I guess I'm in the minority, but I'm looking forward to some new love interest for Beckett. So far Castle has made no serious move for Beckett, flirted with any female around, used every opportunity to talk bad about marriage and ex-wives. Although he's fun and a great guy, he's not really serious boyfriend material (from what he has shown of himself to Beckett). And although Beckett's started to flirt back, my guess is she's still serious when it comes to boyfriends and marriage. So unless something changes, there will be no progress in their relationship.
Completely agree, especially on the bolded part. While she may have openly admitted to enjoying having him around (I'm still a little shocked the writers took her to that point so soon, actually) there's a big difference between that and having serious romantic feelings for him that would overcome any (justifiable) doubts she would have about the seriousness of his attentions towards her in terms of a long-term relationship. He's getting there, and Sucker Punch was a huge step in the right direction, but still… She (and the audience, for that matter) needs to find out more about why he married his second wife, in particular, and why he never had a Kyra-like relationship again.
I also really, really hope they don't have Castle acting too possessive and whiny if her focus isn't on him because of the new interest. What I've loved about how the writers have written the Other Love Interests (Will & Kyra) is that Castle and Beckett's responses to them have been, by TV standards, largely adult and mature. And, more importantly, we've learnt a lot about Castle and Beckett's characters during those sorts of episodes. It's a plot device, but one they've worked with well so far…

OfflineI guess i'm the odd man out because I am not looking forward to Beckett having a romantic interest other than Castle.I am emotionally invested in their relationship and wanted to see some advancement in that relationship.I am one of the last of the true romantics(romantic sucker I guess)on this forum and am rooting for a Castle/Beckett hook up.I feel I could write shows for years with them romanticly involved.I do not need another cop having her emotions all stired up. Will screwed her up bad enough. Is this tit for tat?Castle has two ex's and a child. Will Beckett have two ex's and be pregnant at seasons end? I hope not.All the fanfiction and Castle videos seem to suggest that many others feel like I do. The C/B chemistry is so very strong it has carried the show. Clever murder plots aside,I would not watch this show w/o that chemistry.
I had hoped for a Castle Beckett kiss at least this season.I did not expect to have to see her drapped all over another cop and vise versa. I am disappointed that I will have to see another man getting what lots of us want Castle to have.I understand about him not stepping up and making a commitment to Beckett when she opened the door but as I see it that's what writers are for.
I'm a big boy and will get over it but I can't help but feel a little bitter over this plot twist. We will see what we will see. Feel free to throw me under the bus.

OfflineI don't see the writers using this as a gimmick just to keep Castle and Beckett apart.
The show is full of foreshadowing. Even the smallest of details early on can come back with bigger meaning. Too much of what we see or hear has far greater meaning than what's on the surface. I'm of the belief that this new love interest is going to serve a purpose of some sort that goes beyond the obvious.

OfflineI guess its about time she had a love interest…I'd like to see Castle get really jealous, having this guy around for a few episodes will really get Castle jealous! I wonder who they'll choose as the actor, and who's gonna break up with who! EXCITED!

I am a newbie, so bear with me please.I have been reading the posts a long time but it is time to take the plunge. I am wondering how the writers will introduce the new love interest? Was it something that Castle did or did not do for Beckett. Does something happen during the two-part episode that will cause the new man in her life? What will the other two women in his life, Alexis and Martha (both who adore Kate) think about this new relationship?

OfflineAfter re-reading the older posts about the new love interest I can feel a great disturbance in the force. An uneasiness is arising.I can see a mob carrying torches and pitchforks marching on the castle, if this 4 part arc is not handle right. Another question I have when is Beckett going to call Castle by his first name? Will that be a new phase in their relationship?

OnlinePartly because I just finished watching the Heart of Gold episode of Firefly, where Inara's friend (can't remember her name) became Mal's lover the night before the big shoot-out. Then she was killed in the gun-fight.
Yes, there is a point to my ramblings. What are the chances that Castle's writers will find it expedient to kill off this new love interest after his arc is over, especially if they become intimate? Is that the usual fate of the expendable/temporary love interest in Hollywood? Your thoughts?

OfflineUhh… MobyDick? Odds that it's a sure bet that Beckett's new boy will do nothing but further the Castle/Beckett ship. Just slow down and enjoy the twists and turns – the show would be boring if it was linear. And, yes, I am a hopeless romantic myself – that's why I enjoy the dating other people and then realising that they're not the one you really want (but can't/won't admit) trope.
The show IS a romantic dramedy – they're not going to break up Beckett and Castle.
As for the boyfriend trope itself… I trust the writers to pull it off with great aplomb. They haven't gone wrong thus so far, so why are some of you guys doubting them?
EDIT: Death of the boyfriend/suitor certainly was Sam's curse on SG-1. Scully's met interesting ends as well… Brennan's have normal endings (well, they don't die/nearly die/are murderers) and… uh… that's all I can think of right now.

OnlineI remember from an interview or chat with a writer or producer that they had planned a longer, cool storyline for Will, but they had to abandon that line when the actor who played Will became unavailable. Maybe they are reinventing that story is a new form with a new actor.

My guess is Beckett and the guy will hook up and castle will want to know have they had sex yet and she won't tell him and he will keep asking.
Sounds likely to me. Bet that Kate doesn't "kiss and tell."

I really think that Beckett is fundamentally a very private person. Ryan or Esposito alluded to that in an earlier episode.
