I think you should bring it up and let it play (even if it's muted!) for those of us who can't see it :(

That's usually what I do. I open it in a seperate window and just let it play. Occasionally thought my windows will all close and then I'll see it and be sucked in. It's a force that can't be stopped.

Really, lilmac?  I thought you were a Jedi. Wink

davidsmom said:Funny so many of us noticed the elevator scene.  That's what I love about the show – so many subtle but fascinating moments that say so much!  I also thought the fact that they arrived at the crime scene in separate cars was interesting – I remember them in the same car so much last season…but this time, there was that distance between them.  And then Beckett saying, "We're still mad at him…" to the lady up the tree — who was she?  I forget the character's name.  Anyway, so many great moments.  It seemed so obvious to me in this episode that Castle, particularly, cares about Beckett.  He's so upset by her not forgiving him.  And he was so pleased to apologize to her and for her to say "See you tomorrow."  I think he's crazy about her but can't get things moving further…and she's afraid to take things further, too.  I'll bet if I watched the episode again (and I will, since I taped it) there would be even more little moments to cherish.  Great show – let's just help keep it on the air!

davidsmom you must have been a cheerleader!  Every day you inspire me to write someone to keep this great program on the air.  If I had a sports team, I would pick you first.

So funny, because I was not at all a cheerleader…and you'd have been sorry if you'd picked me for a sports team!  I was busy with music and writing and rotten at sports!  But — I am a Castle cheerleader now, in the sense of encouraging everyone to keep the show on the air (or at least doing our part), so I'll take your comments as a compliment!  Thanks!

I think overall the episode was done quite well. I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but I was happy to see that Beckett isn't taking forever to forgive Castle simply because their banter and relationship needs to get back to the same groove that it was before- I don't think she has completely forgotten nor forgiven him just yet.

And where the heck is Sorenson? How much time has passed between season 1 finale and premiere of Season 2? Does anyone know

Hi all,

Gotta say I was a bit perplexed by the quick shunt up the relationship time line between Castle ‘n Beckett. It was almost like I’d dipped out on a few episodes of the show because last time I watched [Episode 110] Castle had only broached the topic with Beckett and not told her of the “Clark Murray” involvement in her mum’s case.

At my age I understand “spilt milk” but the ONLY thing this show has going for it is the relationship between the two. If the writers get lazy, or board, then so will the viewers and I’d recommend slowing down a bit or else find a new show to work on.

Recap Ep.110

at the start

In his loft, Castle sits across from Clark Murray, a top forensic pathologist. Castle is showing Murray morgue photos of a stabbing victim — Beckett’s mother, Johanna. Even though the case has been cold ten years, Castle is hoping Murray will find some vital clue that had been previously missed. Murray reminds Castle that the odds of finding a killer after ten years are astronomical.

and about halfway in

On their way to Leeds’s office, Castle asks Beckett whether she’s ever given thought to re-opening her mother’s case. Beckett warns Castle that if he touches her mother’s case, then their partnership is over. It took her a year of therapy for Beckett to realize that if she didn’t let the case go, it would destroy her.

And at the end

Afterwards, Castle stands looking out the window. Martha insists he tell Beckett about the new findings. The information could lead to her mother’s killer. Castle tells Martha that Beckett swore they’d be through if he ever opened the file. But Martha insists that Beckett needs to know.

At the hospital, Beckett sits bedside next to Sorenson. They’re joking and sharing a rainbow sprinkle doughnut. Just then, Castle shows up, asks to speak with Beckett. Out in the corridor, she notices Castle’s seriousness and asks if something’s wrong. “It’s about your mother,” he responds. And off Beckett’s look, we end the season.

Ep.201

While Castle tries to get back in Beckett’s good graces……………………………..

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I’m thinking there’s a big jump in the relationship than what was covered over with Beckett’s new “MILF” hair do and titillating strip behind the van door.

If the glimpse of Beckett’s underwear or smutty talk to the two stereotypical door guards on the staircase are where we are being taken then this show is heading for the bin I’m sorry to say [after all we are not talking about a strong story line anymore…].

Just my two cents worth,

Steve C.

We need to keep in mind that a couple of months have passed between the end of season 1 and the start of season 2, so it's not like a week later they were instantly friends again.

On your second point – I'd personally be really surpised if Castle went down that road, but I guess the next few episodes will tell.

Thanks for getting back about this [Fencingalways good fun].

This event in Beckett's life has been the driving force [including some mental issues requiring professional help] behind her “need” to be in the job, up till now, and it gets glossed over with a rye smile at the end of 201 after a platitude apology from Castle? I got the image that she was more damaged than this and healing was not something she did this quick. He's a lovable, air-headed, rogue living an almost vacuous existence until he met her……………………………………………………….

All I’m saying is from OUR view there is a rapid arrival that looks like some very big issues have been glossed over. Let’s face it if you can get your woman to talk, you are halfway home from the dog house. After that you just let her vent for a while about how wrong you have been LOL.

Give me some meat and not a soufflé to escape the life of a pleb, LOL.

Shows that have good longevity have a strong continuity in the main characters and they develop very little over time.

I'm not wishing ill on the show and I hope that the relationship with the public can be maintained so as to generate many episodes of successful viewing. I love the idea behind Castle and it is refreshing to see such a strong female role as Beckett’s on TV. Well done to everyone on the show.

I love this episode it's so good

My favorites scenes are :

- at the beginning during the Cosmo photoshop and Beckett's interview

- at the station after the steal of dead body with all the team who defends castle somehow

Castle : deal, prefer warming detective I will make change your mind
Beckett : I won't
Castle   : you will

So there's this article called: Ten Psychology Studies from 2009 Worth Knowing About (link: http://trueslant.com/daviddisa…..ing-about/ ) and number eight reminds me of this episode:

8. Turns out, saying you’re sorry really is important—and not just to you. A study discussed at the Child Psychology Research Blog found that receiving an apology makes the recipient feel better by affecting his or her perception of the wrongdoer’s emotions. In other words, people who received an apology felt better afterward because the apology indicated that the other person felt bad about what he or she did. Sounds simple enough, but the researchers think it goes a bit deeper: knowing that the other person agrees that what he/she did was the wrong thing to do reaffirms our view of the world as just and predictable, since the other’s sadness tells us that people in general don’t do things like this. Whether that explanation is true or not, just suck it up and say you’re sorry.

Becklers do it with the beckle on.

Have to agree with this. I personally thought that the reconciliation between the two was a bit rushed  (all done in one episode, Castle's efforts could have been drawn out a bit longer for more 'special moments', i.e. the elevator scene, etc.) but I do appreciate that this is how the writers decided Castle would reconcile with Beckett.

Firstly, Castle's character goes through a humbling realization: that yes, he can do whatever he wants, i.e. poke into Beckett's history without her permission, but justifying it doesn't make it right. And secondly, that little apology shows us that Beckett knows that she needs Castle around, but more importantly, that she has (now) given him permission to get a little closer to her. Sigh Love lots of underlying meaning to that apology, I thought, and loved that it was all underplayed. Keep at it Castle folk!

Ok, weird to quote and reply to myself, but anyway, after replaying that scene with Beckett telling Castle that it really is over between them,    I need to jump in and say it yet again — Nathan and Stana and Castle writers ROCK!

Tha acting was SUPERB — sudden change of mood, subtle facial expressions and body language, the damn tension and heartache — whew!! Watching it again, you can really see that Nathan and Stana totally get their characters. And writing that scene — hard to do! As someone who has been in a very, very similar situation, they got what that's like completely spot on.

Of course, the apology scene was, at best, ideal, but hey, it's fiction! Yey for speedy recoveries!! Bounce2

To me, it just shows how much heart Castle has and that Beckett isn't as hard-hearted or as much of a toughie as she projects.  Deep down, she's just a young girl who misses her mom.
