Casting call has been posted today.
Not much info, I know, but reading the character bios, you sort of get some ideas.
For instance, a possible recurring role for a certain 40-something year-old male detective identified only as “Detective Karpinski” who works at Beckett's precinct.
Hmmm…
PS: I love the description for this stoner one: “[MESSIANIC LOOKING GUY]“.

Hmm… a recurring M.E. guest star? What about Lanie? I hope they didn't drop her from the cast.

I don't think they did because Tamala Jones is still on the cast list for the second season. It's possible that she couldn't attend a full taping so they had to bring in someone else so the show would still flow.

Yeah, or what if they added him in there for comic relief or to add depth to Tamala's character or something? A medical examiner that looks like a corpse himself sounds kinda funny.

Or to give her more time on screen. They did something like that with Abby on NCIS. She was only on screen for a few minutes every now and then so they gave a an assistant so she could have conversations with him.

Maybe the cadaver man comes in as the head M.E? I got the impression that she's pretty well respected and knows what she's doing, but the old guy could be the head honcho…
I'd like to see more screen time between Parish and Beckett, that friendship needs exploring :)

Umm, doesn't anyone else think the other M.E. is the one who did the autopsy on Johanna Beckett? OOOooo…..I so want Dr. Parish to validate his incompetence.

You bring up a good point. I would have originally thought he'd be in the first or second episode, but having him almost midway through the season would just drag out the suspense a liiiiitle bit more. Good call on that, I second that idea haha.

Valid point and if that's the case I hope everyone gangs up and him. But with that also being said, I'm kind of disappointed that they are going to drag out the Beckett case to the fourth episode. At least though we'll get some solid evidence.

That is assuming that they air the episodes in order.

True this past season's episodes got messed up in their order. Maybe they do that so the actors don't know what's really happening.

Whoa, I guess I'm not that huge a fan since I don't know that, lol. Which episodes were aired out of order?
/EDIT: And great call, Boston Scientist. I'm really liking that idea. :D

Really, lilmac? I'm hoping the J. Beckett case is a season-long thing. Considering the fact that Detective Beckett has spent years mulling over her mom's case, it would make her look kinda stupid if they figured it all out in the first few episodes. Plus, I wanna see Stana play this out. If they give her the right stuff, she'll easily get the emmy nom. Don't waste it.

Well I'm on the fence. I don't want the case to be solved in two episodes but I don't want it to take too long to solve. Beckett deserves some justice.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe Hell Hath No Fury was supposed to be the second episode. I don't know really how I'd feel seeing it there but I like the way the episodes aired.

I hope they 'drag it out' for all the points mentioned above, but also because it's such a central part of what makes Beckett who she is. If the crime was solved in an episode (heck, even four!) it would, like Boston Scientist said, undermine her intelligence and also seem too wham-bam-done, emotional resolution served in an hour.
If anything, I think that some headway should be made by the end of this upcoming season so we'd be left with some sort of cliffhanger detail about the case that would do the 'trauma' justice. I don't want to see it solved yet, if it's so complicated that one of the best in the city couldn't figure it out (though her perspective may be skewed by the family connection), it would be foolish to have it solved, as a cold case, within a few days.

I just think it would kill the show if a.) Beckett and Castle hooked up all of a sudden, and b.) if Beckett's mom's murder was solved within a few episodes.

Agreed.
I'm not sure b would kill the show, but I do agree with a. They could work it into a longer story line even after solving the murder of her mom, like they did in Bones. Anyone else notice how the first season of both these shows ended with similar idea? I'm actually a little disappointed the show decided to go there this early (ie only 10 episodes in). But oh well, it'll be interesting to see how they play it out.
I was re-watching the first few eps a couple of weeks ago and I have to say, man was Stana doing a much better job in the later eps. Yikes, no offense, I like her character and think she does a great job later, but the first few eps were not well acted at all.

I haven't seen Bones so I don't know what they did, but I just feel like solving an almost 10 year old cold case in a few episodes (so a few weeks?) just seems unrealistic. Especially with the hint about there being a 'bigger picture' crime/possible cover-up involved, I think it should be a little more complex. I'm all for them finding clues and getting close to figuring it out, but I feel like the actual solving of the crime should wait till closer to the end of the season, if not beginning of season three.
