life? This love interest of Kate will surely question Castle's presence in her life and his motives. Hmmm.

Maybe the point of making him a cop ties into what some people on the board have mentioned…Kate finding someone who is like Castle, but there's still something missing. If this new guy is charismatic, attractive, and has the job in common with her (maybe even approaches cases in a more logical sense like her), it should all work out right? And maybe he even has less baggage than Castle, but still he isn't Castle. Maybe it's the push she needs to recognize her feelings.

Still, I'm not so happy that the guy is someone who might be hanging around a lot for 4 eps since he is at her workplace.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I'm looking forward to some new love interest for Beckett. So far Castle has made no serious move for Beckett, flirted with any female around, used every opportunity to talk bad about marriage and ex-wives. Although he's fun and a great guy, he's not really serious boyfriend material (from what he has shown of himself to Beckett). And although Beckett's started to flirt back, my guess is she's still serious when it comes to boyfriends and marriage. So unless something changes, there will be no progress in their relationship.

Now, as far as we know, Beckett spends a lot of her time at work, so it's only logical that a potential love interest would be a colleague. And a new guy being transferred from somewhere else, can be smart, good-looking, without baggage, ready to work with her at her level, and just an all round great guy who just hasn't met the right girl yet. I don't want him to be a baddie. I want her to let him go after a while, because even though he's great, he's just not… And if they are still on friendly terms, he can be brought back now and then to keep Castle on his toes.

Castle's attention is always all over the place, not that Beckett is consciously competing for it, but she's never sure she has it – every now and then he's just gone off somewhere. And now Castle even knows that Beckett likes to have him around. Too much power. Must be evened out. We saw in The Third Man that he reacted to her having a date. Looking forward to him seeing that he's not the center of her universe. He needs some competition if he's ever going to have a reason to change his bachelor ways. The flirty friendship is just too comfortable a place to be in. But if she has less time for him because she's starting to show interest in someone else…

We're just in season 2. I'm in no hurry.

I'm with you Unniw! I am actually at this point looking forward to Beckett gettting a love interest!I certainly wasn't at that point to begin with though..

The fact that he is a cop? doesn't shock me one bit. I have always felt that the way to Beckett's heart will be through the job – that's just Beckett.. and.. which in the longterm – bodes well for Castle too!!

Although this love interest is an NYPD cop in the homicide division, that doesn't mean they work along side each other though right? i mean he could be stationed at another precinct couldn't he? or even outside manhattan.. who knows.. he could work for West Chester police couldn't he???!!! (Maybe Buffalo??!!;)) hmm not sure.. anyway I am looking forward to seeing how all this pans out!

It is crazy to be thinking it – when the character hasn't even been introduced yet-but I wonder who will break it off? I kinda hope it is the guy!!! hehehee..If only so Castle can't say to Beckett she doesn't know what it is like to be rejected anymore – so he can get off his butt and do something!! ya know???

I hope they go for the new character to be one of either two extremes..
1) he is a really nice guy – absolutely nothing wrong with him, but he just isn't Castle! or…
2) he is evil – but has been charming everyone… and he plants some seeds of doubt and conflict between Beckett and Castle without their realising it.. Castle seeing what this man is..(but worries jealousy is clouding his judgement) and Beckett – resenting Castle's interference, is even more determined to date this guy and prove him wrong! then.. somehow being the smart detective she is.. she starts to see through his lies.. and that Castle is the guy she knows and trusts.. and she breaks it off.. (Moby- your idea of him 'falling under a bus' ? sounds like it would fit well here!! ;) Or!! what if he suddenly ends up dead- and everyone at the precinct is a suspect????? whoooooo!!!!

…..of course we could then have the lovely lets have a drink or two too many .. and a drunken kiss.. and season ending!! it's fun to imagine isn't it??!!!

I wonder if any of this ties in with the big double episode.. or.. the release of the new Nikki Heat book at all.. hmmm..

Castle is my favorite show but if they screw it up, I am out after this season. If these 4 eps (really 4 whole eps!) do not absolutely and completely advance B/C I will not be back for S3. I don't have time for this. As soon as I saw this spoiler I was very upset.

How do you go from Sucker Punch and Third Man to a KB dating someone else? Everyone keeps saying the writers have 'a plan'. Whatever. It sounds like their plan is to string us romantic suckers along for a couple more seasons. I hope I am wrong, but I tend to doubt it.

Not giving up, but we will see what the next 9 bring.

I have to say that I'm not really excited about Beckett getting a new love interest either. I agree with earlier post that I hope this relationship is resolved by the end of the season and not carried over to the 3rd (as soon as we get official word on season 3). I can see how Beckett and Castle would both attract other people, but I just don't want to see the writers make these other relationships too serious.

I don't have a problem with this either. I know it's easy to groan because every other show has done this and if not done right it can hurt a show. I have so much faith in these writers to do it right and put their own stamp on what's already been done many times.

We don't know the events that lead up to this new love interest. While we've seen lots of progress between Castle and Beckett it's been mostly flirting and gaining trust. It's a step in the right direction but we haven't seen any seriousness from either one. While it's probably not necessary to use this strategy it could be the very thing that pushes Beckett and Castle together.

While the spoiler says he's attractive and charismatic it doesn't necessarily mean he'll be a good guy. Stana has mentioned we'll get more info on her mother's killer though the case probably won't be solved. Could he be a dirty cop keeping tabs on her or something like that?

This is dismaying to hear, but I have to say I think Beckett deserves some happiness. So I say work it girl and make Castle jealous! Anything to help the two of them realize that they should be with each other.

Ooh, the possibilities of who this guy is are certainly many as others have mentioned. Here's another one I just thought of – he's just flirting with her to get to Castle because he's gay! Not likely to happen, I know, but fun to envision.

And by the way, if it turns out to be Dean Cain, as some posters on the article's website have suggested, I would absolutely die! That would be way too much attractiveness to behold on one screen! Sorry, but I have had a huge crush on him since Lois & Clark.
