It's good that they did this, and can bring attention to the problems, especially in the large population areas.  The biggest problem right now, is one person per vehicle; and we are all guilty of doing that, but you have to get people to carpool, especially to and from work.  Less vehicles on the roads, mean less pollution, less commute times, and more parking available.

Some companies set up van pools and some have jobs that can be done at home sometimes, which means, again, less people on the road.  Hopefully more electric cars can come forward at affordable prices, and we can have charging stations all over.   Right now cars like the Tesla are way too expensive, and realistically, in the short run, hybrids are going to be the only viable automotive related alternative to gas guzzlers.  Most people live too far away from work anyway, to bike or walk, and in some climates, it is only possible to get around that way during part of the year.  But part of the year, is better than never trying it.

It may just be perception on my part, but it does seem like less people are buying trucks than they did a few years ago, which is probably a good thing, since they aren't easy on gas.  I could never figure out why people were buying pickup trucks just for commuting, and never using them for their intended purposes; towing and hauling, although when my dad bought his first one in the early seventies, he bought it, because it was one of the cheapest full sized vehicles to be had.  They aren't cheap anymore.

In the video, where I think Seamus, is apparently beginning his bike ride, are those bars on the windows on the one building, or are they just divided glass?  If they are bars, man, Seamus, you better start packin' some Det. Ryan heat on that bike on your way to work, because, it doesn't look like you're riding in Mr. Rogers' neighborhood!Smile

It's great to see that some Castle cast members are environmentally conscious. We all need to do our share in decreasing our carbon footprints.

i wish i could drive less… but unfortunately my current job requires me to drive Undecided

i used to carpool to job i once had. i didn't even have to drive. all i had to do was contribute to fuel expenses and make sure was adaptable to my co-worker's schedule and it worked out great… less stress, no worries about parking, maintenance, and other costs and headaches…

IS IT MONDAY YET?!?

in the comments section of the youtube posting, someone (bostonscientist) said that she was drinking a vitamin-water drink product called "smart water"?

First I would guess an omelet or something like that. Then she seemed to be mixing a bottle of ice-tea or something similar – although those clips were shown out of order, with the finished drink before the mixing. Smile
I feel my stalker side got a big kick out of that video… – that's her kitchen? For real? -Her t-shirt matches the kitchen color scheme! Smile -What is that big yellow pig on the counter in the background? -What a big-azz computer screen! Cool

Oh, yeah, environment! Since I'm a bike/tram/bus-person myself, I can easily pledge to not use my car. Hardly ever use it anyway.

I wish I knew how to quit you.

What a lovely video.

Yea its a little far for me to ride my bike to school.

I'm a little scared going on a bike, but its been a a long time since I've ridden one. but its nice exercise though.

Wow, nice houses those two! I was waiting for Stana's kitchen to resemble the one she "had" at work. smile

well at least she knows how to make omelet or at least eggs. hehe

The houses are not too fancy, but it looks great for their personalities.

I wonder how long it took them to get to work? wink

great videos once again.

I was sharing my thoughts the whole Arimoto vs Telsa and I think I will just keep it myself for now.

I like what Stana & Seamus are doing here.  True bikes are the cheapest way of getting around & I like that option even better!

I wonder how Nathan go to work that week that week.  Did he drive one of the Arimoto cars to work?  Just  curious…..

Same with me. Bounce2 I was green with envy by that big screen monitor – unfortunately until both Apple and Adobe calculate on the 1 USD = 1 Euro exchange rate I have to think twice what to buy for my work.

What they do is very important mainly because a great many people think that only big things are counting: shutting down a power plant or like. But in reality small, everyday steps, which in most cases requires just planning and a bit of carefulness not sacrificing anything are more important than the headline actions.

My husband works in a Nuclear Power plant and I will tell you now that we will have Power plants in our country for a very long time.  To get funding for alternative power, or to build more alternative methods is very very difficult.   All public & private power companies are trying like helll to get funds for more wind mills & solar power stations.   They  prefer the matinance on such systems then the head ach ofl the matinance of the Nulcear Power plant.   And don't get me started on the NRC!!!

Anyway, what Stana said….just get on a bike and take those small stetps.  Very awesome of both of them!  Smile

"Los Angeles, by Bike and on a Budget" http://travel.nytimes.com/2010…..geles.html

I thought this would be of interest.

Personally, I'm not much of a fan of nuclear power as an alternate power source. But that's just my personal opinion.

Oh, the things you don't know about me can fill a book.

I'll admit, I watched the video to see Stana's kitchen.  :P

I work from home, so I barely use my car, but glad they're invested in a great cause. smile
