OfflineI remember someone (I think it was Jamz, but correct me if I'm wrong!) mentioned in another forum that it'd be cool to see a graph of the ratings. Like to see how the viewership progressed and stuff. So… voila! It's nothing fancy or anything – just something I whipped up on Excel in like two minutes. I can do it for season one as well, if someone gets me a copy of those ratings.
By the way, these were all taken from the ratings posted on the forum after each episode. And as you can tell, ratings went way up for the two-parter. Note to ABC: promote more! Just sayin'….

I don't remember if I ever posted that or not but I was hoping to see something like this. Thanks so much for making the graph. I appreciate it.
No problem! I just searched for the thread where the idea was brought up. And it turns out that it was Admin!

OfflineThat is very interesting, thanks so much for taking the time. They really need to ensure the first few Episodes of Season 3 are very strong and promote the hell out of them. They need to entice new viewers with good promotion for a very strong Episode but then make sure the following week's Episode is just as strong so we don't have the amount of drop off. And they have to find the right tone to advertise it which is not easy as Castle is a show that handles the light and shade so well; if the tone varies too much in consecutive episode the new viewer can be confused. I can understand viewers who came in on Tick Tick and Boom may have been a little confused as to the tone of the show and character relationships with the Episodes that followed.

OfflineCorrect me if I am wrong, but this was made from the ratings posted by Admin, which were for the original airings.
And, not to be a downer, but is it really good to be in the same place, (audience numbers) in episode 1 as episode 24? That shows almost no growth. It just worries me a little. I guess to be optimistic, I am sure other shows have shown a decline.

The dips were doing the re-runs? There should be a big audience for the series return considering how things ended.
Nope, I took the ratings for the original episode as it first aired. There's no re-runs put on the graph. So yes, crazy4castle you're correct!

Thanks shutthefrontdoor!
I think the total viewership for Castle has always been good…and was really fabulous during the 2-part episode and the few that followed. Unfortunately, both the spring season (when I guess most shows decline in the ratings and viewership) and the Romantically Challenged lead-in and the decline in ABC advertising seemed to hit at the same time…and led to viewership returning to early season 2 levels.
I am really more concerned about the demo rating, which is what matters most to TPTB. It really started to climb in January and hit great highs for the 2 part episode and the few that followed. But it has dropped again the last 4 episodes. I think that is probably more meaningful in terms of the success of the show over the season from the standpoint of the network.
But since Castle is renewed for a full season, I think Season 3 ratings are what will count…and it's anybody's guess since Castle will be up against new competition. It really seems like a new ballgame for the fall. Hopefully ABC will ramp up promotion and DWTS will have a great cast for a strong lead-in. The first few episodes may face strong competition with the "newness" of the other shows, but hopefully the demo will be able to reach closer to the 3.0 mark and stay there next season. I'm hoping!

Offlineuh-oh, more 2-parts to come, IMHO. Viewers for 17-18 are 40% higher than a single part ep.
The much discussed and sad finale didnt bring any other move. Maybe something TPTB has to think about. (Hard core shipper thought
