Through the first few minutes of Heroes and Villians (especially in the morgue and the first interrogation) her speech sounds off and seems to sound like she has something in her mouth and is trying not to open her mouth too wide when she talks.  Right after her first discussion with Gates when the see Red Maroon for the first time her speech is back to normal and she is showing more teeth when talking.  Cut to the next scene with Ryan and Esposito and her speech is off again.  At first I thought maybe braces on the back of her teeth but the way it comes and goes it almost seems like a retainer that she may be leaving in maybe due to an exceptionally long shooting day.

Anyone else notice this?

This!^^ I've noticed this since the premiere. There's something distinctively different with the way she speaks and enunciates her words in some scenes. I'm thinking maybe invisible braces like Invisalign? http://www.invisalign.com/Why-…..races.aspx

They may be scary but they are right I noticed it right away in the 1st show during the hospital scene. Something was different for sure I thought I was crazy until I read the same thing on another site now it’s posted on here. Maybe I am not crazy after all but I do suffer with OCD.

Yes!! If you watch the scene where she's questioning Anne, when she says “didn't you lose your mom?” and Beckett says “we're not here to discuss that”. Right after she says that you can totally see something on her teeth!!  Wish I was that cute with my retainer in and mine is definitely not almost invisible. Both episodes I was totally thinking there's something different about her, but could not for the life of me figure it out. Yay!! I think mystery solved. Although, I can't figure why Stana would be correcting her teeth. She already had a virtually perfect smile   :)

Ok, I watched again and again in several episodes and except from her teeth shining (which is a good sign obviously but doesn't mean something is over it) I can't see anything wrong or there being a retainer. I can even zoom in but nope, there’s just nothing there. She has excellent teeth by the way.

Seriously, I think you guys are looking way into it. Sometimes you just see things which are not there.

and about the talking: remember Stana loves doing accents and sometimes she unnoticely slips into one. She's also done it in interviews and sometimes you can barely notice it yourself. I do it aswell sometimes.

Can’t find it either after having watched it a few times. She does lisp a tiny bit in that part.
But being a professional as Stana is why would she wear them on a set during takes?

I don’t buy it. the showrunners pay way too much attention to detail to let something like that slip through.

I’ve had a look at the scene pointed out – I think you’re imagining things!

I guess we'll figure it out soon. One of her front teeth is not really aligned with her other teeth. If what you guys say is true, then I guess in a few weeks or months, we'll see a difference.

I rewatched Rise, and I tried to pay attention to her teeth, but I couldn't see anything unusual.

There's just one scene where I was not sure, it's the “just like us” scene from 4.02. The way she moves her lips is slightly different, looks like there's something else underneath. But I'm not sure at all. It's hard to say.

Watch the first 8mins of the episode again and there is a distinct difference in the way she pronounces the letter S than in most of the episode (save for a few scenes here and there).

I didnt actually see anything on her teeth, but her speech is different.  One possibility is that she had a lisp at one point in her life that pops back up now and then.  I had one as a kid and once in a while it will pop up out of the blue.

Well, I've seen interviews in which she temporarily takes up an accent (the TV guide interview is an example) and sometimes she switches. I do it aswell and it's something some people often don't notice. I actually think it's pretty cute and I didn't notice anything while watching Rise or Heroes and Villains.

I have the feeling that people are putting everything under a microscope to find something off Smile

How she pronounces things is probably just her getting back into the voice of the character after taking a couple of months off.

Perhaps it's just the strain of having to go back to suppressing her Canuck accent so the 'Murricans' will understand her? (I did snicker in several places during For Lovers Only where that accent was on full display – including “which route?” pronounced 'which root?' (not rowt) and “I've been thinking…” pronounced “I've bean thinking” (not 'bin')).
