I feel like with an actress like Stana, who is not only great at the dramatic stuff, but physical stuff (see: Stiletto or the scene where Beckett took down a gangster to save Castle in the poker room), there should be some more "action scenes." I want to see her kick some butt. Anyone out there feel that way, too, or am I crazy?

I was thinking that myself while watching that bar fight preview. It is funny b/c I generally am not one for fight scenes at all. lol

Hey whoisharmonica, thanks for the post.
I like the physical comedy between the cast over action fights for this show. I do like action, but the fit might be too much to fit in.

I'm right there with you.
It's always a pleasure to see Beckett kick butt. Stana has some martial arts training and her take downs are smooth and fast. I would like to see a scene where Beckett loses her gun in a fight, or runs out of bullets and has to take the assailant down with hand to hand combat.
*That* would be awesome!

I haven't seen Stana in any other shows/films, but she certainly seems confident in the physical scenes. I find in this show, the action scenes (like when Beckett took down the Russian in the poker room) are shot too quickly with not enough time for us to take it in. Same with the opening scene of the Halloween special where Castle is dressing up in his Captain Mal outfit – filmed so fast with too many short bursts. How about we get to really live the moment? Stana is a terrific actress and I'd certainly watch her in some fight scenes any day. the preview for next week looks good

Another good movie with good Stana fight scene's is the Librarian The Curse of The Judas Chalice. There were at least 2 if I remember correctly. But they were awesome and I would love to see an all out fight on Castle. Doesn't have to be all the time just every once in a while.

I actually like how they did the "fast with too many short bursts" shots because it goes to show how 1) Beckett's quick take downs shows how efficient and skilled a cop she is, which I'm all giddy for and 2) Castle is like a kid and thinks and moves (at the time) like an action sequence with jump cuts to engender fast movement and pacing. I get what you mean about wanting to relish the moment, but I'd rather see a slow take with a main character-to-main character interaction than with the action shots. :-) Interesting point though.

I want to see an all out fight scene. Fists a flying. Bloody lip. Guns being drawn and then lost, with her eventually dragging him down. That would be fab!

I definately want more action and more DRAMA! I feel like all of these actors are so capable of this but the writers just aren't giving those types of scripts to them. I also feel like the ball has really been dropped with Beckett's mom's murder. That could have been something great for November sweeps and it would create some great drama. It could have been a great story arch for the whole season with them working on it little by little in every few episodes or so.

I'd like to see her taking a knife from some suspect, and then casually flipping it around, like in the Jimmy Kimmel interview. When she wasn't showing the Navy moves, that knife was flipping around in her hand, totally unconscious. Badass chick.
Twice now she's taken a knife away from some messed up girl, and both times she's just put/kicked the knife away. -disappointed

First, they don't qualify as 'action' scenes. It's been just two arm-twistings, literally, for season 2 so far. I feel, however, that this is not where they should be going. I understand why. Building her up, and everyone else in the precinct, is the easiest, clearest thing to do. To build HIM up is what is a stretch dramatically, always was. And they get rid of any Murder She Wrote vibes (dumb cops, smart amateur detective). But they're going the other way, making the police lot so efficient, so strong and smart, let alone morally clear but that I guess is a given, they're turning them into the sort of TV cops that they mean to send up sometimes.
What has been funny consistently is the moments when the cops are out of their depth, and they have been very clever in protecting the characters at the same time, making it part of the real life vibe. They should stick to that.

Good Forum question – you made me think.
For me, I like knowing that Beckett’s character has many facets. Season 1, they had to establish that she is a smart/strong/tough, no nonsense Detective – which was great because Castle could “play” off the seriousness of her “detecting”. This season, we are seeing (I believe) more of Kate herself (her vulnerabilities, bath tub scene etc). I think it would be hard to go from say the “bathroom caught-ya scene” (which was hilarious to me) to physically taking down the “bad guys” (which in Season 1 she demonstrated several times and as stated above a couple of times this season).
Personally, I believe Stana could “take any of us” (seriously) – but I’d rather the “fight” be over Castle this season and am looking forward to the additional romantic tension with the “future” Alyssa episode. I have no doubt in the expansion of each character the writers/directors/actors are conscious of the fact that Beckett is still the same S1 Detective but stretching her/us for future episodes. Action, Stana can definitely do as well as comedy and romance – her timing (to me) is perfect. Can’t wait to see what our favorite writing team comes up with next for Stana to show us as Kate Beckett.

I think if there was going to be a full on fight scene it would have to fit into the plot really, really well.
Aside from that I think it would be awesome! Not only for the in the moment action but also the aftermath make up is always fun and sometimes can be quite the challenge continuity wise (example: day after the fight: black eye. Two days later: no black eye at all), you really do have to be on your toes with stuff like that.
I have to agree with unniw. They should take advantage of the fact she can handle knives so well, if the opportunity presented itself.

This kind of made me laugh b/c um… duh! lol I certainly don't know how to kill people with knives and my martial arts training ends at about age 12 so yeah, she could kill me with fairly little effort.

I think a fight scene with Castle's life at stake would be cool. Beckett fighting to save Castle. Of course the trouble he is in is his own fault and she has to come get him out of it. Kind of a race against the clock kind of thing. Castle strapped to a bomb (too dramtic for castle?) and time is running out. Beckett has to take out the guy and disarm the bomb before they all blow up. Of course after taking out the guy, Beckett goes to disarm the bomb and Castle is begging her to leave him and save herself not thinking she can make it in time. Haha ok so sorda just wrote a story there…might have to use that in a fan fic!

I agree about having more action scenes with Stana. Matter of fact I WOULD LOVE it if there was a sparring scene with Stana and Tamala just being girls getting out energy. That would be hilariously awesome to hear them talking girl talk about the guys and throwing punches. Or to have Stana spar with Esposito or Ryan.
After that I definately agree she should run out of bullets in a scene and do hand to hand combat. How cool would that be!

I recently watched Stiletto and I think detective Beckett needs to do some undercover work. ;) Stana was absolutely smoking in that movie.
