exactly.  i don't think he's stupid, but he is quite oblivious to kate's intentions…mostly because she does try to hide them from him.  i think she does need to be a bit bitchy to get the point across.

To be fair, he does hide his true intentions all the time too. He hides it with childish jokes and sexual innuendo.

oh yeah, for sure.  i think they're both so caught up in hiding their own feelings that they're completely oblivious to each other's subtext.
