I think the 'real' behind the scenes was supposed to be taken literally. That cart deal is 'behind the scenes' and doesn't give any actual insight into the show.

BigSis, thanks for the tidbit! Do you know why they do that? Seems a little odd, you'd think they'd film all day, fitting night scenes within that day since night does usually follow day :P Fascinating stuff.

Pretty much. There’s a union mandated rest period between shoots. Because they can’t shorten the downtime, If shoots go overlong (very common) then they have to start later the following day, which pushes the schedule later.

Shooting in the summer is difficult, to boot.  Nathan noted on twitter:

And that was something I hadn't even considered.  In the old days, they used to "day for night" filming which never looked realistic, imo, but these days they can shoot at night.  Except in summer, when night comes much later. (cast and crew is probably very thankful they are not filming up in the Northwest.  Sundown is really late up there these days.)

They're still much better off down in LA then up here in Edmonton… They have sunrise just before 6 and sunset just after 8. Here our sunrise is at just before 5:30 and sunset is almost 10pm.

Of course the days up here are going to get much shorter really fast and in the winter unless they pretty much want to shoot all evening/night shots, it wouldn't be worth it to shoot up here. In December our sunrise will approach 9am and sunset around 4:30.

OMG, I can't believe she told us there is going to be a murder during the first episode!  Way to ruin it for everybody, Stana.  By the way, she is looking very sun-kissed in this clip.  Better ditch all those coats and make it summer in NYC.

That is so damn perceptive haha.

I love that her hair is longer, it looks fabulous and I can't wait to see how they 'work with it' in the upcoming season.

What's so odd about the way she says it? I'm curious because I'm convinced that the 'Canadian vs. American accent' thing is a myth :P
